Great video. I drive quite alot around weardale but never really get the chance to stop for long so I never take my camera that much but youve made me want to groverake mine now and do some star shots.
Amazing that the railway sidings weren't lifted. Remember the Blue Circle Cement trains trunking past our caravan in Stanhope when we were kids. Westgate used to be covered in white dust from the plant - buildings, trees, and presumably people's lungs.
There's a bit more to Eastgate than the old cement works. There are the falls on the Rookhope Burn, the old abandoned farms, the views from the hills above the village. You walked straight passed the Cuthbert Bainbridge memorial chapel built by Eastgate's most famous son, Emerson Muschamp Bainbridge, founder of the world's first true Department store, Bainbridge's in Newcastle upon Tyne. Etc. Etc.
@hughemerson4595 thanks! There's another short video in my Weardale series you may like that includes Rookhope Burn. Hopefully more to come from the area soon! 😀

Thanks! Rookhope burn, which we saw at the start of the video, flows right through Groverake too. Its a great spot and on my list of videos to make!
Cool video. Weardale is a class place. Love flying my drone around there
@@ijwdronephotography thanks!

Trundling not trunking!
Eastgate not Westgate!
Great to hear your memories of the place. I remember all the trees along the road being blanketed in dust too.
