Great intro to this guy and the IM world. I like how he's so analytical & chatty about racing, training, and race strategy. Soooo much more interesting when the athlete you're filming is open & has a big personality.
Sam your so strong ! Great pace even when you are tired from the heavy training. You are amazing! Keep doing what your doing, I like your focus. Good luck to you on your next race. You got this. USA is so proud to have you!
this guy is amazig.... Thiago Vinhal... so nice. love him. he is from Brazil. we are so luck to see this guy training. . nice vibe, so fun and good tri athlete.
I can understand his approach to the fast 400 und even faster 200 after the actual race pace training even though it makes physiology no sense and the chance that a similar event (like Sam describes with the right bend and the positioning for a sprint finish) accures again is very unlikely. ☝️😁 He could train as well with only one shoe to be prepared in case somebody steps on his heel in the last k so that he looses his shoe. 😉
I don’t think he can race a 65 minute half marathon. Tooo heavy and tooo much excuses on trying to figure out strides/cadence… just neeed to be more aggressive and make it happen
Yo yo yo! Never expected to see SAM LONG in this channel
Will always root for that guy. Respect for showing his workouts on strava

It is always eye-opening to see the people behind the times. Runners are people not just robots. 👏
Really enjoyed the conversation between you two, Matt! And love his sense of humor and not taking things too seriously

speaking and running = bad training!

He has done sub-15 5k in the middle of a massive training block. 65 minute half isn't much of a stretch if he was tapered.
He ran a 69 half marathon at the end of a half ironman. A 65 fresh is reasonable
