I can watch this all day. I spent years of being upset. Years of wanting Tony Kanaan win this race. This day was a great day. A day I will never forget.
Wow. I can't even explain the electric in the air when he won. Just unbelievably awesome. I'll never forget the feeling I had when he won for as long as I live
From 2:10:00 on we brazilians weren't able to watch the podium ceremony thanks for the brazilian amateur broadcaster - TV BANDEIRANTES - which trimmed the broadcasting to cover a soccer game.
Same. Tony Kanaan totally deserved to win that race. After so many years of trying and frustration. Just like the commentators said when Dale Earnhardt Sr. won the 1998 Daytona 500.
Remember listening to the ims radio broadcast of this race. Sitting in my car and punching the air when Tony Kanaan won. It was Mike Kings last radio call for the Indy 500 miss him. Great memories.
I have to say that I'm in tears from watching this race! I have to say that I have known Lauren for 3 years and it couldn't have been better for Tony and Lauren! I just can't wait to see them in May! Congratulations Tony, I know that you may Leonardo proud of you!
Thanks Snake! You are the only hope for European IndyCar Fans, since the official IndyCar channel announced the quit of broadcasting the full races there!
Was disappointed to learn that Indycar was going to stop posting these races. I spent a lot of time on the road so this is where I get to watch the races. Thank you for posting, hope Indycar doesn't stop you doing this.
Thank you Tony George for screwing the Indy 500 in 1996. CART should have ran in 1996 despite the 25/8 rule and should have sued IMS and USAC to be allowed to run. The US 500 was so dumb and never should have been organized.
With all of the bad luck TK had at Indy over the years, he was owed this one. Man, if it wasn't for that last yellow, sure seems like Munoz was in a prime position to win it.
I'd love it if Munoz won it in a few years and became champion the same year, also if Sato did the same and also Hildebrand won Indy after his 2011 mistake, I'd be happy for them
mostly lateral Gforces of 5-6Gs in the corners 4 times per 40 second lap. that combined with the fact that you are pulling those Gs within feet or even inches of 2/3 other cars. the best person to drive the indy 500 would be a person who not only races cars but flies fighter jets for a living.
Missed this last year so good to catch up. People like to compare with F1. I have been watching US racing since the eighties on UK TV alongside F1 etc. Each has great appeal but I could not say which I prefer.
I'll see if I can grab an ABC broadcast and upload the pre-race. No guarantee tho as I believe this year NBC seriously cut down on the pre-race and promotional materials this year
Being British I am a F1 fan, but the difference for me is that these drivers cry when they win this race - F1 drivers just look smug. I look forwards to each F1 race and end up bored, even falling asleep - I just watched two hours of racing here and it went in a flash. Then the winner drinks a bottle of milk instead of wasting expensive champagne. Also the commentators are more knowledgible whereas F1 commentaries, especialy on the BBC are just frustrating and keep repeating things like the colours on the tyres, about DRS and stuff a fan would already know. Commentaries in all other sports give credit to the fans to know something about their sport. Its just different and I prefer Indy for these and other reasons. Simply it is more entertaining and emotional. Sorry to all those fans of Murray Walker, but his commentaries made me both sad and mad. But for the likes of James Hunt and Ayrton Senna where would the sport be? It is as characterless as Mr Schumacher, its most succesful champion.
I completely agree. The days of Jim Clark winning with a 2 MINUTE margin are long gone (totally loved that guy) - and now it's much more dicey. I just wish they would throw one lousey right hand turn in there somewhere.
Agreed. F1 use to be a lot more interesting but now it has turned into watching a parade pretty much followed by a sullen winner and a podium that has folks spray champagne on each other, thank a bunch of sponsors, then get in a private jet and whiz off to somewhere where common people will never see them. Having moved to the Indianapolis area recently, I actually see IndyCar drivers around town and they are, believe it or not, normal and down to earth. I ran into Pippa Mann at the Red Bull Air Race actually, super nice and loved talking to me even though I ambushed her in a crowd of people. I also appreciate the tracks of IndyCar. It is a mix that requires multiple skills, not just ovals or street or road courses. The races are, usually, tighter/closer with many, many lead changes. I hope that IndyCar can expand beyond the current tracks and grow!
as an Andretti fan I gotta say when Mario looks down at his smartphone if it was a text I hope it was Michael telling him to tell Marco to grow some balls and start WINNING!!!!!!!!
