  • In this episode, we're sharing our list of the top amphibious aircraft from international brands or aircraft manufacturers, together with their price and important features. This follows our most recent video on amphibious aircraft from North American companies. Stick around to see the number one aircraft on our list!
    Amphibious aircraft or seaplanes have a marked advantage over conventional aircraft since they can travel faster than boats and can get closer to their target destinations whether on land or sea. They can be quite useful for long-range air-sea missions, as well as an effective mode of transport in remote areas.

    Personally, I would have made two parts to this video Single Engine Sea and Multi-engine Sea and that way the Progressive Aerodyne’s Searey would have potentially made the list since it’s been flying for over 28 years and the company has sold nearly 800 aircraft worldwide.

    Interesting video. I have followed a number of these airplanes and I have always loved the Dornier Seastar. A couple of airplanes to consider for any future videos. The Shin Meiwa US-2 is an outstanding aircraft that has been around in earlier versions (US-1) since the 1970s. It deserves to be on your list. There are also a number of Russian designs that aren’t on here. Examples are the Borey LSA and LA-8 amphibians as well as the SeaBear amphibious flying boat. I am still waiting for the final design that Burt Routan is working on and I hope to see it soon. Don’t forget the various Beriev amphibians which is a Ukrainian company. In particular, I like the Be-103 and the Be-200. Thanks for the video and I look forward to your next one.

    • @SovietWarryor
      @SovietWarryor ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Beriev Design Bureau has nothing to do with the so-called "Ukraine". This Soviet design bureau was established in 1934 in Taganrog - in the Rostov region, and is still located there.

      @@Amiga3000D Well, if it's just a mistake, although, to be honest, looking at the actions of your government, it's not very hard to believe in mistakes. Well, for the future, in order to avoid "mistakes" ... the so-called "Ukraine" has nothing of its own: the anthem is a reworking of Polish, the flag was invented by the Swedes, the coat of arms - by the Austro-Hungarians ... however, "Ukraine" itself is Austrian Hungarians invented in 1890. The cities of "Ukraine" were built by the Germans, Poles and Russians. The language is a wild mixture of distorted Russian, Polish and German words. The lands within the boundaries of the present "Ukraine" were collected by the Russian tsars, Lenin and Stalin. Industry ... including design bureaus, was created by the Russians. And "Ukrainians" cannot create anything, only steal. Russians have had a saying for a hundred years: "If the hohol (nickname for Ukrainians) has not stolen anything, then the day is wasted."

      Designed in Germany by German 'Dornier'. Financial troubles, lots of would be backers ended up majority owned by Chinese company but still ended up being built in Germany. Chinese partner is/has building a manufacturing plant in China too so not sure where they will end up being manufactured in the future. It only got certification a couple of years ago I think 🤔 My bet is they will all be made in China once the factory is completed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I like the plane you cite as your # 1 choice. I’d like an option of tripling the engine horse power in a 4 place sports model perhaps converting to turbo prop engines with high altitude lake performance and climb rates for 7,000 to 20,000 foot above sea level short distance takeoffs. Also would like built in wingtop solar panels for camp outs able to charge up all the electronic junk we try to escape from, but always need to keep with us. 4 200 pound adults, 1 hunting door, and able to carry camping equipment and two weeks supply of drinking water and food. More than happy to give up passenger capacity for good performance and good range in the sports model. And an emergency zero-zero parachute system for the fully loaded aircraft. Also willing to give up 50 mph of cruse speed for all this stuff. It should also be able to handle hard landing and g-forces without the wings and engines over stressed and falling off. Would like state of the art Garmin panels pilot, copilot, and back seat panels for back seat drivers and back seat seat kids entertainment center.

      Forget the chute - twin engine. Don't carry bulk water. Get it from your lake or instal desal - still less weight than unstable water! Need small quad to fit in hunting door. Definitely turbo props, climb rate of 4,000 is ambitious but cool, pressurised naturally, with 31,000 ceiling and even longer range. Nice quiet little gen set. Under wing points for attaching hammocks, slide out camp kitchen, external heated shower and an auto inflatable floating air dock.
      Oh, built in rod holders and stubby holders around the plane ... obviously!

    You cannot get China AG600 for USD5mil. It should be around USD30 to 50mil, as it cover range to 4500km and 50passengers. Dornier only can carry 12 passengers, 2000 km cost USD7mil. AG600 should be no1 spot.

    Dornier Seastar only range 900NM as stated in their official website., As for Jiaolong from China, I am sure is much more than USD5mil. Should be at the range of USD25mil above.

      Fair enough, Chinese amphibious aircraft often come with competitive pricing, making them an attractive choice for various industries and government agencies.

    Not practical for the average civilian pilot. Maybe do a $50 - $100k vid for us non-millionaires? 😮

    • @AviationFederation
      @AviationFederation  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great suggestion! There are indeed many affordable amphibious airplanes available in the $50,000 to $100,000 price range that cater to the needs of us regular pilot-owners. They may be used options that are typically smaller in size and may have more modest performance capabilities compared to their higher-end counterparts. Stay tuned for more content!

    Chinese looks like a knock off of a Russian amphibious aircraft.

    • @W0lfbr0ther

      Actually, it is much more likely to be a knockoff of the Japanese Shin Maywa US-2. Which is why I feel that that Amphibian should have been mentioned instead...

    The chinese avic is the best for the price and specs. Dornier is good but too expensive. 🤣🤣🤣

    • @AviationFederation
      @AviationFederation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing your opinion! The Chinese AVIC aircraft certainly offers competitive pricing and specifications. It's important to consider a variety of factors, including price, specifications, and personal preferences, when selecting the best aircraft. While Dornier may be on the higher end in terms of cost, it also offers its own unique features and capabilities. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual needs and priorities.

    i don't know why the "chinese" seaplane is in this list... obviously a Beriev derivative (copied or stolen). Nobody could buy one, and who would want to fly in anything vaguely russian or chinese nowadays?

    • @AviationFederation
      @AviationFederation  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We understand your concern about the origins of certain aircraft. The list includes a diverse range of seaplanes, and while some may share design influences, it's essential to evaluate each aircraft on its individual merits. What specific features or characteristics do you prioritize in a seaplane?

    ...and where do you have the Russian Beriev B 200... clearly the best amphibious aircraft ?...

    • @AviationFederation
      @AviationFederation  ปีที่แล้ว

      While the Russian Beriev B-200 is indeed a remarkable amphibious aircraft, the list we provided focused on a selection of popular and noteworthy aircraft models. Indeed, the Beriev B-200 is known for its impressive capabilities and unique design, making it a notable choice in its category. However, the list may not include every aircraft available, but rather highlights a range of options. Thank you for mentioning the Beriev, and it's undoubtedly an aircraft worth exploring for its amphibious capabilities.

    • @igorderka4960
      @igorderka4960 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AviationFederation ...sorry but if you don't have the Beriev B200 on your list...even on the first place then your list is ridiculous...Beriev is unmatched in every way...and I know what I'm talking about because we were looking for the best amphibious aircraft and the others did not even come close to its characteristics... by the way, in addition to the B200, Beriev also makes larger or smaller models... anyway, you probably won't be an expert...😆
