Thanks for posting this. I opened mine up from the top and cleaned it three years ago and it still kept over heating to the point it would crash or lock up every time I used it. I used your method to take it apart to pull the fan and the cooling fins were completely blocked with dust. Once I cleaned that out it was back to running cool again. Those cooling fins need to be cleaned every couple of years. Thanks again.
Maybe its time for me to do it then. Havent since 2008 :) No issues with temperatures i think though. Not really loud fan. Looks like thermal paste cant be changed? Any other tweaks for better cooling ?
Thanks for the great video. What kind of SSD can be added to this model? How about RAM upgrade? How much and what kind of memory can be installed? Can the DVD ROM be replaced with another SSD or something else? maybe a second graphics card or a second NIC?
I have to say opening was fine But a small paint brush wish a hover is the only way all you are doing is moving most of the dust and tissue fall apart and crate little bits ! maybe i will show you how to do it and while its apart upgrade the thermal on the CPU
Hola, la limpieza está incompleta. Tenés que desarmar el capuchón que envuelve el cooler y limpiarlo, además aprovechar para cambiar la pasta refrigerante. Saludos
Thanks very much for answer. I broke the switch , and, when I start the notebook the wifi is off. But, with a needle, I change to ON position, and works. Wifi is ok. But the switch dont works more. When reassembly the notebook, the wifi switch have to stay at the right position. IF dont it Will be broken. Thanks much.
My power port is broke. How do i repair it? Its not the port itself. Its the case thing around it. Flimsy/flopsy. How can it be removed? Maybe i can glue. Dont understand why its so flimsy. Never dropped the computer or anything.
Hi. I do the same in my vaio ( the same model the video ). After assembly , de wifi switch not work. Seems like after mount, its not conected with nothig at mother bord. Its have no action. I lost any part of wifi switch during assembly ?
hello friend, you need to disassemble it again. and look closely at the wifi connector on mother board and switch on the notebook body. This switch has the slot for wifi connector on MB. Do it again, considering this information and everything will be ok
Good, but I cringe when I see no cloth on the work surface when folk flip them over to open the backs. If you 2x the speed you see how much 'sanding' you do on the top logo and lid. Also keep all screws separated in small bowls to side as they are also potential scratching source. Gently vac out the dust, just brushing locally, spreads it all back again.

Any noticeable difference in fan noise after cleaning? That's why I want to pop mine open. It's so loud! Thanks for the video.
