I've been enjoying your videos for... 3 years now? What I like about your channel is how enthusiastic you are about each and every location you visit. But this one you can tell was really special for you. I can't wait to see more of that fish roll footage.
Thanks for watching! The capelin roll was fascinating.!!
Yeah! Were there any fisherman there (Logy Bay?) casting their nets and catching the capelin/ That is really incredibly beautiful to watch.
Congrats on 30 years of living your best life together!
Way to go on those steps Carrie🎉👍💯🥰
Thank You! And I surprised myself. I am going to attempt a hike In New Hampshire that has a lot of steps as well.... The Flume Gorge in Franconia State Park.
@@oneadVANtureatatime- Are you coming back to the US soon?
In 81 degree F. heat as well. Although there was quite a breeze. Going down is one thing; coming back up is another. Signal Hill and Cape Spear (Cap d'Espoir is the orignal French name corrupted into Cape Spear (no S)) are both overdeveloped now. An ex-boyfriend of mine worked on the Signal Hill archaeological dig back in the 1950s as a teenager. He came home exhausted and told his aunt, "I"m like Irma La Douce; I'm only doing it for the money!" Wow! When I used to visit Signal Hill in the 1970s, there were no steps. Nobody went below the parking lot. It's quite a view though. Cape Spear was really isolated. Have they removed the lookouts and gun placements that were put there during the 2nd World War? The most Easterly Point in North America certainly felt remote in those days.
Happy anniversary and many more!!! Beautiful video. Gorgeous scenery!!! Safe travels!!
Thank you
@ 26:03 all I can say is WOW! Congrats on 30 years. Your still the best of friends. That's the way it should be. Carol and I have been together for almost 16 years and I wouldn't change it for the world. Still miss you guys. Be safe and be blessed.
"Every day is a good day, some are just better than others."
Agree...except yesterday..lol!!! Flat tire and brake problems again....
@@oneadVANtureatatimeawe I am sorry to hear that. Hope all is well.
What a wonderful place to celebrate 30 years of marriage! I thought the Early Spring locations and views were stunning, but these are just as jaw-dropping amazing. Roodle looks so cute with his Summer cut; he & Dave are matching dudes. :) Safe travels and stay well.
Yes, it was! I think we arrived a few weeks to early, but it was so cool watching the progression that was happening during the 3 months that we were there. I would say to go May 15th to August 15th to see the most!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Some of us like it cool. Actually, I think this year has been a particularly warm summer in Newfoundland. I celebrated my 43rd anniversary yesterday by catching COVID here in Kingston, Ontario. I was longing to celebrate my 40th this year because we've had to cancel every year since 2020. We'll be celebrating our 44th next August 30th and I hope that we are in better shape than this year.
Happy Anniversary you two! You could not have found a better spot to celebrate! Your wedding picture was just adorable ♥
Thank you so much!! We agree!!
Congratulations on 30 years! Hope you enjoyed those beers Dave!
THANK YOU! And He did!
We sure are enjoying running our fans all night thanks to your help with our battery upgrade. We can't THANK you enough and we think of you often. Haven't even worried about power in the last year.
@@oneadVANtureatatime You need fans on top of Signal Hill in your van? Maybe, Cap d'Espoir (Cape Spear) would have been cooler?
Congrats on 30 years, yall have aged well. Susie and I will be celebrating 35 soon. Luv your adventures. Thank you for sharing.
I think you should keep going up to Canada to different areas each season and film it like you have Newfoundland.
Also, you are living life large....most are scared to do so. Kudos to you. Enjoy your life.
That's a great idea!
Your music choice is so beautifully coordinated with your videos...we'll done!
Thank you very much! I search for the right music that matches how the location made me feel when I was there. Or the vibe that I got off a location.
Absolutly awesome, fabulous, fantastique filming . You guys are the best! You make Newfoundland so tempting. You are great ambassadors for Canada. We as Canadians appreciate all your positive comments and descriptions of our country. We were ther 27 years ago.Thank you, enjoy and safe travels. See you in the next video. ❤️👏
Happy anniversary you two. Beautiful place to celebrate your life together ❤. Keep on trucking! 😊
Will do!
We’re going to St Johns in September. Now I know where we should go. Happy Anniversary!
Fort Amherst is right there by signal hill. There is another way to hike the narrows that does not involve all the stairs. The parking looked pretty tight and I didnt want to push my luck with dave and driving in the city.
I have to say, your Newfoundland series has been the best. I haven't seen anyone else do that area; that I watch. I know Alaska will be exciting if you go that route but Newfoundland tops it in my belief. Happy anniversary to you both.
Boy! That Quidi Vidi place! Miam! Can’t wait to visit! Thank you for such a great intro - it’s helping our preparation!
I've been gone away to long, thanks for the memories. The water would be spots of black when the caplin were rollin. You didn't even have to get your feet wet and you could fill up 5 gallon buckets of caplin. What a feed Mudder would cook up when we got home. Cheers
Another fantastic (or is it VAN-tastic?) video! Glad you enjoyed my hometown, St. John's NL! I may be a smidgen biased, but I think it's a magnificent place, too! Quidi Vidi Brewing Co. is a great place to enjoy a fish & chips, a flight of unique beers (especially the one made with actual iceberg water!) and a view of one of the tiniest working harbours you'll ever see! Happy Anniversary ... I guess you're celebrating your 31st very soon! 🎊🥂🍾💗🎶
I also particularly enjoyed the music you chose to accompany your footage of Cape Spear and Signal Hill hiking trails. So well done!
Happy Anniversary, many more advantures together 🎉❤

