I love this painting Ellen. Loose paintings are my favorite style, however, they have been a challenge for me. I gave this one a go and was very happy with my result. I adore wisteria! Thank you so much for the inspiration. Keep them coming. I am feeling more and more comfortable with every attempt. Enjoy your holiday weekend.
I love how you layer the wisteria blooms, starting out very loose and then embellishing them until they are perfect.. always enjoy your tutorials, I've been a fan for a long time. Thanks!
Oh Ellen, this is beautiful. The wisteria is among my favorites. Love your tutorials. And you make learning "fun." Thanks for sharing your fantastic expertise. ❤🎨🎶
Wisteria is my FAVORITE spring flower! I love when you can smell it before you see it. These loose flower paintings are so much fun to do. Thank you for this!
My dear friend just returned from Italy and mentioned the beautiful wisteria there, I think I will try to paint this for her. Perfect timing Ellen, thank you! 💙💜
It’s beautiful! Your guidance with the step by step process, gives confidence that I can create a reasonable facsimile! Your encouraging words are appreciated. Thank you, Ellen. I love using your floral tutorials. I receive the nicest compliments, probably overstated. Since I am in my 80s, I don’t have time to “practice” & dispose of duds! But my friends say they’re happy to have a “throwaway” than have nothing or wait forever on a masterpiece.🤣
When we were in France a few years ago, there was a beautiful wisteria by a bench at Chateau d' Amboise. My mom and I went over to take pictures..... until we heard the bumblebees.
I absolutely love that it's beautiful! I enjoy the abstract florals the most. I am going to watch again and try to paint along. I have a question though. I have a background already painted, just waiting for me to get the courage to try this. Should I rewet the whole page again, to splatter and start some blooms, or do I just start painting wet on dry? Thank you for another wonderful tutorial!
I LOVE the loose flowers! More please. I do have a question: when you say the brush is a “long round” do you mean the hairs are long or the handle is long? I’ve searched for “long round brushes” on several art supply sites and they act like they’ve never heard of such a thing.
I’m a big fan of loose painting and I love these vines. I love that the first layer wet on wet now look almost like shadows. Really lovely!
Thanks for another tutorial. I personally love the more loose style. I love watching the colors mix and blend together. Have a great day!

Cool one
In Japan the brush you used to wet the paper in your tutorial is called a Hah-Kay ( Hake ) brush. Hope that’s helpful.
Lovely! I do prefer realistic looking. Thank you!
That is beautiful. What would consider the focal point to be?
