Many years ago I was diagnosed with lung cancer. When I received the call from my doctor, it brought me to my knees. I was 40 years old, in great health, beautiful wife, two young children and reasonably successful. However that moment was the most freeing moment of my life. And dare I say, as difficult of a journey as cancer has been, it may be the biggest blessing in my life. The military example is spot on. There is no hope that the things of this world offer. As soon as we die to self, real life begins.
So good I can really relate. I hope I don’t miss the opportunity I will have to today. Just trust God has got it but you have to give it to him. We got this you guys. Love ya al
Amazing peace, when we let go and let God ! Thank you John for your wonderful Formation Conference over the weekend. You were right it should be called the Transformation Conference !! Thank you !! God bless you 🙏🏼❤️
Thank you John for the "good measure" for today. The dying to self has confounded me to really understand what it means. I felt it was beyond my comprehension. Today's illustrations & quotes clarified this...wow. I'm already dead and now I can live 100% for my Savior. HalleluYAH!!!
So grateful for you Rose for sharing your experiences with our Become New community - may it help others find the clarity you have - we appreciate you being with us. Keep coming back! Bucky
Good morning John, I hope and pray this gets to you. My son, who is currently at Biola University studying for his Masters in Philosophy not only loves you but loves Dallas Willard. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to meet him but would love to meet you one day for a cup of coffee. I know it’s a long shot but God moves in miraculous ways. No pressure but it would be the coolest blessing for you two to sit for a cup of coffee. I think you would love the kid.❤. We talk about your videos everyday pretty much. We work together when he’s not in school so we have a lot of time together. By the way, I love this series. God bless you John for all you do! M
You are a wonderful, and tender mother whose love and heart for her son is beautiful. Please email Tim at tim@becomenew.com and I am sure he will reach out to you. Thank you for not only sharing your request - but you heart. It is truly a gift - Bucky

good morning ☀️ yes, step 3 is a huge one…surrendering…I definitely don’t believe it’s by chance but God has been showing me the blessings and His grace of what happens through surrendering. Not just in my morning reads but in daily life. Miracles small and big and yet and yet again I struggle…
I wonder if God is telling me something? This morning my daily devotional by Chris Tiegreen (which is about the Kingdom) ended with these words: “Think about that. Both within the church and beyond it are walls of division that hinder the flow of the gospel of grace. Expressing honor brings them down. Why wouldn’t we want that? It may be our instinct to withhold honor from those who oppose us-or even just rub us the wrong way a little-but that does nothing for the Kingdom. We will have to take delight in expressing honor liberally-to enjoy it and enthusiastically spread it around-if our spiritual revolution is ever to be successful. Only then can people see the real Kingdom culture and thrive in it. ADDITIONAL READING: Philippians 2:3-4 Goodness is something so simple: always live for others, never to seek one’s own advantage. DAG HAMMARSKJÖLD”
Thank you Judith for sharing - we appreciate the deep desire for driving for the Kingdom. I love we will have to take delight in expressing honor liberally - if our spiritual revolution is ever to be successful We are grateful for you and encourage you to "keep coming back" Bucky
Sorry to disagree, but according to scripture I am no longer a sinner. God is not just a ''power''. You don't need 12 step programs to be saved or to live a progressively sanctified life.
He is not saying that you need the 12 step program to be saved. My take is he is teaching one way to grow and mature spiritually. Surrender took me years to understand and more importantly embrace.
@@billlottman7339 I agree with you Bill. Unfortunately, @gregbarron9450 according to scripture--you are a sinner. Jesus teaches us to pray daily "forgive us our sins and we forgive others" so he is anticipating that we will need forgiveness from sin each and every day. Also 1 John 1:8-10 tells us that anyone who claims to be without sin is simply deceiving themselves. Now, you may not need a 12 step program, but any person seeking to obey the commands of Jesus (do not even be angry, don't look lustfully on a woman, love your enemy, etc.) is going to need help and will require a journey of both surrender, and effort. We must be taught and discipled--trained for a life of holiness. Blessings to you -tim
Unfortunately, Greg according to scripture you are a sinner. Jesus taught his disciples to pray daily, "forgive us our sins as we forgive.." inferring that we will, ourselves, need daily forgiveness from sin. 1 John 1:8-10 states that anyone who claims to be without sin is deceiving themselves. Sin in the greek literally means to "fall short of the mark". If you are regularly falling short of the way of Jesus--you are literally a sinner. We may not need a 12 step program to become sanctified, but we are going to need something to learn and be trained (discipled) in obedience to the teachings of Jesus (do not be angry, do not look lustfully on others, love your enemy, etc.) with the Helper indwelling and the church supporting. Blessings to you -tim

“The person who doesn’t have anything worth dying for has nothing worth living for…” Pondering.
A truly profound thought by Henri Nouwen to ponder ........ Bucky
