Josh you should sleep on the top bunk and give the bottom one to Diesel so he keeps his hair and toys to himself. That's what I would do personally. Beautiful truck man!
The air volume adjustment screw is located on the regulator part of the air chamber, use a 5.5 mm hex wrench or Allen key. Use a long #2 driver through the front to set the tone lower or higher. Should be able to break Windows if you adjust it correctly.
Josh I have been watching your videos since 28k subs (summer 2014). I hadn't watched them since about fall of 2015 and just started watching them again. You're at 56k now so that's double what you were at when I started watching so I'd just like to say congrats! Like the new truck! -Matt
I being a KW guy love your new truck and the horn was the only disappointing part of the Western Star. A lot of tucks are going automatic. I wish you health, happiness and prosperity with your new truck.
Congratulations on the truck! Some air horns are tunable. Ask the shop to tune them, and see what they say. I tried keeping the plastic on a sleeper mattress once. Made me sweat anywhere my skin was against the plastic. Even through a sheet and I tried putting a blanket in between myself and the plastic too. Hope it works out better for you.
I got excited for a moment thinking you pulled the trigger on a new Star! Congrats either way. I'm heading back out on the road next week, after 3yrs in the patch. Stay safe and keep the shiny side up! Go Jets!
Nothing quite like the smell of a new truck. About your couch covers, get some 6 ft. long water pipe insulation, cut them to fit and wedge them between the seat cushions / arms and seat cushions/ back It will keep you're seat covers in place without pins.
Josh love western star and I agree they need to fix the horn. Also my father drives a western star 4900 with a Detroit DD15 560 hp and the turbo sounds amazing. Hope this guy has a nice sound to it. Can't wait for Friday!!!!
Awesome looking Truck, outside and inside. Better than the one I use to have many years ago, and I agree with you, that air horn does need some bigger fuller Truck air horn sound. Enjoy that new Awesome Western 🌟 Star 🌟 Truck, and travel safe.
Josh, give us some updates on how the WesternStar feels different from the Freightliner and Peterbuilt when you have driven it for awhile! I don't see many of them on the roads in California! I currently drive a Mack Pinnacle day cab by the way and it weighs about a thousand pounds more than a Freightliner and Kenworth! Thank You
They are nice trucks, but not real big on the stereo and mirror controls being up top like that. I do like the size of that fridge though. Was that a actual home type outlet I saw at 17:11? If so would be handy for a microwave, or for a tv & blu-ray player.
im driving an 01 western star and i wouldnt have it anyother way except for a new one. minus def of course. cb is on the dash and thats a weird weird place for your mirrors and engine brake. such a beautiful truck.
I wonder if they could hear Josh blow the horn in the office, wondering who's blowing the horn lol. Oh thats Josh, he's all excited with the new truck, just give these young guys a new truck and they're all excited.
I'm so happy for you my friend and I hope that W5700 at this time already have a lot of customization. That goose horn is perfect for a Ford trucks LOL
That airhorn sounds like a Wolo one... same one I have... electronic horn almost... which is what I put on my 4x4 only because I didn't want a compressor
Does the bottom bunk swing up to access more storage beneath it? When you aimed your camera under it, it looked like two gas struts for holding the bunk up.
NICE truck! Does this Western Star also come with a Mercedes/Detroit engine? The steering wheel and the transmission stickythingy come from the Mercedes Actros MK4. Have fun driving it!
Brother Josh why did you get rid of your truck to drive a company truck or is your truck? God bless you brother sorry I haven't been around lately I've been just trying to get well I had my 19th back surgery recently and they took out my spinal stimulator and got out all the Mercer they scraped out so now I'm done IV treatments at home appreciate your prayers brother love you guys.
what are you going to do for your moose bumper ? you had i would think it wont fit on this truck without a welder & a few different drilled holes t.c. be safe , have fun cas life is short how do i know cas i have throat cancer
+StarPuss www.ToxicRedNeck.Com Yes, its all about gears. I don't want auto going up/down mountain grades, especially in winter. I want to be in control 100% of the time.
+Trucker Josh VLOGS is it 10 or 12 speed manual when you put it into manual mode. I know the Cascadia Evolutions go to 12 speed and the Peterbilts go to 10 speed.
+BasicScapes It's a DT12 automated manual transmission. And it is a 12 speed. It has a clutch and is setup like a manual transmission, just controlled automatically.
The 5700 is Phantom model Western Star, which is built on top of a Freightliner chassis. These are made in North Carolina right along side the Cascadia. They just put the steel WS cab on them instead of the aluminium Freightliner. if you want to hear a real WS horn, you should jump in a 4900 model
+DutchDude Not a big surprise in today's economy, since they are both owned by Daimler. They would be crazy not to share parts. Volvo and Mack, and KW and Pete also use many of the same components with different bodies.
