  • Once you've determined your DR or Dead Reckoning position, you can calculate what your Set and Drift is to figure out your new position, and your new course to steer.

    Navigation Plotting is an essential skill for working in the maritime industry. This video is an introduction to some of those concepts. If you've spent lots of time on the water, but have not pursued a professional license, you should consider yourself a candidate for an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) 6-Pack license. This license allows you to charter vessels with up to 6 paying passenger and is the first step to a career in the maritime industry, full-time or part-time!

    A great lesson, but let us appreciate, for a moment, how smoothly Capt Dave turned a question mark into an 8.

    A radioactive hapten. (100 parts of hapten)+ 50 parts of immunoglobulin.
    Solid-phase radioimmunoassay, in which the antibody is attached to an insoluble carrier, is not illustrated.

    In this calculation the set in drift are relative. true speed and course of the vessel effected by the true current course and speed.

    How can one determine then the speed to proceed to arrive at a particular point at a given time while accounting for tidal stream?.thank you

    May I ask what textbook your students are using? I'd love to pick up a copy even if just for the extra practice problems. I'm a recreational sailor - not someone doing this for a living - but I'm always interested in building better navigational skills. Great videos; you guys have helped me so much. I wish you guys had online programs from your website for recreational sailors/boaters. I'd pay good money for full courses for sure!

    Hi Capt. Question please....your drift speed is only measured at 45 minutes....but isn't drift speed a knots per hour calculation? .8 over 45 minutes would approx .27 of a mile per 15 minute interval and to show drift as a "knots per hour" you would need to add the remaining 15 minute interval...so your drift should be 1.08 knots per hour....or simply. 1 knot....
    If I am wrong, could you tell me why please? Thanks.

      Do the maths... It's for an hr

    • @cuberzed1441
      @cuberzed1441 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to add the remaining 15 minute. 45 minutes was converted to hour already. 45 minutes = 0.75 hr.
