@@simonwesterlund2151 Generally, it would be inadvisable to directly confront these creatures. Rather, it is best to undermine their authority and to convert their followers out from under them. Lolth is unusually active with oppressing her followers, complicating matters. Elistre, Lolth's primary drow deity competiton, is more about showing drow a better life than directly confronting Lolth, so if you attempt to convert drow, do so towards Elistre to empower Lolth's greatest enemy and sap Lolth's strength. That said, you will find yourself on Lolth's hit list the moment you bring up Elistre, so you will have to speak in codes. To be honest, the only effective way for an adventurer to bring about Lolth's demise is to trick her into instagating a conflict directly with multiple other deities of comparable strength simultaneously. Lolth is wise, but she is a devious, selfish, sadistic scemer who revels in others' undoing. All you need to do is convince her up to poke the wrong bear at the same time as you set her up to provoke a greater deity and to contact Elistre to make sure a suitable replacement is available for when Lolth gets taken down. Then get out of dodge and hope the coalition can deal with her. All things considered, your allies are more liable to turn on you for it than Lolth seeking retribution, as if she survives, she'd probably prefer to give you one of her tests rather than kill you, as you would have successfully schemed greater deities into meeting their demise at her hands, making you immeniately useful to her in the longrun.
So hook Elistre with multiple greater dieties? Great idea! Also damaging her holy territories would be great. Also the divine sense blocking would be great since if you worship a God like Morradin then perfect. Although she's a greater diety now so fk...
My friends and I playing Out of the Abyss, we summoned 7 demon princes and a Lot of lesser demons inside Menzoberrazan. Was pure chaos. We might had pissed Lolth a little bit.
If the priestesses and magelords of menzoberranzan still retained their power, it could conceivably drive off those demons. So players and DMs seem to forget that drow have a well-earned reputation for faring better than most races against demons. Especially in the underdark where their magic and weaponry are at full strength. Remember they mass-produce weaponry that can effect extra-planar creatures far easier than other communities because of their faerez- radiation powered adamantine weapons. Not to mention their demon-lore. Their schools train them on how to fight such things because they are more likely to encounter demons since they literally worship, mate, enslave, and traffic with them more commonly in their cities than most races. Most nobles wield weapons strong enough to hurt greater tanari. The houses on menzoberranzan's ruling council equip their soldiers with weapons ranging from +2 to +3 enchantment and most high priestesses are practiced in banishing extra-planar entities. They are literally taught the true-names and strengths/weaknesses of demons and devils during their training at the academy. Sure demon lords are trouble, but menzoberranzan is one of the places on Toril where demonic victory is no sure thing. Besides, most demon lords and generals aren't too keen on attacking a center of Lolth's worship because there would be retribution for it in the abyss by their goddess and her minions if she didn't sanction the assault.
I know she's sadism incarnate.... but everytime I see her gain another scope of power, I can't help but feel happy for her. Ambition is only as good as the success it brings.

You said once that a god's power deppends on it's portifolio. The god of shadows was relatively weak, while the god of darkness was very strong. The god of forests would be very weak when compared to the god of "Wild Nature" since that is an immensely better portifolio . If that's the case, just how powerful the portifolio of "Spiders" would be? I think not much honestly. For me, she is putting on an act to appear more powerful than she actually is!
She also has “drow” as a domain, and is devoutly worshiped by them. Any deity would want to project strength, but you have to admit there is some real strength here.