How does sleeper air con work in those trucks? I know that the engine can be turned off and the air con will still work. And for truckers in america, do you eat all of your food in restaurants and fast food or you cook your food inside the truck? or do you cook it outside?
An auxiliary power unit (APU) is a device on a vehicle that provides energy for functions other than propulsion. They are commonly found on large aircraft, naval ships, as well as some large land vehicles. A refrigerated or frozen food semi trailer or train car may be equipped with an independent APU and fuel tank to maintain low temperatures while in transit, without the need for an external transport-supplied power source.[citation needed] In the United States, federal Department of Transportation regulations require 10 hours of rest for every 11 hours of driving. When stopped, drivers often idle their engines to provide heat, light, and power. Idling inefficiently burns fuel and puts wear on engines. Some trucks carry an APU designed to eliminate these long idles. An APU can save up to 20 US gallons (76 L) (Cat 600 - 10 hours downtime @ 2 gallons per hour idling) of fuel a day, and can extend the useful life of the main engine by around 100,000 miles (160,000 km), by reducing non-productive run time.[citation needed] On some older diesel engines, an APU was used instead of an electric motor to start the main engine. These were primarily used on large pieces of construction equipment.[citation needed] Diesel Edit This is the inside of an HP2000 Auxiliary Power unit (APU) surrounded by heat pump components. Diesel-powered APU on truck The most common APU for a commercial truck is a small diesel engine with its own cooling system, heating system, generator or alternator system with or without inverter, and air conditioning compressor, housed in an enclosure and mounted to one of the frame rails of a semi-truck. Other designs fully integrate the auxiliary cooling, heating, and electrical components throughout the chassis of the truck. The APU generator engine is a fraction of the main engine's size and uses a fraction of the fuel; some models can run for eight hours on 1 US gallon (3.8 L) of diesel. The generator also powers the main engine's block and fuel system heaters, so the main engine can be started easily right before departure if the APU is allowed to run for a period beforehand. These units are used to provide climate control and electrical power for the truck's sleeper cab and engine block heater during downtime on the road as mandated by statewide laws for idle reduction.[citation needed] Propane Edit A less common APU available for commercial diesel truck cabs and sleepers includes a heating & cooling system, duplex 110 volt electrical power outlets inside and outside the cab. These are all powered by a single propane fueled generator. The Tri Pac III APU was introduced to the market in 2012 by American Truck Group, LLC. With this system in place, it is no longer necessary to idle the truck engine during rest and sleep periods in order to provide the air condition/heating and appliance power for the driver. This will reduce non travel operating hours on the engine and extend its useful mileage by up to an estimated 100,000 miles.[18] Electric Edit An electric APU installed on a truck Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices (television, microwave oven, etc.) in the bunk. I know this long and winded I just thought it would be better for you to understand.
Tania Wow, thanks, always wanted to know how truckers could use air con and other eletrics stuff while resting winhout sucking all the eletricity of then truck. Thanks for the awnser
congrats bro.. I have always thought the WS were the best looking rigs around. I have been watching the videos for a long while, and you raise the profession (if we can call it that) to a higher level than these other nay-sayers- Of all vloggers, you deserve it. Good luck on the new Home away from Home and please, for the sake of that Massive Manly Grill up front, get a real horn!!!!
You recently found lactose free milk well surprise ! look for lactose free cheese, flavored milk , yogurt and spread! its not just milk you can get Josh.....buy the others and your allergies might improve :) (i only know of these as my son is also lactose intolerant )
For the cost i feel like trucks should have onboard cooking and toilet!!! Truck stops tend to be extra NASTY!! Make sure you get a filter for your hvac unit Josh, I've seen many fail just due to a bit of dust!! Ps your horn is exactly what my farts sound like!!!
Hi Josh Newish truck for me a Volvo FH 460 cab over along with a new job Monday but the truck is not in our yard so getting a lift from the yard in East Tilbury Essex England where I'll be based to the yard Bradford England where there the truck is along with a trailer which is about 200 miles away with all my junk and swap it all over oh happy days finding places to put it all again love the new truck thought but not the moving part
I like your truck esp the fridge but closet is compromised. BTW I agree with u with the horn, your funny lol. 😁
Josh you should sleep on the top bunk and give the bottom one to Diesel so he keeps his hair and toys to himself. That's what I would do personally. Beautiful truck man!
One word describes what I think of your new truck, Josh....JEALOUS!!! She sure is pretty, though. Enjoy her!
The air volume adjustment screw is located on the regulator part of the air chamber, use a 5.5 mm hex wrench or Allen key. Use a long #2 driver through the front to set the tone lower or higher. Should be able to break Windows if you adjust it correctly.