I'm just starting to watch racing as a sport to follow. What the difference between Indy, F1, and NASCAR? I'm from Toronto, Canada I know we have the Honda Indy which is incentive for me to lean for the Indy. Thoughts?
Indycars go the fastest and have the most diverse schedule (road courses, city streets, and ovals), the competition is very fierce, and the races are always competitive. F1 is exclusive to the road courses (outside of Singapore), but the races there tend to have a one sided dynamic as once somebody gets out front, they tend to pull away and it's usually somebody from one of the dominant teams (Mercedes, Red Bull, or Ferrari). The F1 cars are pretty ugly this year. NASCAR goes the slowest, they race taxi cab like cars, and the product right now is not very entertaining to watch. Indycar does have best product because it's the most fun to watch.
alman666 Thanks! Yeah I was wondering the difference between Indy and F1 racing. The Honda Indy in Toronto had a big following back when I was a kid and I kinda want to relive that glory and hype in the city. Is it worth seeing here in Canada?
*F1* = greatest technology, still greatest speed around turns (even though current regulations make them not have as much downforce as desired), main World championship for car racing *NASCAR* = outdated technology on purpose, strict regulations, 34 races on several types of ovals and only 2 on roadcourses, main stock car championship *Indycar* = nice technology, fastest speed on ovals but 10-15% slower than F1 on a roadcourse, main American open-wheel series *WRC* = big technology, very limited on power but still really quick, only multi-surface championship in the World (asphalt, gravel, snow and ice), time trials on closed public roads on 3 continents *WTCC* = nice technology based after roadlegal sedans and hatchbacks, limited on power, roadcourses of all kinds on 4 continents If you want I can walk you through the main motorcycling championships as well
F1= Far superior cars but not a great level of competition not a lot of passing used to be great sound of the cars but since they've taken the sound away but it's still a great series. NASCAR= A stock car series where contact used to be encouraged but now bullshit cautions and clean air have given the sport a bad name. (And I'm a NASCAR fan) Indycar= Probably the only sport of the three that's actually gaining a following. Kind of feels unauthentic at times because of their "Push to Pass" system. (Basically the driver pushes a button an gains extra horsepower to pass a driver) but they have the best race of the year which is the indy 500
Do have Dario Franchitti's post race interview that they showed on TV? It was the only time they showed the replay of Dario's crash and I can't find it anywhere on the Internet!
So I never watched indy 500. Can anyone give me the basic gist of this? I imagine that f1 cars go faster, but there are sure to be more differences than that
500 miles, 33 car field, and speeds of over 220 miles per hour on a flat 2.5 mile oval. It's an amazing event to watch (especially with the current cars), and things get downright crazy in the last 20 laps.
Loved how there was nothing said by the broadcast crew on that first turn so we can hear the cars. NBC screwed that up the first year they got Indy with the idiot commentator practically yelling over it.. 😖😬
Brandon Slay Born and raised in Wisconsin, less than 30 minutes from Road America. 80mph average in F1? Nope. Silverstone - 146.64 mph. Spa - 149.75 mph. Monza - 162.8 mph. And that's got turns in it, not mashing the throttle for 98% of the race.
Ryan Hipke Why are you guys hating on indycar when there is such great competition. (There's also no Vettel to win every race in every season.) Indycar has a good balance between strategy and great driving.