Just discovered your site - in a word, WOW! Only got a few minutes in to the Lolth vid and subscribed! Speaking of Lolth, I'm so glad I saw your vid because Her stats that I've come across before (including Q1 (+5econversion), D3 (+56e conversion), and various Homebrew sites) have never felt like they had Her up to par - then I saw your vid! Again, WOW! Reason for searching Lolth stats: I've created a major extension to the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure that revo;lves around Her and the alien Xenomorphs She has brought through a portal inj Her bid to overtake Faerun (She is in guise as the Xenomorph Hive Queen)... After the PCs final encounter with Her as the Hive Queen where Her 'disguise' is unmasked, hopefully (they haven't got there yet, I'm still running my campaign) they will banish Her, and She'll go back to Her Demonweb for a time... Next I'm adapting D1-D2 and D3 for them to continue their pursuit of Her/stop the Drow rising up to keep harassing surface-dwellers, then plan to link that to Expedition of the Demonweb Pits, before, finally, the PCs will actually encounter Her fully in an adapted Q1 - but She needs to be BIG and way more POWERFUL than any version of Her I've found to date... Your description of Her and Her stats/powers is exactly what I've been looking for - I took notes on all you reiterated, but I was hoping you had or could direct me to an (online) stat sheet for Her with all the stuff you mentioned, etc. I can use the D3 5e-conversion of Her for spells, but I'd prefer if you could link me to a complete picture of Her stats/abilities/spells/actions/etc , if possible. Q: also, where did you get all the info on deity levels, etc? Thx in advance
I am so sad of the recent drow retcon. Several years back I ran a homebrew "Restoration of Aurneshee" campaign. You see lolths fall and creation never sat quite right with me. I dont mind lolth and drow being evil but I never liked the circumstances that it happened "naturally". So in this campaign the PCs discover ancient histories that piece together the true story of Corellon and Lolth. A third goddess homebrewed Named Naulodii (the ever maiden, first sun goddess, bytopia) was Aurneshee BFF and encouraged the couple. The overgods warned corellon that elves were to OP (after the titans caused a ruckus) and had to be toned down or they would take action. He refused, elves were beautifu and he the most beautiful. So they poisoned Aurneshee but the poison would only work if her heart which was pure could be broken. So when she gave birth to Vhearun( who had no defense in the womb), Corellon grew angry, he banished Volkur and turned away from her, briefly looking to other goddesses that might give him a child. After some soul searching Corellon returns to Aurneshee with apologies and is sure he can set things right but the damage is done and aurenshee pure heart was broken and the poison rushed in. After lolth came to be, Naulodii set a path to separate Aurneshee from lolth. A work of countless millennia, Naulodii has waited until lolth gained enough power to separate into two divine beings. Waited for a certain band of adventurers that just might pull it off...

Awesome video! Though personally, I have to say I’m glad that for the most part 5th edition moved away from giving gods stats, as I think that it gives the false impression that they can be killed in a practical sense, as well as sort of limiting what you can do with a deity. Of course, the law of DM supersedes any published stats anyways, so it doesn’t really matter, but I agree more with the current design philosophy regarding the stats of deities. That all being said, this was a very interesting and well put-together video and I enjoyed listening to it! Keep up the great work my dude.

They shouldn't have. A Nat 1 on an attack roll is supposed to be an automatic miss regardless of modifiers, the same way a Nat 20 is supposed to be a automatic hit, regardless of AC.
@@letsplaysvonaja1714 Sure, all rules are at the discretion of the DM for the benefit of the game or the enjoyment of the players. Personally wouldn't enjoy being robbed of one of the core balancing aspects of 5e's combat system, in the 5% chance that an attack, regardless of the power of a creature, will still miss. Once you have a creature that can hit a player regardless of their roll, at that point you're just rolling to see if they crit, which is a little dickish.