Great looking truck it will be better when you start driving it Josh tomorrow dude ( take care keep on trucking it's in the blood)
Josh love western star and I agree they need to fix the horn. Also my father drives a western star 4900 with a Detroit DD15 560 hp and the turbo sounds amazing. Hope this guy has a nice sound to it. Can't wait for Friday!!!!

Really nice truck and the best part is that there are none of those pesky payments that come with the new truck smell.
Enjoy and drive safely.
ArizAl
Well Josh, I see you were at the South Steinbach Timmies. Have fun with the Automatic.
Nice new truck. Lots of happy miles in this
Very nice Truck. Thank you for the tour Trucker Josh. Also I loved the ending when you compared the horn to a goose lol!
Great video truckerjosh and hope that you have a safe travel.
Josh, give us some updates on how the WesternStar feels different from the Freightliner and Peterbuilt when you have driven it for awhile! I don't see many of them on the roads in California! Laughed so hard almost fell out of the chair when you pulled the duck horn, roflol!

Wow I'm amazed they haven't really changed the interior to much but gorgeous looking truck
im driving an 01 western star and i wouldnt have it anyother way except for a new one. minus def of course. cb is on the dash and thats a weird weird place for your mirrors and engine brake. such a beautiful truck.
I'm jealous Trucker Josh. Very very nice for a Western Star. I'm impressed.
the Moment you realise that westernstar have many things from the interior out of the MB Actros mp4 (Europe truck)
The steering column looks exactly like a Mercedes Actros MP4. Only the logo on the steeringwheel is different.
Congrats on the new truck!
I wonder if they could hear Josh blow the horn in the office, wondering who's blowing the horn lol. Oh thats Josh, he's all excited with the new truck, just give these young guys a new truck and they're all excited.
Nice truck, Josh! I picked up a brand new one, with that new truck smell. Haha!
The third air gauge is not applied brake air it's pounds per square inch on your rears. The heavier the load the higher that gauge will read
For your couch covers go to Wally-World AKA Wall-Mart and buy Diaper pins they have a safety on them so your mutt wont get stuck.
That is one great looking truck. I like how they have the woodgrain type of closets. And that new truck smell.
closets are real wood not wood grain
Congratulations regarding your new truck!
Those horns do sound a bit silly. :)
Be careful on the road. Keep the shiny side up!
Nice truck first time seeing that model hope you enjoy it on down the road
great truck! we just don't get the same kind of truck in the UK
I think there.s more storage under the bed also. You need to lift up the bed..I believe it.s on hinges
bed looks small.. I believe that is suspension pressure gauge on drives but I been wrong before. Overall great truck.
I'm so happy for you my friend and I hope that W5700 at this time already have a lot of customization. That goose horn is perfect for a Ford trucks LOL
Friggin awesome! One of the more handsome rigs out there!
I looked over a Metalic Blue one, wicked sharpe!
Keep On Trucking!
Can't wait to see you giver on Friday. Congrats
It's funny you should mention a goose.....I often give a toot on the airhorn when I'm passing a group of geese lol
Maybe the horn sounds louder when you are outside the cab....you know, Sound Proofing does work. Just a guess...
OK dude, you have to put a nice triple train horn on that truck, I love a rig that sounds like locomotive going down the tracks (road) lol.
The last air pressure gauge is for suspension and not application.
the air horn might sound better when you get rolling and your air pressure is up.
Awesome truck! Needs a moose bumper.
Moving your junk from the old truck to the new truck...LOL!
My dad got a brand new 2016 Mack truck for is brand new ABS live bottom it's sweet.
NICE truck! Does this Western Star also come with a Mercedes/Detroit engine? The steering wheel and the transmission stickythingy come from the Mercedes Actros MK4. Have fun driving it!
Brother Josh why did you get rid of your truck to drive a company truck or is your truck? #543 Where's the Odometer? Two Rivers, Wisconsin manufactures marine horns --- get one!
Nothing wrong with the horn. After they walk past you wearing New Truck Smell perfume you can goose them with that horn.
Awesome truck! I want one, but I live in the U.K. I doubt it would fit on our roads! Keep up the great vids!
Superdouper truck you have there congratulation. Like your video, have a good day Josh
*Looks Like a good Truck!*
But Auto, That's no fun lol! Gears normally what keeps you awake on long trips lol
+StarPuss www.ToxicRedNeck.Com Yes, its all about gears. I don't want auto going up/down mountain grades, especially in winter. I want to be in control 100% of the time.
so Josh, the most important thing you left out, what Engine does it have?
+Robert Slate Detroit
+Trucker Josh VLOGS is it 10 or 12 speed manual when you put it into manual mode. I know the Cascadia Evolutions go to 12 speed and the Peterbilts go to 10 speed.
But it can be put into manual mode by flipping the switch to M. You can upshift by flipping the handle up or downshift by pushing the handle down.
+Robert Slate I hope it's the Detroit! I drove an International with 13 speed trans and a 318 Detroit back in the day and loved every minute of it!
+BasicScapes It's a DT12 automated manual transmission. And it is a 12 speed. It has a clutch and is setup like a manual transmission, just controlled automatically.
My Dad being a Navy guy taught me in my preschool days how to fold my clothes and bed linens.
nice vlog tj. very funny with the horn. back to some great Ole vloging i love watching. thank you.
Enjoy your new ride, Josh!
is your moosebar coming back? you need a bigger airhorn for shure
So what happens to the moose bumper? are you able to hook it onto the new truck?

Is this a company truck or did you purchase the truck. Western Star is the one I was thinking about getting.
Awesome Opossum, I remember! Even though you already answered it for me!
I remember how happy you were when he said awesome possum for the first time haha

The horn on my 2001 Toyota Highlander sounds exactly like a roadrunner horn.
That's the new design of the Western Stars. Really don't see that many on the road.