Michael0075 Let's not forget....Vettel is talented as all hell we know that...but in IndyCar you can run good with a bad team if you have talent...look at Josef Newgarden. In F1 if youre on a shitty team...a top 12 is considered a win. Also, the Indy Cars are a hell of alot harder to drive and they don't race on posh, new surfaces like in F1...they run on the unkept city streets with shit like railroad tracks in the middle. Finally...this is actually a BIGGER issue in F1 than it is in IndyCar..but there's more ride buyers in F1...which means less talented drivers in rides(Pastor Maldonado..and now guys like Kvyatt for example.) The ride buying issue is why the good GP2 drivers are now trying to get into IndyCar because they don't have the money to get into F1.
This was one of the top 3 winner circle's that were the most emotional...along with 1992 and 1977.
I was at the race, this should win the award for the most exciting ever!!!!!!!!!! LIKING! SUBSCRIBING! COMMENTING! FAVORITING! SHARING!
Totally agree. Without the Snake, we could not watch this awesome sport!!! Thanks a lot again!
From 2:10:00 on we brazilians weren't able to watch the podium ceremony thanks for the brazilian amateur broadcaster - TV BANDEIRANTES - which trimmed the broadcasting to cover a soccer game.
Scott Dixon is my favorite Indycar driver, but THIS is my favorite Indycar moment ever.
Same. Tony Kanaan totally deserved to win that race. After so many years of trying and frustration. Just like the commentators said when Dale Earnhardt Sr. won the 1998 Daytona 500.

My hat's off the the op, TheIndySnake. This is the best video quality of any Indy telecast I've seen. Way to go!
Thanks for watching. Just glad there's still people interested :)
I have to say that I'm in tears from watching this race! I have to say that I have known Lauren for 3 years and it couldn't have been better for Tony and Lauren! I just can't wait to see them in May! Congratulations Tony, I know that you may Leonardo proud of you!
A thoroughly entertaining race from beginning to end. Thanks for posting!
One of their best Indy 500s ever! So many leaders and lead changes
Thanks from America....I was at the race, but I like to get a different perspective of it by watching the broadcast too.
Thanks for posting!!! I was there and it was awesome!
AJ's career in a nutshell.
Everytime he has a really fast car weird stuff happens to him.
Thanks dude, I was there and never got a chance to watch it on tv.
Allmendinger was so much faster than the rest of the field. He was making that race look like a joke but got screwed by bad circumstances.
Excellent, thank you. I was there, nothing like being there, but I was counting on you so I could watch it again and see what I missed.
Always makes me smile watching Tony Kanaan celebrating this win after all the close calls in the years before this happened
cheers from the UK :) love how the rear of the car is looking more and more like an lmp1 car every year
thank you snake at last i can watch the full race ..no work .. keep up the good work ..indy uk fan
2013. My favourite Indianapolis Indy 500 of all time apart from many others.
Many thanks to you, from an English motor racing fan.
So happy to have Allen Bestwick in the booth since last year. Why ABC hasn't done that a lot earlier?
This was one of the best Indy 500’s ever in my opinion. I was at this race and enjoyed it a lot.
I was there also in Turn 3 one of the best Indy 500 ever idc what anyone thinks or says
Gage McPherson I was right at the entrance to turn 1.
@@JustAnotherRailfan2026 that's awesome was that your only Indy 500 you have been to I've been going since I was 8 been there from 2002-2019
Gage McPherson I’ve been to the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016 runnings.
@@JustAnotherRailfan2026 that's awesome those were all good races also do you have a favorite driver and follow the series
Great Warmup for today's Indy!
Excellent upload! Good memories : D
OMG....chills at the start!
Thanks Snake! You are the only hope for European IndyCar Fans, since the official IndyCar channel announced the quit of broadcasting the full races there!
Two years since Dan Wheldon won that race this next weekend.
I just watched that race that killed him.
@@isaiahphelps141 he passed away at a 15 car accident in Las Vegas speedway.
Was disappointed to learn that Indycar was going to stop posting these races. I spent a lot of time on the road so this is where I get to watch the races. Thank you for posting, hope Indycar doesn't stop you doing this.
Best race I've ever been to.
+CharmingCharles2896 I'm so jealous. I had to attend a wedding on race day this year, and TK is my favorite driver. Wish I saw him win
The whole crowd gave TK a standing ovation.
