    I became familiar with the Bridge from the Iconic film To Live and Die in LA! I've driven across it once myself One of the unsung heroes of California! This is complicated!

    CalTrans is incompetent and incredibly inefficient. CalTrans took 3.5 YEARs to concrete resurface just 4 miles of the 101 near my town. By the time it was complete, the first sections were already breaking up and had to be fixed - that’s right, the NEW roadbed was cracking.

      I will add that there were lane shutdowns that caused delays of up to 1 HOUR over a 30-mile stretch between communities on either side of the work. Over the 3.5 year construction span, based on the traffic per day, I calculated over 3 MILLION person hours were wasted due to the CalTrans work. Meaning if a 30-minute trip became a 90-minute trip that's one lost hour per person.

    Repair?? Thing needs to be torn down, 45 minutes to get to the cruise terminal! Needs to be about 8 lanes

      im 60 yo...been using this bridge first with my dads parents who lived in long beach from the mid 20s till 1937 when they had a home built in palos verdes....so as far back as i can remember...in the early 80s i worked at the terminal island powerplant which is over 100 years old...in 83 during a heavy rainstorm...the whole place filled with water...had my 67 vw bug floating across the deep section to get out of work...and during higher tides its sorta spooky watching ships passby in the channel...water is more than 20ft above the dry land your standing on....
      on one occasion i was in the left lane long beach bound when cars in front of me were all brakeing hard,i was boxed in by a big truck on my right.i threw my car sideways into the center barricade...i narrowly missed hitting the car in front of me...all it did was breakoff one of my aluminum nerfbars...backed up and headed on to work...but what a spooky feeling...any vehicle contact would have closed the bridge during rushhour....i was 19 then....
      so the bridge is over 60 now....and im not sure of its current condition....i used a drawbridge that is next to the old henry ford bridge,in many occasions....my suggestion is they build a taller bridge there first before closing this bridge, thus allowing an alternate route that is not subject to the delays a drawbridge causes

    Just gonna have to rip off the band-aid and close the bridge. Of course that isn't ideal, and it will cause an inconvenience but it needs to be done.

    You definitely have to calculate all the loooong lunch breaks, the standing around with brooms and talking while pointing for theatrics! Caltrans is #1 in the World at this! 😂😂😂

    It would take less than 12 months if CalTrans didn't have so much bloat. Watch when construction starts, you'll see half of them standing on the side doing nothing collecting our tax dollars. Go with a third party contractor and inspect along the way.

    • @PurposefulRecreation
      @PurposefulRecreation 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You will be happy to know Caltrans hires a third party contractor to do the construction. Caltrans staff hasn't built a freeway since they were called the Division of Highways in the 70's . What you described is exactly what Caltrans already does.

    Who cares what the public wants, the bridge needs to be inspected. End of story! All this entitlement needs to come to an end. The inspection would be done before the last tear of these cry babies fell.

    How about asking the people about the feedbacks on the taxes that they're trying to cram down our throats and hear what the folks have to say about it

    Lord knows Ive driven over this bridge, slammed into so many trucks, cop cars, flipped over and even jumped off the bridge multiple times, sometimes multiple times a day for days on end. Bridge seems fine to me, then again, the bridge I do all this on is in GTA 5

    I’ve had two dreams of that bridge collapsing one dream I was driving through it I managed to barely get across and one dream I was working at the ports and pieces came down and we all hid under a shelter

      I have rode across that bridge several times since my childhood and i have not once had a dream about it collapsing the bridge is probably way more structurally safer then most of the other freeways nearby if anything

    It only took 14 months to build the Empire State building!
    If this were China, they would have this bridge done in 3 weeks!