If you guys want some neat homebrew statblocks for deities, I recommend the "Ulraunt's Guide to the Planes" series on the DMs Guild. Currently, there are only 2 books, but include rules for not only fighting deities (while technically not possible in canon DnD lore, but its your game so you can choose to allow it) and levelling up your characters beyond level 20 to compensate. If nothing else, the books have some baller art for the chosen deities.
Yeah see that's the thing with Challenge rating...it REALLY falls about with that logic, especially at high level. I've seen fighters go toe to toe with Ancient Dragons and nearly kill it in a single round of melee combat by themselves. What the CR probably doesn't take into account (which it doesn't consider for monster CR when challenging a party) is magical items. So sure Stat wise and ability wise a PC may be considered level 12 but you throw into that a PC fighter who is fully decked out with a +3 weapon, +3 full plate, A cloak of protection, winged boots and a ring of protection with the great weapon master feat. You've got someone that can throw out EIGHT attacks in a single round with a (assuming strength is 20) +9 to hit if using GWM feat (which is +15 without it) and dealing 2d6+18 damage (or 2d6+8 so even if the fighter rolled minimum damage on all attacks that's still 10 damage per attack and 80 damage in a single round). And they can do that two rounds in a row. If fighter gets even remotely close to a Lich (which is a CR21 creature) they can literally kill it in a single turn or at least severly hurt it if it blows it's reaction on the Shield spell. God forbid their a Samurai which can make all their attacks that round be at advantage meaning you're going to be criting on at least 1 or 2 attacks usually. I'd say a fully magic item'd out PC would be at least CR18. I've seen a party of 4 level 17s demolish an Ancient Dragon in about three rounds even with the DM playing it smart.

@@TheFuriousBrother yeah he gives us the recipe of how one would kill them, like all their weaknesses and rival that might help kill him, but I would like to hear how he’d personally use would go trough with doing it.
Although she's a greater diety now so fk...
let not forget those wonderfully hard to destroy artifacts.
I would love playing in a campaign run by you. Such attention to detail.
I'd be happy with just seeing a online game, if the players would be up for it. But being one of the players would be fantastic indeed.
My friends and I playing Out of the Abyss, we summoned 7 demon princes and a Lot of lesser demons inside Menzoberrazan. Was pure chaos. We might had pissed Lolth a little bit.
Meh, sounds like just another Tuesday in Menzoberanzan.
Yeah probably. But the real nightmare is that any survivors can just roll up like: Yeah here's your bill for destroying our city lmao.
Sounds more like Lolth allowed it to happen because she enjoys Chaos
Nah. She was enjoying the fireworks.
Your 2 Drow/Lolth videos are ver appreciated, since my party is about to enter Menzoberranzan
That Eilistraee video inspired my most recent character, a Drow Bladesinger, and I'm really proud of how she turned out

@@bayoubilly5176 I love the story of Corellon and the rest of the elven pantheon really. No. Lolth is bad, but she doesn't want to destroy the multiverse. There are worse gods than her. She still craves power and dominance over creatures and gods, but there are gods/primordials/elder evils who want to END everything. They are the worse because in some cases they can do it and are only held in check by prisons of their minds. Creatures like Shar, Tharizdun, or Kronus.

I tell all of my fantasy enjoying friends about your channel. so much inspiration and knowledge comes from you! Thanks, Mr. Rhexx
She has an entire race of people as her portfolio, not to mention lies, deceit, betrayal, evil acts and many other things in her portfolio as well.
@@igorgabriel2972 as far as the "entire race" goes she is still as good as Khurtulnak, the god of Kobolds.
Lies, Deceit and Betrayal sound like strong portifolios for an evil god, but when you compare it to things like: Murder, Decay or Corruption you can see what i mean. If anything, being god of Lies, Deceit and Betrayal just support my theory that she is putting on an act
@@Daile0303 I dont know if she still has it but i think she once had fate as part of her portfolio along side divination. i think she was gifted these from when she was still "good" furthermore she has a reputation for trying to killing minor powers to add onto the list of many minor portfolios. that being said you are right in that it can be inconstant on how strong she should be.

WotC can get rekt.

In BG3 you can lie to a spider that youre Lolth, if you roll well and lie good she wont mind but if youre a bad liar she'll get angry.
Frankly considering what we know about Lolth and her influence im shocked she doesn't take it step further by making your Drow character vomit up spiders or setting your entire inventory on fire so you have to fight the spiders naked.
I guess Lolth has diminished influence outside of the Under Dark otherwise Minthara would have been spider chow.

Amazing video as always!