+CharmingCharles2896 he deserved it
As much as I like IndyCars.....this years chassis make them look more like sports cars than single seaters.
The passenger of the pace car with the hand signal.. Gave Tony the "Way to go bro!" wave! 2:06:24
Thank you Tony George for screwing the Indy 500 in 1996. CART should have ran in 1996 despite the 25/8 rule and should have sued IMS and USAC to be allowed to run. The US 500 was so dumb and never should have been organized.
I think he is a very talented driver.
Damn this was a great race to watch. I was sitting in turn 1. Too bad I won't be there this year.
Hope to see the 2014 Indy 500...I'm going to miss the live broadcast. =(
Thanks a lot for this man!
Muito bom, valeu a pena.
This has to be the cleanist 500 ive ever seen
The infield looks packed more than the stands
With all of the bad luck TK had at Indy over the years, he was owed this one. Man, if it wasn't for that last yellow, sure seems like Munoz was in a prime position to win it.
I WAS THERE!
As a huge fan of motorsports, I seldom see so much joy in a rave victory. Really touching.
The competition at the 500 just keeps getting better.
Honestly kinda wish that caution with 7 laps to go never came out. Such a great battle.
since I've been watching this race in 87 this is the most deserving win I've seen and Al Jr's is right there maybe a tie
OH COOL THANKS 4 SHARE THIS FULL RACE THEINDYSNAKE....GREETINGS FROM MEXICO CITY WHERE WE LOVE THE GOOD RACES.....
This is how oval races should be. Single file, yet the leader still can't escape from the rest of the pack.
This is the modern day version of hippodrome chariot racing, i love it.
Greetings from the Alps.
I want Dreyer & Reinbold Racing to participate fully throughout the year.
thank you very much, you made my day!
51:23 Jules Goux also drank 4 bottles of Champagne on his way to victory !!! talk about early celebrations.. ;)
I'd love it if Munoz won it in a few years and became champion the same year, also if Sato did the same and also Hildebrand won Indy after his 2011 mistake, I'd be happy for them
Sato is now a two-time Indy 500 winner.

Finally found myself in the crowd after 4 damn years. haha. nice!
big thanks from indonesia, dude :)
"There's no prize money for leading Lap 28." Which begs the question - why don't tracks pay out lap leader bonuses like back in the day?
I'll see if I can grab an ABC broadcast and upload the pre-race. No guarantee tho as I believe this year NBC seriously cut down on the pre-race and promotional materials this year
well done. straight to the point.
I have to say that this place has and always will give me goosebumps until the day I die! Why I have no idea but it does!

That's pronounced tuh-ZON-uh-cus, Mince Welch...
This was unprecedented for the 500 - 68 lead changes is Talladega territory.
When I think about Indycars racing at Indy, its like racing restrictor plate racing at the Indy 500
I think its great.
Check at 1:40 where they show the radar of the approaching rain; someone needs to tell ABC that "updates are ready for their computer!" :-)
10:50 xD the army's reaction
In my opinion, Indy Drivers in F1 would get lapped 5 times every race and vice versa, very different!
i would love to see marco andretti do the one thing that nobody in his family could do...win the indy 500 twice.
jw12061 as an Andretti fan I'll fucking settle for one lololololol!!!!!!!
What an anti-climax.
Cheers for the upload mate.
depressing to see all those EMPTY SEATS!
This is the first race in a while where i don't see ANY EMPTY SEATS
The INDY 500 organization has a pathetic website. Their own greed and lack of imagination are ruining their business.
Remember this race like it was yesterday I was in turn 4
Hildebrand crash is how I turn ☺
"No other cars are asked to go this fast for this distance" uh... the 24 Hours of Le Mans called, I think the LMP1s would like to dispute that.

no f1 doesn't do 230+ mph into turn 1. In, accelerating, f1 would beat.

Turbo, the movie set at IMS....not F1 DRS
This is real open-wheel racing, not that pussy f1 stuff today...and I can say that, I'm german so I got old with f1 racing, schumacher and vettel
