I know the majority of our players are used to the enzo system, but I do have my concerns of playing this way in the premier league.
The main weakness of this system is that it leaves more space out wide and puts us at risk of the counter attack when the ball gets overturned. The level of wingers in this league is so much higher and Hudson odoi and Elanga had so much space.
I am also not convinced we have the right personal for the 3 man defense in possession. There is a reason enzo did not like Justin at LCB, and let's be honest he looks a shadow of the player he was pre injury. He used to have good recovery pace and was a brilliant 1 vs 1 defender, but now he looks poor to me.
Vestergaard suits the middle centre back role though as he is good at breaking the lines, but faes anywhere in a premier league defense is a problem! I am tired of defending him. Good centre backs are the ones that go unnoticed, but he has a mistake every other game.
I am not 100% sure on the solution as this season we were always going to lose more than we win. Maybe we just try to outscore teams as we have scored in every game thus far. I do think that we need to keep a settled starting line up for 5 games or so and try to get more fluidity to our game, however with hard fixtures coming up and likely defeats, cooper will more likely keep changing.
Coopers team are at there best in chaos, but this style of football in not sustainable long term. We need to be ruthless and get a manager who has a clear identity. This will atleast bring confidence to the players that they have a manager who knows what he wants, which lets be honest Cooper is winging it with the help of Coady 😂.

Puzzled by much of the discussion, you need a game plan against each team rather than a supposed 'winning system'. Premiership opposition will have analysed how Leicester play and the weaknesses of the team and individuals. The best example is how Forest beat Liverpool at Anfield by stopping them playing their usual style, giving them no space wide and closing everyone down, so that their supporters put the loss down to star players having 'off days'. Cooper has the best performing side of the 3 promoted sides. Averaging a point a game isn’t a bad aim for the first season, when newly promoted.

Losing a game is not a big deal. Now the manager's job is to point out the good thing and limit the error on both sides, offense and defense. I saw a lot of good things. Especially with introducing RP it helped fox to build up offense smoothly.

Genuine Question from a Forest fan. But are your expectations for this season realistic? Burnley, Ipswich, Southampton etc… even Forest are recent examples of the gulf in class between championship and premier league. I don’t think it’s as simple as saying “if we played the way we did last season then we’re going to be fine”. In cooper’s first season he tried sticking to his championship style of play and we got found out - very quickly. If we hadn’t adapted then we would have been relegated. Players would have preferred to play more on the front foot, but at the end of the day that doesn’t matter. The only thing that does is survival. I dont know enough about Leicester to know if this is fair or not, but last year you had a team stacked of lower half premier league quality. You got through FFP on a loop hole and so I think there’s an argument to say that you had an unfair advantage in the championship (not a fair test or comparison) with a good coach and you’re still a lower half quality prem squad.
Finally I would add that maresca is at a team that leaks plenty of goals…. If you had him this season then it would be the same, with the difference being you don’t have a billion pound squad that can score more goals than most others to bail you out.

skipp has played some mins for spurs at left back so that's a potential player for inverted role as a back up to ricardo. Certainly a way better option than choudhury.

I just finished watching the replay. I don't think we played badly. NF just cashed in on a few mistakes the defense made.

Making the mistakes Leicester made is the definition of playing badly. The second half performance was awful and the first half performance was what should be expected from any Premier league team at home, even more so in a derby. Forest were miles ahead of you in almost every aspect of the game. Saying that doesn't mean you're going down. Finishing 4th from bottom is a reason to celebrate, I should know. Luckily for us last season and you this season, there are worst teams that will keep you up.

NF defense was very good. Three or four players closed on whoever carried the ball near the box immediately

If you stick with Cooper he’ll keep you up but can’t play that style against certain teams you’ll get torn apart. Honestly your defence is awful, central midfield would say is decent but need to have game without errors, wingers are terrifying but do they have killer instinct? Vardy well quality. Like you said at start need to beat Ipswich. Credit for giving Nuno his applause after tweaks to tactics

I'm a forest fan but this reaks of coopers first season in the prem with forest tried 4-2-3-1 lost or got battered a couple of times he will revert to type with a 5 back. He might keep you up if he doesn't get sacked but next season can see the same trend with what happened at forest 🤔

Leicester fans are self entitled they are doing wayyyyy better than their team should. Cooper is doing a good job, but the Leicester fans have never given him a chance. Their fans genuinely believe they should be top 10.

All the rubbish about players guiding formations and style of play, do you realise the way you played in thr first half is exactly how our forest team lined up before we got tanked by s couple of teams when we got promoted, he then altered his style of play to gain enough points to stay up. All this Enzo bol&#£s is just nonsense. Cooper is actually an attacking manager, when he thinks he has the squad to carry it. Probably saw that we were missings gibbs white, danilo and Sangare and went for it

lol what a very silly comment.... First half yesterday identical to Enzo Maresca's system last season. Ricardo as an inverted rightback sitting in the pivot with winks. Ndidi in a high 8 role sitting alongside Facundo who took KDH's place from last year...
Please do some research before commenting. Steve Cooper has never in his whole career played an inverted fullback. now go back and watch the game and see where ricardo was when lcfc were in possession.

@@BlueTintedGlassesLCFC he did do it in the championship, Colback would invert next to Garner and Yates would push up next to Zinck behind the front 2 only difference was it was in a back 5 where you'd see Spence join the attack from the other wing back.

Made no sense for Leicester to appoint Cooper as it's going from one style to basically the complete opposite and the most he'll ever do is scrape survival - he's not someone that you'll ever progress under as he's not a PL manager and beating Southampton who are abysmal and who were down to 10 men is no big achievement.
As for Cooper, he's never going to get the time he had at Forest as he has no credit in the bank with Leicester fans and they'll always see him as ex-Forest and so can't understand why he took the job as a few bad results and Leicester fans will turn on him. Our fans mockingly singing his name proves my point. Cooper shouldve taken a job in the Championship as that's his level
