  • This is my process as I create face masks with ties! I use 100% cotton Ankara fabric from a local open air African market in Harlem. I cut the squares to 7" on all 4 sides, and the strips are 1" wide that I fold in half, to make 0.5" strips to sew on. I have also made 8" squares but I felt like that was a little large. Feel free to adjust the width to fit your needs. I also just eyeball the pleats now. Let me know if you have any questions!
Please note that these are for personal use only, they are not medical grade masks, and do not contain any filters. The CDC recommends that members of the public use simple cloth face coverings when in a public setting to slow the spread of the virus, since this will help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.
    Supplies:
100% cotton or cloth of choice
Cutting board as to not damage your work surface
    Rotary blade or scissors
    Thread
    Sewing machine
Serger (could just use a sewing machine)