HAPPY TRAILS DARLINGS🤠💖😎
It's left over from World War 2 if you are talking about Cape Spear. the other one on Bell Island is a leftover from when Bell Island was a serious iron mine. I'm claustrophobic. Those 2 shots gave me the willies. I could never be a miner or hide out in a protected fort to watch for Nazi ships. Newfoundland was a seriously armed fortress during World War 2 , especially St John's where the convoys formed to take food to the U.K. and other supplies and soldiers.
I love Roodle’s new hair cut. This is my all time favorite. You are really good at cutting hair..
That was epic. Happy anniversary. Thank you for sharing this amazing place. Safe travels.
Thank You!
Congrats on 30 years. We loved Quidi Vidi as it is so picturesque.
Thank you! we agree about Quidi Vidi. I almost always leave an area and wish I had explored more of it.... i feel this way about Quidi Vidi.
Roodle Doodle!!!! Happy Anniversary!!!! Luv you guys!!!!
Thank You!
First of all...Happy 30th Anniversary! The two/three of you have such an amazing life. What a wonderful video and such a beautiful place.👍😁
Thank You so much!! It's not all rainbows and roses! We had a flat tire yesterday, our brakes our giving us problems again, and we are about to pay a few thousand $$$ in maintenance this week. After five years this was expected.... thankfully we are in a place (financially) to keep the wheels turning. Thank you to our subscribers and patrons.
Happy 30th Anniversary, hope you have a fabulous day.
Thank You!!
Ahhh!! Another "gorgeous" video. Simply beautiful. Happy Anniversary!! 💐🥂🍾!! What a place to celebrate it.
Carrie, I thoroughly enjoyed "our" hike together. I was pulling you up the stairs 😁.
Sad that you had to say goodbye to such dear friends. But it was fun to follow you all on your journey together.
Hugs to Roodle!! Have a great week!!

Thank you so much! Those stairs were something.!! We had a great time with Ed & Maria.... I just wish the weather would have been better for them.

Oh, I'm soooo envious! Incredible beauty. And cool, livable temps. So glad you're experiencing all this -- even the 1 million (264) steps ;) Good job. Happy to be traveling with you... virtually.
30-year anniversary? Congratulations! And how darling is the wedding pic of you youngsters! Here's to 30 more 🥳💞
You guys have done such a good job showing us eastern Canada. Next year u should try Vancouver and up to Alaska.
Wow, 30 years that is awesome. Congrats.
Thank You!! That is the plan. We shall see if it happens. It's time to check in with mom again. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. She was given 1-2 years without treatment and 3-5 with treatment. My mom is stubborn and defies all odds....so I wouldn't be surprised if she lives 10-15 years after treatment...lol.
We are taking one day, one month and one year at a time.

I ❤ you 3!!! Your videos are helping me plan my retirement travel. I wish I could do it now but it will have to wait until I'm 70. Counting on meeting people to caravan with like you guys do. Happy Anniversary 🎉
You can do it!
Don't wait too long or you won't be able to climb back up Signal Hill.
I’m so glad you did the north head trail 500 steps and all. It’s my favourite trail but now at arrival age of 86 I don’t think I can do it anymore. My daughter whoever does it every morning 6 AM with her two friends from work they are all retired now.
That is awesome!

Well, it's not hard, back-breaking work...lol but the number of hours we put into each video even surprises us at times.

