I played it back when it first launched and the "post about the medium shoe size in Europe" intro wasn't a thing. The stupid helicopter ride was.

To be honest I was surprised it wasn't set in the US after seeing the title. They will call things something like that and it will just be based in Texas or New York. No reason why other countries developers can't do the same I guess

This game was released just as the Turkish indie game industry was beginning to take off. Back then, the Turkish player base would buy your game and support you solely because you are a Turkish developer. Any criticism would be silenced for "being against progress". There's a lot of half baked games released around that time to capitalize on that, and the more "Turkish" your game was the more praise you would get. This is the result. Another popular one is "Erzurum"
These games were so bad that people not only stopped supporting Turkish developers, but did a 180 and became extremely harsh and unforgiving critics. A lot of Turkish developers nowadays _hide_ the fact they they are Turkish just to avoid the extremely harsh criticism from Turkish players
As for the weapons, M4 and M16 platform weapons were certainly used, but were somewhat rare as the HK-G3 was the main primary weapon used by the Turkish army at that time. It was later replaced by the Turkish made MPT, which has a somewhat similar design to M4. MPT was already known to public at that time so my best guess is that they wanted to have the MPT as the primary weapon but couldn't find or afford an actual MPT model so they used an M4 asset instead

Yeah, that was the most obviously blatant lie in that whole shpiel. I like how they couched it in a very sarcastic way, but it looks very patriotic.
Turkey actually is NATO and thus.... They use tons of H&K weapons, American weapon systems and other western systems. They're primary was the great HKG3 in 7.62X51. Adopted by Turkey Army in 1975 and has been the primary rifle every since. They're special forces and commando units actually do use M4 platforms. They're just are now replacing they're battle proven G3s with the new MPT 76, which is a 7.62x51 and they also have one that is chambered in 5.56. They started replacing them in 2014 and are up to about 40 percent replace compared to G3. It's been a slow rollout. And opinions of it within the army are mixed.

As a Turk i must say that i laughed so hard on the propaganda they tried to do and how badly they actualy do it in the intro. Such as "foreign powers in our homeland" or omfg i just noticed 7:50 "Great Turan Union" lmfao. The game being bland and boring makes it even more funny.

Edit: So much of this game is just a Medal of Honor Warfighter ripoff. Wouldn't be surprised since you could play as Turkish special forces in MP I believe. So with how fanatic Turkish gamers seem to be. I wouldn't be surprised if they use Warfighter as the basis for their own games.
