- The villains in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a rather overshadowed part of the anime. It's a shame because Aura the Guillotine, Lugner, Linie, Macht, & Solitar bring a fresh take on the plainest villain concept, but it also has a strong psychological basis, based on one of the darkest corners of a real human personality.

I think part of why Frieren is so great is it takes tropes that have been beaten to death and rendered boring and shows us why they kept getting overused. Pure evil villains. Overpowered main character. Immortal better than you but dying out Tolkien style knife ears. Flashbacks galore. Quest to kill a demon king. Kuudere mage girls. A paragon of goodness for the hero. It goes on and on like this.
Yep somehow with all those cliche elements. As a story frieren still got one of the best storyline in modern media. It's emotional, thought provoking and only gets better progressively. 2 season will easily surpass season 1 if adapted correctly. If they animate El dorado and goddess monument arc

@@mdtaj7563 because it is Heroic story about high moral, like Biblical never ending battle of evil vs good in humans. Today modern life story about low moral and modern problems. does anyone thinks that some animation about slice of life will stood the test of time? Nah!
people think good villains always have to be some one with deep writing and trauma and reasons to why they became villain but they forget that some one can be evil just for the sakes of beeing evil
Demons are not evil, it is his nature to predate on humans. Is a tiger evil for eating your dad or mom when ungry? What if a bear or pitbull could talk like a human live along you side for years and then just snap and eat you and kill you, is not that his nature.
@@tamarindo709- The difference between a wild predator that instinctively kills to feed to survive vs demons in these show, is explained in this video. They are highly analytical and thinking being who consciously choose to do evil more because of they’e own perverse moral and psychological make-up. Narcissism or Pride makes all Demon to be even hostile to their fellow demons but are held in check by the Machiavellian way thinking on how to one-up the other. Lastly, their lack of apathy is distinct from the ordinary animal psyche. It is a thinking individual overmastering of his ego, super ego and id. Something similar to Serial Killer, they consciously decides to do harm based on their messed up morality. All doubts and questions have been overmastered with their own world view. Not quite an animal, not quite "human". The very definition of pure evil.
They are predators and like a lot of predators they use mimicry to get close enough to kill. They're a crab spider that looks like a flower petal.

Johan is far more scarier and dangerous than any demon we've seen in the series and the ones that are yet to be written.

Your analysis makes me curious about how pwASPD and pwNPD live and are viewed in the world of Frieren. Would they have been ostracized and demonized (“demon”-ized, heh) because they might show similar traits to demons? Or would they still be given basic respect and decency because of their human biology?
Maybe it’s because I’m Cluster C myself, but I’ve dipped my toes into researching and learning about personality disorders, and with my interest in anime, sometimes trying to create OCs that have personality disorders. Idk food for thought

I love th1s anime.
After reading manga all YT videos about frieren are just... uninformed. There's a looot of good content in future and man oh man I can't wait to see it animated.
But on the other hand... can we have a video discussing spoilery stuff. Just manga level.
Macht is just overwhelmingly good character. His character adds soo much to worldbuilding, charatcer building and... well that's a topic for... how many chapters exactly? Like a good hour discussion on topic

Its so dumb, and the faux philosophical drama would be fixed by a being that doesn't have the empathy of a child and moral understanding of a child never taught anything by their parents.

OK, you need help. If you don't like a show you should just forget it. Going on TH-cam under quite confidential videos about the show in question and commenting crap about it isn't healthy. If you don't like it, move on, don't let it live rent free in your head
