I remember like 6+ years ago now I used to raid in an MMO with a guy who was a huge destiny fanboy and it was how I learned of his existence and my clearest memory of it was when he started some big argument with other members of the group about how "if sex was as normalized in society as a handshake, then pedophilia would be totally normal and morally acceptable" and apparently this came from some fucking debate destiny had with someone
So yeah, I don't know the formal definition of a debate, but in my view there ought to be some moderation involved. This was more of a shouting match. I couldn't stand listening to more than 10 minutes of it. Currently reading Finkelstein's book on Gaza. The man is well versed and knows his sources. He shouldn't let himself get trapped in bullshit discussions like this one or with that absolute psychotic lunatic on Piers Morgan's show, at least not without demanding some decent moderation.
Disagree. There are a lot of debates that are bullshit entirely. You usually run into the issue of poorly educating people and promoting the other position. Destiny however is a rare opportunity: a literal child of Cuban slave owners obsessed with his own limited capacity to absorb knowledge. If you can dog walk these people you should, because it doesn’t show just that they’re wrong but it shows that you shouldn’t listen to these freaks. As for the Piers Morgan show, I haven’t seen it, but I forgive it because it’s probably helpful while the fighting is ongoing. As for shouting, honestly this comes off as a childish opinion. Yeah people shout when a dumbass runs up to them with dumb bullshit about their life’s work in an effort to own people. It’s not debate club. No one is scoring points and since this is completely informal it shouldn’t be treated as such.
i think hasanabi’s assessment of norm is a very astute one: he’s INCREDIBLY well-versed in this, he KNOWS what he’s talking about and that he is completely, utterly, entirely correct. unfortunately, and perhaps even partially BECAUSE he knows how right he is, he is a *stubborn* fucker. he will harp on the same thing forEVER because of how stubborn he is, and it’s definitely one of his downfalls. he still owned d-man though.

The only one of those people qualified enough to be an actual source cited was his Pro-Israel debate partner, Finklestein is a mouthbreathing pop historian freak who shouldn’t be taken seriously by anyone, and if you want clear evidence of that you should actually try watching more of the debate than the X clips you probably watched. I surmise because it is such a relatively ( in terms of gross numbers ) actually relatively large niche market which streamer model extremely uniquely surgically targets for clout- & attention- … and this part is keynote, direct-affirmation-microeconomies. If OF & camgirls are vicarious substitutive sexual/intimacy need filling via make-believe ‘connections’ & ‘experiences’ mediated virtually & digitally vs the mostly male NEET mark-consumers, what streamers and especially heavily overcommitted [ ‘overcommitted’ - ie., Density abandoned his kid, has money from his grift but ostensibly still doesn’t appear to even have the ‘respectably fraudulent’ off-the-clock accoutrements of like skimming from the gullible or pathetic big bucks … he like doesn’t take his cheddar and go to ribald vacations or his off-stream nights, and like apparently grooms weird NEET girls in ‘chat’ as his primary foray to meet those needs ] … anyway, oddly enough what really overcommitted players at streamer model can do is just like lean all the way in to promoting parasociality with largely male NEETs. In this way, being these weirdo comment bots you find swarming every public mention of homeboy’s name are, in analogy with the vicarious substitution for IRL sexual & intimacy-meeting life in OF & cambiz; Density sort of pantomimes the same model vs the same sorts of dudes, but rather than sex/intimacy mirage; Density selling then ‘me and my bros’ homosociality / comradeship mirage for NEETs who got an equally gaping hole there as they do with sex, for the same reason. Look how they descend on every keyword mention of his name ( as an aside, dumbfuck ‘Madonna’-like moniker but for the growing mom’s basement NEET proportion of males under 45 ) in what I would call exactly like a vicarious-cathartic ‘me and bros’ performative ritual that parasocially substitutes for like having an actual friend’s back if someone tries to start a physical altercation IRL.

I love Chapo but this first guy (dont know his name i love him tho) has to fix his mic. Either the mic itself or the post, it sounds like it's trying to mute background noises automatically and it cuts out some of his words, it makes his cadence a little frustrating to follow

The parasociality psychosis with streamer culture is truly bordering on the psychotic. I surmise because it is such a relatively ( in terms of gross numbers ) actually relatively large niche market which streamer model extremely uniquely surgically targets for clout- & attention- … and this part is keynote, direct-affirmation-microeconomies.
If OF & camgirls are vicarious substitutive sexual/intimacy need filling via make-believe ‘connections’ & ‘experiences’ mediated virtually & digitally vs the mostly male NEET mark-consumers, what streamers and especially heavily overcommitted
[ ‘overcommitted’ - ie., Density abandoned his kid, has money from his grift but ostensibly still doesn’t appear to even have the ‘respectably fraudulent’ off-the-clock accoutrements of like skimming from the gullible or pathetic big bucks … he like doesn’t take his cheddar and go to ribald vacations or his off-stream nights, and like apparently grooms weird NEET girls in ‘chat’ as his primary foray to meet those needs ]
… anyway, oddly enough what really overcommitted players at streamer model can do is just like lean all the way in to promoting parasociality with largely male NEETs.
Look how they descend on every keyword mention of his name
( as an aside, dumbfuck ‘Madonna’-like moniker but for the growing mom’s basement NEET proportion of males under 45 ) in what I would call exactly like a vicarious-cathartic ‘me and bros’ performative ritual that parasocially substitutes for like having an actual friend’s back if someone tries to start a physical altercation IRL.
