Heavydirtysoul is the prequel to the Trench trilogy - that was the first time we saw Blurryface, who appears in this video as well on the white horse - but has now developed into Nico (one of the 9 bishops) when he starts following Nico he says "i'll be right there, but you'll have to grab my throat and lift me in the air" and "I'll stop my plans, but you'll have to hold me down and then break both my hands" meaning if the bishops are going to control him, they'll need to stop his ability to make music the people at the top of the cliff are Banditos - those are the good guys - they are there to provide support to Tyler to help him escape (yellow is a sign of hope so throwing the yellow flowers towards him is showing him hope as well as you can see it really upsets the horse) - the bandito left at the end was Josh (not Tyler looking down on himself) Trench is a concept album, it relates to the storyline, but it also can relate to real life - in this song the Tyler is afraid of the pressures of a new place (new place being this world as well as a new place in their career after now becoming famous worldwide entering this album) the storyline of the city of Dema is basically Tyler is trying to escape the city and the ruling of the 9 bishops - the bishops job is to keep people trapped in the city so they can control their minds - this song starts out with Tyler outside the city of Dema and Nico is coming to try to bring him back to the city - he eventually catches him at the end and so Tyler will now be back trapped in the city of Dema to start Nico and the Niners
What’s up Zack! This song is so fire live as u can imagine. I’m sure others can elaborate more than me, but here we go. Guy on horse is Nico/blurryface(leader of 9 bishops), next song in trilogy is Nico and the Niners. People outside the trench are banditos(good guys) who have already escaped from Dema, and trying to help Tyler get out. Lone standing bandito with mask at the end was Josh. Final lyrics were “you will have to grabs my throat and lift me in the air” and “tie me down and break both my hands” basically saying you will have to kill my singing(throat) and my writing/piano playing tools (hands) if u want to stop me. I learn new stuff every day, so just keep reading our comments And you will be good to go.. keep up the good work and get well soon
The Trench Trilogy is very cinematic. This was filmed in Iceland and Nico and the Niners was filmed in Ukraine. And yes, this follows Heavydirtysoul, but there was a “hiatus” of a year where they went radio silent - partly in response to how crazy things got after the success of the Blurryface album, but also to allow Tyler to work through his mental health struggles. He makes reference to the hiatus in “Chlorine” which was released after the trilogy. So that’s why Jumpsuit begins with Tyler saying “We’ve been here the whole time. You were asleep. Time to wake up.” During the hiatus, Tyler poured himself into the creation of this album and the entire narrative (lore), which he used to battle his inner demons. He brought them to life so that he could study how they controlled him and how he could break free. Trench is the journey between two places. The next album will conclude the storyline and journey. As you mentioned, yellow is the sign of hope. It’s a color the Bishops can’t see, so it is the rebel color of the Banditos. Josh is the leader (torch bearer) and tries to help Tyler escape. But sometimes when you are trying to help someone battling mental health issues, all you can do is be there and offer encouragement and support. That is what the yellow petals represent. It helps Tyler snap out of the control of Blurryface after he “smears” him with the black paint. Tyler runs but can’t fully escape. Tyler even changed the TØP logo from |-/ (Blurryface era) to ||-// (Trench era) representing the extra bar of protection. The Jumpsuit can be anything that gives you hope and protection against the forces trying to pull you down. It can be faith, family, friends, etc.
Your commentary on this one had me cracking up. It’s probably partly because I’m thinking the exact same thing you are half of the time 😂 I really like your 21 Pilots reactions 😊
Yeah, once you catch on to the main plot then things will start to make sense. All metaphors around the challenges of mental health and finding balance. The yellow as a sign of hope is important, as you summized. For me, one of the best parts is the bridge when the Banditos are tossing yellow flower petals to Tyler. Reminds me of the confetti at the concerts. That's us on the ridge reminding Tyler there's a way up out of the Trench. East is up, where the sun rises and we can try again. Themes you'll hear about in the next song, NatN, and from others. The cycles of mental health like the cycles of day and night. Just think of this trilogy in the context of struggling with overcoming insecurities. The black paint on Tyler's throat and hands represents his insecurities with singing and writing music. The great thing with TOP is that you can extrapolate other connections because of the way Tyler writes his lyrics. Dema lore can be a beast, but you're doing great! And yes, HDS is a prequel to this trilogy. |-// 💛
love how cinematic the video is. you definitley need extra information to understand the underlying story the band released lots of background info to fans on a hidden website so it's always cool to ask questions if you're confused because the videos are designed as like a taster for you to dive more into the story. i think having to search together to make sense of everything the band releases helps bring their fanbase together and feel more connected.
You asked if that was Tyler looking down at himself at the end. Actually, that was Josh. lol The Banditos throw the "yellow" petals to Tyler, showing he can get out. They don't do more to save him, because has to save himself.
I feel like your channel would be more fun if u listened to the song then went back an dissected the song. Not everyone can pull this off but I think you can. The ones that can are very analytical and it works especially for TØP! Just consider it.
Mayve it's because you're sick but I don't think you enjoyed this song. Maybe you should just try to enjoy the song and not try too hard to catch everything. I love this song a lot. I'm sorry you didn't.
You did interpretate this very good, and I can see you're pretty bored, but stay on this and finish the triologi. After that do Ode to sleep as I saw that suggestion, but please don't do it just because we say. Tinsy bit more interesting if you do what you want. Hugs from Sweden.

Yes to all of this! Great explanation and I hope he reads this!

PLEASE do "Ode to Sleep"! It shows them coming up and it's a ride! I definitely want to see your breakdown of it 😊

"suit up for a new day" ...precisely!

Sir! There is NEVER too much volume! CRANK IT UP! We can turn it down if it’s too loud on our end but I can’t turn it up! 😂😂😂

Did you hear about the hiatus? They took a break from social media. And then they came back.
heavydirtysoul is the prequel in a sense...about to watch this one now...excited
Blurryface (dude on the horse) was driving the car in heavydirtysoul
Oh goodness, wait until you get to levitate. Lol skeleton clique in the house
❤
This would have been a good one for headphones….panning. ✌️😊🧿🌼
I had enjoyed your Pentatonix reactions - have you given up on them? There are so many originals, and covers, that are amazing.
