    I saw The Irish Rovers a couple of times here in Kamloops. My parents, siblings and I always had a great time singing along, jumping around and clapping. We once were pointed out by Wil Millar. who said that he hoped everyone was having as good a time as we were. Ah, memories.

    My father absolutely loved this show, along with many other Canadian music programs back then. Tommy Hunter was another he never missed. We lived out in Haney on the South Alouette river when this episode aired. I would have been 11 years old and remember many nights our home was filled with the sound of music from all over Canada. It was a great time to be a kid.

    And now for a true story, Wayback in time when I was a very young boy living out in the hills of Connemara, those Irish Rovers were always hanging around outside our gate drinking milk and laughing their heads off. Later I found out that were living at the bottom of my garden, they were up to no good, into trouble causing fights and arguments with their neighbors, they never stopped causing trouble day and night. many times I had to go out of my bed in the middle of the dark cold windy winter night, go down to the bottom of the garden and help to settle those wilder Irish Rovers down,

      It is called "The Feller From Fortune" - here are the lyrics
      Oh, there's lots of fish in Bonavist' harbour,
      Lots of fish right in around here'
      Boys and girls are fishin' together'
      Forty-five from Carbonear.
      Chorus:
      Oh, catch-a-hold this one, catch-a-hold that one
      Swing around this one, swing around she;
      Dance around this one, dance around that one
      Diddle-dum this one, diddle-dum dee.
      Oh, Sally is the pride of Cat Harbour,
      Ain't been swung since last year,
      Drinkin' rum and wine and cassis
      What the boys brought home from St Pierre.
      Oh, Sally goes to church every Sunday
      Not for to sing nor for to hear,
      But to see the feller from Fortune
      What was down here fishin' the year .
      Oh, Sally's got a bouncin' new baby,
      Father said that he didn't care,
      'Cause she got that from the feller from Fortune
      What was down here fishin' the year.
      Oh, Uncle George got up in the mornin',
      He got up in an 'ell of a tear
      And he ripped the arse right out of his britches
      Now he's got ne'er pair to wear.
      Oh, there's lots of fish in Bonavist' Harbour,
      Lots of fishermen in around here;
      Swing your partner, Jimmy Joe Jacobs,
      I'II be home in the spring of the year
