Yes, you can have 3 different fuctions on the same encoder, so for example press it to turn on the EQ, turn for EQ gain and press + turn for frequency, or anything that you want, for that matter, so you can really handle much more than what's visible, like 2-3 times more things
How are you still liking this unit? I am considering the Micro 4k model. I do have a Console 1 but love the form factor of this and the ability to control many different plugins. The console 1 and especially the UC1 are nice in the fact that you do not have to look at the screen to see your moves and where you are, however, I can see that being stuck to specific plugins feels a bit limiting -- although limiting yourself can speed up workflow.
thanks for asking and sorry for the late response, being able to use it for any plugin is what made me decide for this one, after a few months all I can say on the bad side is that the drivers need an update, the guys from the company already told me they were expecting an update by the end of the year (this year, 2023), specifically my issue is with the software recognizing the device seamlessly, I tend to reinitiate the software and reattach the device and ones it opens, it works flawlessly but before that it can be tricky. The size is perfect, you can carry it with you on a back pack no issues, I probably wouldn't do it, but technically you can. It is versatile enough for my nitpick ridiculous and unnecessary demands, I use RX, it works, I use Ardour and Mixbus, it works, I use Audition, it works, I use Ableton Live, it works, Protools, same story, UAD plugins work, Plugin Alliance, they work, basically the mouse mode is a life savior for all of that. The VST3 host works great for the most part but it is not as stable, and again that's in beta stage, so no surprise. Overall I love it, what I don't love is that I can't easily recall presets for different DAWs, I tend to need and program each plugin for each DAW. And that's an issue that you won't have if you are not jumping all day from DAW to DAW like I do. And I see you mention the software/hardware limitations of other platforms like UC1 or Console1, that limitation doesn't exist with this unit, unless you go to Linux for Audio but then that's witchcraft to start with anyway, not expected to be an usual scenario.
Soo...I have the Console 1 MK2 and the RA Channelstrip 2 (previous 4k, but very similar)...I use the Console 1 more due to the compressor and drive being there. SO, I'd say if you were to get another, I'd get the UC1. WHICH I will eventually get. But, still Console 1 is most used :D
I use too many other plugins than SSL Consoles, so the SSL layout is not really relevant to me so I went with the micro3, but if you are very used to the SSL layout then no questions needed just go with the micro4K 😊
in addition, I do miss extra dedicated knobs for gate processes assignment, what I do is map them to the alt functions but the controller is very sensitive so when I change the Gate's threshold I tend to move he Compressor's threshold slightly and that's never nice when you are being detailed.
Thanks for this review. It is most helpful. It looks like the closest thing to what I have been dreaming of for almost 20 years. 😂
Very good video tutorial.
how about the Q function with Eq .can you press and turn knob without modifying frequency assuming it is the same knob for Q and Freq. tks

Which model would you prefer and why between: Micro 4k and Micro 3?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I ended up getting the Micro 4k to deliberately limit my workflow to the SSL plugins. Will see how that goes.
