Bumped into Paul Whitehouse a while back, I work in a shopping centre and suddenly heard a voice behind me asking me If I could help find a car in our car park, turning around as done many times before to help customers, it was Paul, with his wife and daughter, in shock, and sort of hyperventilating (been a bit of a fan for years) had a little conversation whilst helping, you know, sort of "oh what brings you to this neck of the woods", i think he said something like shopping, lol a bit obvious, but got him to his car and he thanked me then his little girl said bye as I was walking away, I looked back he was holding her hand and was encouraging her to wave, thoroughly bloody nice bloke, did not ask for selfie or autograph as, did not want to intrude on his privacy.
I can imagine Paul being very down to earth in real life, his characters often have a loveable side to them. I'm with you on how to be with famous people- treat them as anyone else, it's too tiring to expect them to be "always on"- they're entitled to a life outside of celebrity. Though this is sometimes easier said than done if you're a bit awestruck!

Paul is not just a great comedian but one of the finest actors who's ever lived. His performance as Rowley Birken QC reminiscing over his long lost love brought me to tears instantly the first time I saw it and the effect hasn't worn off since. Paul achieves such pathos with little more than looks and gestures, barely a comprehensible word but you know Rowley is suffering agonies. The great Johnny Depp, one of the finest actors of our generation said he thought Paul was the greatest actor who's ever lived and asked if he could have a guest slot on the Fast Show because he admires Paul so much. I also love the fishing series with Bob Mortimer. "DON'T wind in Bob!!!" "If I wind in will you strike me Paul?" "Oops, he's fallen over again already." "and awayyyy".

He had an amazing ear...not only for accents etc, but the jazz scat singing he did on 'jazz club' was so accurate and in tune...and then there was that unexpected 'operatic' breakout he did in one of the Lee & Lance sketches. VERY, VERY talented and funny guy!
I’ve been a fan of Paul Whitehouse since the 80s, he’s so talented. I’m loving his collaboration with Bob Mortimer and Ted the dog, Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing, the deep bonds of friendship and affection between them is evident. BTW, I loved The Fast Show too…scorrchio😉.
Paul first really came to light on the first Harry Enfield series where he played supporting characters and came across as maybe a bit of a side kick. As time moved on he proved he was every bit the equal of Harry, so that the Harry Enfield show became Harry and Paul. I draw some comparisons with Bob Mortimer, who started out playing characters on Vic Reeves Big Night Out, then subsequent series became Reeves and Mortimer.
For Americans - JuzzyP is complimenting her on her youthful looks. I remember a film in the 1960's called 'She' and it was about a beautiful woman that never aged - they bathed in some mystical fire or something like that (I've not seen it for 40 years, so give me a break). Maybe Jennifer Connolly has some similar fire she stands over, completely naked, to maintain her looks - that's what I see in my head anyway.
I watched the Gone Fishing show with Paul and Bob Mortimer, you can just tell they're two wonderful, nice human beings. All celebrities could take a lesson from them.

I did not know David Bowie and the first time i ever saw him on screen was Tesla in The Prestige so imagine my shock going backwards to see what he looked like as an artist.