I am wondering if your numbers have increased based on this trip? My bet hugely so. Keep doing adventures like this.....and you will capture a ton more!
YES, they did go up a bit! Still consistent slow growth so we are happy!
Just to mention last Summer Van City Van Life was there and your filming was far better to watch and showed more of the area!!! Good work you 3.
THANK YOU! I remember when he was there. People suggested that we watch his newfoundland series, but we travel, boondock, and make videos very differently from each other.
Happy anniversary you two. Absolutely fantastic video!! Just awesome!
Thank you
Happy anniversary 🎂🎂❤❤ what a great view for it ...
Thank You!!
Happy Anniversary 😊 absolutely beautiful spot! I'd spend a winter there before deciding to become a citizen! With all that wind winters could be horrible!
I totally agree!
Yeah! Google Snowmaggedon! I've seen blizzards hit St John's, but that one was wild. Maybe, the budget for snowclearing in St John's is higher than it was in the 1970s. People used to walk in the roads because the sidewalks were unplowed. Very unsafe IMHO. Actually, it rains a lot in St John's. I used to wear a heavy Aran knit woolen sweater with a rubberized raincoat over top of it and rubber boots. The rain at 32 degrees F. and so the woolen sweater kept me warm and the rubberized raincoat kept me dry. Perfect. Much warmer in St John's than in Kingston, Ontario, but wet. I did a lot of walking to and from from the university to our apt, too.
th-cam.com/video/4-VBVr9Rk9U/w-d-xo.html Snow clearing after a huge blizzard is really something else. An American on the equivalent of fb a couple of decades ago accused of lying about my husband who has no hands. He claimed that a guy without hands wouldn't be clearing snow. He doesn't know the Canadian male. They all are born ready to shovel snow. LOLOL! Snowmaggedon would have daunted my husband though. . . just a little bit.
Another awesome video. What a great place for lunch.
Thank You! yes, it was!
Great job friends! Looked like an awesome time. Really looking forward to next weeks video. Take care Bill and Ellen Smith Cincinnati, Ohio
Thanks 👍
Yes, you do need Alaska! I was anticipating that you were heading to "The Great Land" this year. Is it in your plans? I will be watching regardless. Love you guys!
That is the plan. We shall see if it happens. It's time to check in with mom again. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. She was given 1-2 years without treatment and 3-5 with treatment. My mom is stubborn and defies all odds....so I wouldn't be surprised if she lives 10-15 years after treatment...lol.
if all works out.... we are Alaska bound! Also, it seems this is the year of van maintenance, we shall see how the finances hold up.

St. John is one of my favorite places.
We are not fond of big cities....St Johns took us by surprise!!
What a great way to celebrate your 30th ❤❤❤
Yes it was!
Happy Anniversary. Great video.
Thank you
I was there many decades ago, like 6 decades. As I recall there is a ferry that goes across the Bay of Fundy to somewhere in Maine. I do remember seeing many, many miles of river in Maine just covered in logs waiting to go to the mill. I don't think they do that any more. I need to get back there. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give Roodle a treat for me.
I have heard of that ferry...I think it's called the CAT ferry.....something like that. We Just left Maine after spending 10 days at Moosehead lake and they are actively logging again.
The Bay of Fundy is not in Newfoundland. It is between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. St John's is miles from the Bay of Fundy. Maybe, you are thinking of St John, New Brunswick, a port city?
@@dinkster1729 I probably am thinking of St. John, it was 57 or so years ago when I was there. I know we went from New Brunswick to somewhere in Maine.
The fish & chips made my mouth water!
It was so GOOD!!!

Those were the steepest stairs I have ever seen!

It’s Ironic. 4 of my favorite Tubers are in Canada traveling around and exploring. Best thing is I get to see all your different views of Canada and all different areas. How old is Ruddle? He still has the puppy in him! Happy 30th. Still close loving couple. So great to see. Stay safe stay healthy

Holy crap. Congrats on 30 years!!!! Couple fun facts to know. Number one is I am always right, except when I am wrong. Number two is I know that place says they are the furthest east in North America but they are wrong. Shockingly the furthest east spot is in Alaska. Think I am wrong? Do some deep research and find out I am correct. You guys are on such an epic adventure I so appreciate you taking us along.

Headed to Charleston SC in my camper van. Video on Tuesday!!
enjoy...walk over that famous bridge and get sunset pictures. I regret not doing that.
The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (also known as the Ravenel Bridge and the Cooper River Bridge[3]) is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in South Carolina, US, connecting downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The bridge has a main span of 1,546 feet (471 m), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere. It was built using the design-build method and was designed by Parsons Brinckerhoff.
@@oneadVANtureatatime you know your bridges pretty good!!

