    Wow~~I have had the same experiences with doctors while taking my Mom to the doctor. There's a pill for everything (one leading to another, leading to another....) and I often get the feeling that people are viewed as guinea pigs (especially older folks?), by some doctors. I agree with you~~there are wonderful doctors and modern medicine saves lives, but the younger generation of physicians seem to be taught to address a computer and follow the protocol, while ignoring the 'individualism' of patients.

      My parents (both in their 80's) have a doctor who won't let me talk with her about my parents medication and herbal options. She says that none of the herbs have been tested for human use. I guess it's a good thing I'm a Vulcan. 😅 She was trained with the same mindset, there's a pill for that. 😮 Funny that my mother was dealing with liver issues and the medication didn't help much after a 3 month period. I gave her a dandelion salad twice a day with lunch and dinner. Within a month, she was a lot better. God's gift of natural medication works so much better than synthetic medication. Thanks for this video, doc.

    Hi there! I just came across your videos yesterday, I am addicted! I have been playing with herbs for years, it’s my passion. Tinctures and infused oils for salves is what I enjoy the most. I love dandelions, but since I have been living in FL for the past 14 years, I have not seen 1 dandelion. I have researched it, not happening. 🙃I absolutely love your videos. Thanks!

    I love what you said about the older doctors still looking at each case instead of a chart. My husband and I have talked about that a lot lately. I have actually had an orthopedic surgeon who is in his late 80s that has done more for me for my chronic back issues than younger doctors with all of their new technology. I have also noticed the new pediatricians who have seen my children were preoccupied with charts, whereas the pediatrician who treated me as a child and treated my oldest child looked at the child and the case and had much more success...

    At 37:09, there was a discussion about eating Dandelions and being allergic to latex; well, I personally am allergic to latex and I can eat and use the plant medicinally in all the different ways, externally as well as internally. I am not speaking for anyone but myself. Just wanted to let anyone out there know this if they were curious.

    Knowledge will always be power. I respect the fact that you mentioned God. God provided everything we need. I am not a saint. My family gets sick on occasion. I don't miss work. I eat garlic, elderberry, colloidal silver, lambsquarter, and a lot of things nature provides.
    We sell produce. My childhood doctor said, " if it taste good, spit it out"! I didn't take his advice in accordance to honey, turnip greens, mustard, or other home grown foods
    Go see your doctor, and look at your options.

    Bravo!!!! That intro was epic!!! LOL!!! Thank you for making the extra effort to answer the questions. I just had a thought about the latex.....Would someone that is allergic to the latex be allergic to the dried or tinctured dandelion or does that take the latex out of the plant somehow? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

    • @HomeGrownHerbalist
      @HomeGrownHerbalist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a really good question and I actually don't know the. answer. Some sources say that dandelion latex lacks the antigens that cause the allergic reaction to rubber tree latex. Other sources say if you have latex allergies, don't take dandelion. I'm still trying to find the certain truth on the question but have little hope. In the men time, if I had a latex allergy, I'd probably use something besides dandelion.

    • @jabohabo3821
      @jabohabo3821 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Easy. Give them a 1 hr soak in some vinegar water solution.
      Any bugs will usually come out.
      But also bugs aren't necessarily toxic at all.
      But chop up the flowers and put them in a solution of 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Leave them to soak for an hour and then agitate. If there are any in there they will have floated to the top. Then it's a bit meticulous but yiu can pop them out
      Honestly though it's pretty much unnecessary especially if you're making a tincture

    Hi Doc Jones, I love your TH-cam channel because I am trying to learn the medicinal plants that I didn’t know existed & just come across because of my interest to keep native honey bees in our local area & looking for flowering medicinal plants as pollen & nectar forage for the honey bees. I heard that you have problem of digesting vegetables in the morning & you had a ruptured appendix which means you are lacking in eating fermented food that I came across last year. Please refer to one of the references I read about the wonderful power of eating fermented food that you can try with your herbal tea by fermenting it through Kombucha making plus other food & drinks that you can absolutely ferment.
    Here is part of the material from one of the references I read about the benefits of eating fermented food that will help not only with your digestion but with your optimum health: A changing microbiome
    But one of the biggest benefits of fermented foods comes from probiotics. Recent research suggests that the type of gut bacteria in the bodies of Americans is changing. One possible reason is that the microbiomes in our bodies are not regularly replenished the way they were in past generations. That's because of changes in the American diet - particularly the rise in processed foods - and because of better hygiene, which cuts down on the number of microbes people are exposed to naturally through dirt and other contaminants, according to Dr. Ludwig. In addition, antibiotics are used widely and can kill off beneficial organisms along with the bad ones.
    Changes to the population of gut microbes may create an imbalance between beneficial and harmful gut bacteria, leading to health problems. When the digestive tract has an unhealthy mix of organisms, it can actually lead to a weakening of the walls of the intestines, which start to leak their contents into the bloodstream - a condition referred to, not surprisingly, as leaky gut syndrome, according Dr. Ludwig. Chronic exposure to these substances leaking out from the intestines has been linked to a host of health problems, ranging from asthma and eczema to schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease, he says. Fermented foods can bolster the gut microbiome, creating a healthier mix of microbes and strengthening the walls of the intestines to keep them from leaking.
    Link: Fermented foods can add depth to your diet
    April 19, 2021 Harvard Health Publishing Harvard Medical School.
    Again thanking for sharing what you know about medicinal plants which is well appreciated.
