- In this video, I demonstrate how the Stock Studio One Gate Plug-in can be used to generate accurate MIDI triggers which can be used to do sample replacement or sample layering when working with drums tracks in PreSonus Studio One.

Great analysis! I switched to Studio one after 20 years of Pro
Tools, and boy, after a month of learning path, I couldn’t be any happier!
I’ve been watching studio one videos since it launched from a lot of different channels and Marcus should have more subs than anyone because he seems to be the most knowledgeable and a great teacher. Also he shares all kinds of tips and ways of doing things that know other channel does.
Great additional update to the first 2 videos in this series.
Thanks as always and keep up the excellent work.
It's very appreciated.
Great addendum to the first two and cool example of using Studio One for electronic possibilities, which is my style of creating. I've been thinking of using a gate on various tracks to create patterns and this fits the bill; now I'll do it instead of thinking about it, or painstakingly editing waveforms.
I was watching this and something came to my mind, thank you for your videos btw ! Love your work ! But yes It doesnt have to be fixed velocity if you analyse the original clip as a whole and use the groove menu to get the velocity by dragging the clip into that little groove box then using the velocity slider and range slider, you can then apply this to the new midi clip and viola ! Without changing the timing of course ! 🎉🎉🎉
Great video, liked and subscribed!
It has all sorts of applications. The gate doesn't have to follow four on the floor bass drums.
Amazing I didn’t know S1 did that, shame it’s fixed velocity made you could side chain a filter from the original kick to help match it.
Hey i have just posted a about how to do this in the comment section :)
superiour drummer has a great way to make midi notes from audio transiets
Very interesting. However, if drum replacement plugins avoid all this work, they'll pay for themselves in no time. What's your experience with these plugins?
