  • What a moving song. I found this very interesting and yet very compelling. We have a message and hope bought forward in the form of metal rock! I did not expect that. Little did I know. This is Disturbed with The Light. Do Enjoy.

    Lyrics:
    Like an unsung melody
The truth is waiting there for you to find it
    It's not a blight, but a remedy
A clear reminder of how it began
    Deep inside your memory
Turned away as you struggled to find it
You heard the call as you walked away
A voice of calm from within the silence
And for what seemed an eternity
You're waiting, hoping it would call out again
    You heard the shadow reckoning
Then your fears seemed to keep you blinded
You held your guard as you walked away
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light
    An unforgivable tragedy
The answer isn't' where you think you'd find it
    Prepare yourself for the reckoning
For when your world seems to crumble again
Don't be afraid, don't turn away
You're the one who can redefine it
Don't let hope become a memory
Let the shadow permeate your mind and
Reveal the thoughts that were tucked away
So that the door can be opened again
    Within your darkest memories
Lies the answer if you dare to find it
Don't let hope become a memory
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light, beautiful
    Sickening, weakening
Don't let another somber pariah consume your soul
    You need strengthening, toughening
It takes an inner dark to rekindle the fire burning in you
    Ignite the fire within you
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light
Don't ignore, listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
    Sometimes darkness
    Can show you the light

Yes, "The Light" is an original Disturbed song. David Draiman....a voice like no other....has a timber to it that NO ONE else has. .....a gift to die for! It can be pure and angelic.....or demonic....and all parts in between. Glorious voice!! So powerful !! Btw Hap, don't know if you know that Danny (Lead guitar) writes all background music....and David not only sings....but writes ALL the melodies AND ALL the lyrics!

The music comes from deep inside David, he's not just singing, he's telling you how he feels. The rest of the band is perfect, they feed each other. Love.

Davis was trained as a cantor, like his father and grandfather before him, but he left before becoming a rabbi, is what I think I read.

Great reaction to a great song!! You can definitely have emotional reactions to “metal” or hard rock songs.
When you follow one lead after another, it’s called going down the rabbit hole!! 😂😂😂.
But I have my own rabbit hole...if you like this, I think you might like Shinedown (songs: Sound of Madness, Second Chance, Monster, Devil and more). 🌻🌻🌻

Hap just for a different level of talent for Disturbed and David try "Hold on to Memories " it is all acoustic which really accentuates David's voice.

+1! Also check out Uninvited Guest and A Reason to Fight. All lyrically and melodically powerful. Nearly all Disturbed songs have very deep meanings often more than the obvious.

I definitely would recommend "Hold onto Memories".... " A Reason to Fight" and their cover of Stings "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You". Disturbed's album " Evolution " is freaking fantastic! A must own for everyone's Disturbed collection!

Loved your reaction to this song. It’s one of my favorites by Disturbed. Yes, David has an amazing voice but can we talk about Dan for a second? Dan is the guitarist and the way he plays, even with their heavier songs, is just phenomenal. The whole band put so much emotion into each of their songs.
Please do a reaction to their songs “A Reason to Fight” (the official video first) and “Hold on to Memories”. They won’t disappoint.

Thank you for your reaction! This song is as uplifting as it is headbanging. You're not wrong, you know. A lot of metal is "mean". But it is for a purpose. It is to give us an outlet. A safe, adrenaline pumping way to embrace, and then release our anger, our sadness, our pain.

Here’s somebody who is well into HEAVY metal 🤘. So much, that I am definitely more of a “Down with the sickness” (a heavier Disturbed song) type of person 😊 Somehow I always liked when my blood boils and I have to bang my head 😂🤘The “Light” is one of the softer Disturbed songs but I like when David shows the vulnerability and those songs all have a great message. “Uninvited guest” is one of those, practically a love song. Glad you started to open towards what was considered “loud music” for you! It was kinda similar with me and Rap, Hip Hop. You think Naa, It’s not for me- but then something happens and you’re like- hey, this is actually not that bad 😂🤞❤️

If the firefighter hadn't been inured, he would have never met the love of his life. Sometimes darkness DOES show us the light. There are so many awesome messages in this that it is definitely my favorite Disturbed song. And David is an AWESOME singer. Great reaction, Hap!

I liked your reaction to The Light by Disturbed. I’d like to suggest The Night if you have not already done it off their Indestructible album. I am a huge fan of Disrurbed and The Night is one of my favorites. The live video of A Reason To Fight from the Evolution album is also really good, but very emotional. It has a strong message regarding addiction and depression along with suicide.

To be honest, I almost stopped the reaction very soon into it. The genre is not really my cup of tea. I am really glad I stayed with it! Another great message from another great group. Randy, you mentioned SRV and I agree. SRV showed a lot of concern for the downtrodden and was that kind of man, to his soul. RIP, SRV Oops, I went off on a tangent. haha Great recommendation, Randy, 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thanks to you and Mr. Moderator.

Disturbed music and lyrics are like that very thought provoking and hits alot of hard topics ...bringing them to light instead of ignoring them. I'm 64...a Disturbed/ David Draiman fan. All of their music. Wonderful artists.

There are two of Disturbed's own songs that you should react to. Hold on to Memories is a touching song beautifully done song that will touch your heart. A Reason to Fight is to fight drug addiction and suicide. Both songs will be appreciated more if you watch the official live video to see how their fans feel about these songs. BTW...I have already arranged to have Hold on to Memories at my funeral.
