    Grab the top of the conibear 110 when setting (grab the area near where you set the trigger, but grab more towards the corner). That way your thumb is never in there. And if it goes off, then you're fine.

    Great video, good explanation. I like learning about the mechanics of things. Trapping is pretty interesting.
    Thanks.

    You can put end covers on each end with smaller holes that a squirrel or rat can enter, but not a dog or cat. The ends can be made easily removable.

    I trap barn cats all the time with them. Only thing you’ll see is there tail twitch once or twice

    At 1:43 You absolutely don't want to hold it that way. That's exactly how you break a thumb. You hold it with your finger tips from the side the dog is on ONLY.

      I agree. Always keep your fingers on the outside of the trap. BTW Conibear is a brand of trap. Bodygrip is the proper name of these style of traps.

    Make a safety hook on the spring. Most models of conibear trap have a safety hook

    That’s pretty clever, I was always just putting them up in the trees to keep pets away from them. I might steal your idea friend.

    Don’t let this guy fool you, none of the traps he uses are dangerous for hands. I collect my 110’s by sticking my hand in them and setting them off. I’ve seen guys put their hands in 330’s.

    Do you place any bait in the box for a Ferrell cat? Or are they attracted to the box itself?
    Thanks

    You don't need to be "humane". Or whatever that means. You need to be hungry. Humane is irrelevant to survival.

    Shouldn’t dry fire them because they can get bent. There should also be a safety on the hand grip made of thick steel wire.

    • @Liljoozy

      He didn't dry fire. He put a stick in there.

      Also only double spring conibears have safety latches. Single springs never do.

    If you are targeting a smaller animal (squirrel, rat), you can have a removable panel which covers part of the front opening. That way, your cat cannot get a paw or head in there.

      You can use a weasel box (with a rat trap inside) or make a box for small animals.

      What happens to a cat if its caught in bodygrip trap 160 or 220? Does the trap kill it? Is it dangerous?

    • @bergalain
      @bergalain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe too late you need Bélisle 160 or 220 to trap coon. Conibear 110 too small

  • @Robstercraw
    @Robstercraw 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    it's called a 110 because it's 110 lbs of pressure.
