@user-th3gy3rb3b Thats a great point from your dad to befriend the Bible so that you know if it's being used correctly. Love it especially because if you know it like a good friend you'll be able to defend the word when someone says something incorrect/wrong about it

Most churches interpret this that you're to show a sign of respect and charity to the brethren, within the cultural framework. Some cultures you would give a Holy Kiss, like Italy. America it's a handshake. In some congregations it's a brother hug. Like in Lutheran congregations we share the peace. It's a whole part of the liturgy. Particularly, in America, I think a kiss between men or even the opposite sex could be construed as licentiousness, like you noted. So I'd think the Holy Kiss is meant to be platonic, and if it cannot be, it should be deferred to another form of physical contact, like a hug or handshake. Or a brother hug, or something of the like. A sign of platonic affection, is what the Holy Kiss means. That was a common greeting in Roman culture.
I bloody freeze when people want to shake hands with me. If brother or sister comes to smooch me they better get ready to turn the other cheek because some slaps about to happen.

I dunno, it seems like you mean well, but I kind of came away from this not really understanding the intention behind the video. It feels like the moral of the story here is that you don’t generally need to do what the Bible says. That might be true, but I don’t think we usually err on that side of the problem. Sometimes maybe we take parts of the Bible too literalistically, but I think more often we a problem of dismissing more of the Bible than we should. I don’t really know how this instruction should apply to cultures where kissing is reserved for specific kinds of relationship. But I do think maybe it is pointing us towards an ideal that our culture has moved away from, and to some extent I think we should lament that.
This is an entertainment channel and the take aways / what we should learn from this is. Taking the bible out of context can lead to people doing things they shouldn't be. Like in this video the characters kept pulling verses saying those things from all over the bible without considering the genuine meaning and what that should look like withing your culture and life. And how if we read the Bible in context there's a lot more peace in our lives rather than the chaos that we see in this video. Hope your doing well. Let me know if you have any other questions
@@ThatsSmooth Thanks for your explanation. Hope you're doing well too. I think I'm just conflicted here, because I see this as an instruction that perhaps should apply to us, but it's just that our culture has fallen too far away from it.