You just posted this video. Cool.
Did you go over to the other side where there is another lighthouse? That has a marvellous view. Also, many people miss this side, because signal Hill is so prominent.
I thought about it. I decided it was probably best not to push my luck with Dave driving in the city. I tried to lure him with the boats but he didnt bite...lol

Thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
Carrie and Dave. We sit here watching your video and my husband says, "I wonder who inspired them". Tell me, who? Your videos are awesome!
Wow, thank you! it's a long story!
I guess it really started with our parents. Daves parents were very outdoorsy and moved a lot. My parents moved us out in the middle of nowhere.... we did not have electricity or cable tv... so my brother and I were always outside playing. When Dave and I got married we spent our honeymoon camping at Jedadiah Smith State Park in Crescent City, California. For 20 years we had always been tent campers! WE LOVE THE OUTDOORS!!! We would go every chance we got. So about 3 years before van-life we took our heavily modified jeep to Moab to do some off-roading....... cause that is what you have to do if you own a jeep...lol!! While we were in Moab, we noticed that there were people camping or boondocking on public land! Not just 1 or 2 people but dozens! In all kinds of rigs: tents, camp trailers, truck campers and one or two vans (it wasn't as popular as it is now). Dave said, "I want to do that! I want to boondock on public land off-grid!" I laughed at him and said "Thats not going to happen"! You see I grew up off-grid before living off-grid was cool. My parents were financially challenged!! So, we didn't have any fancy off-grid things that exist today, or my parents couldn't afford them...... so my vision of off-grid living wasn't as glamourous!! Fast forward two years...I'm (carrie) working in a medical office. This elderly couple came in and I was helping them...to make a long story short...the husband was caring for his very sick, wheelchair bound wife and they both needed a surgery. this big manly man broke down in front of me (in the middle of the waiting room) with dozens of other patients around and started sobbing uncontrollably!! He said, "WE WAITED OUT ENTIRE LIFE FOR OUR GOLDEN YEARS...AND NOW WE ARE TOO DAMN SICK TO ENJOY IT"!!!! That hit me hard! That night I went home and told Dave let's do it! Dave had continued to dream and look into ways of how we could do it.... and in the 2 years it took me to say yes...VAN-LIFE was the new hot trend! A month later we sold the jeep and bought our van....our family thought we were crazy! Now which youtuber inspired us when we started out:
Carey On Vagabond...they were our age.
Nomadic Movement... very sincere and generous to everyone around them
Elsa Rhea & Barron... authentic, true to themselves and not pretentious
Aemon & Bec...they were having so much fun! They inspired my (carrie) videography...
great question
@@oneadVANtureatatime amazing story!!!
Said what ? You can't compere RV travel with working on a job daily with good days and bad days. Be happy & enjoy every day in spite of the great workout you did climbing up. Congratulations on your anniversary !!!
Wow! Were you guys twelve years old when you married?! Lol. You’re so youthful I would not have guessed 30 years. Congratulations. I love your videos!
Yes! Thank you! When we were first married i used to get really irritated at the round of questioning i would get. It was usually the same questions and in the same order.
Your Married?
How long have you been married?
How old are you?
Do you have any kids?
It got to the point that I would answer the questions in order before they had a chance to ask....... looking back, I can now see why!! We looked SO YOUNG!!!
Bonne anniversaire from Raymond ans Nicole ❤
Thank you!
FYI guys - Cleanest air in North America is in Newfoundland.
Happy anniversary guys thanks for the video. Hey roodle!
Thank you! Roodle says Hello!
Funny that you should mention how much of Newfoundland reminds you of Ireland, as most of the population are descendants of Irish immigrants who arrived there a few centuries ago. 🇮🇪 ☘️
We would love to go to Ireland someday!
@oneadVANtureatatime Well, in terms of geography, climate and people, Newfoundland is as close as you'll get on this side of the Atlantic. Have you noticed the Irish influence in the Newfie accent?
Why suddenly end???
Happy anniversary!! You look way too young to have been married 30 years!! Can a big rig park at the Geo Center? Is it officially sanctioned? You said Dave had poor sleep, was it due to the location? Also, how many days would you recommend in St. John's to really do it justice?
+Srac you could probably get away with one night at the geo center gif you parked off to the side and in the back. I would say at least 3 days… 4 if you have bikes to ride…..5 days if you don’t want to be rushed.
Which day did you visit the Signal Hill?
I believe it was Wednesday June 21st. It was the first sunny day in weeks, and it was crazy busy! I wouldn't even attempt it on a weekend during the summer. It would be okay if you went for sunrise but there were still more people that I expected at sunrise..
What did you do, get married at 14? You don't look old enough to have 30 years. Congratulations!
Sorry guys but Greenland is part of North America and so therefore they are the farthest Eastern point.
But greenland is an island... The reason there were so many tourists is because this area is recognized as the eastern most part of the mainland... they didn't just make this up.
@@lunatune3714 you made no sense at all.
@jimmyjones4095 😏😏
