for anyone confused, this is for counselling psychologists, not clinical psychologists. clinical psychologists require a phD from an RCI approved institute. other than that, the video was helpful, thank you.
This was such an honest video which also was like an assurance and a warm hug. I am currently in the cusp of choosing to switch to a counseling psychology field by a Masters abroad and go into this field, or continue what I am doing (have been a journalist, now working as an editor and an operations executive in a start-up) and make my career in this field. The thing about making money and especially switching at a later stage in life is keeping me stuck and indecisive. I'm afraid of making lesser money but also feel like I was interested in this in the first place to provide support that I didn't have growing up. Since I moved away from more idealistic and helping fields, the motivation has become money but I already feel like my heart is not happy which I might have with a counseling job. Becoming a psychologist is not everyone's job. U need to have the power to heal people. If u want to live in a 95 L cost flat with 10 numbers of 4 wheelers and want 15 servants then it's better NOT to choose this career.

Maybe as a self employed practitioner? If I do get a master's degree, do I have to continue it with a phd or will a master's be enough?
Actually Indian government does not recognise it. You will not be allowed to pursue phd. But you can do job in private sector, they really don't care about recognition much.

i think it is not phd but Mphil which gives you RCI approval
U are wrong PhD will never make u RCI certificate.... U need professional diploma in clinical psychology or m. Phil ...
