    Getting exposure in high school when trying to make it to a college program can be tough. AAU basketball has been a route that has worked for some but yet not for others. Why is that? The answer to that questions is varies but one big thing to realize is that ALL AAU teams are not created equal!
    In this video I just want to prompt thought on the type of questions you should be asking yourself before committing to an AAU program. Though it's a great option it can also be a waste of time without being on the right team and asking yourself the right questions.
    Check this video out and tell me your thoughts

    Where have I been? just stumbled across this brother last night and been watching videos ever since. Great material on various subjects that matter. My son is 15 who play a little basketball but more baseball. Been playing Middle and High School basketball without practice year round.(SG) he decent but playing basketball to stretch out a good resume for baseball being that not much money is given.

      Thank you for checking out the content Reece! Super cool that you recognized that though I'm speaking from a basketball perspective, everything that I cover is applicable to any sport that a student athlete is participating in! Thank you for the comment . Super grateful. I plan to grow this channel a lot more so be sure to check back in with me on a weekly basis at the very least. - Big Brotha Bel

      Ha! we don't need fans we need more members of the team! Fans are on the sideline spectating. Every time you click on a video and watch some of the content from this channel you're not a fan you're a teammate. Thank you for taking the time of not only watching but leaving a comment! So I've been playing AAU since 4th grade (I'm in seventh now but I'm also playing with 8th graders and sometimes we play with highschoolers) i dont know if you know anything about girls basketball, but if you do, do you think North Bay Elite is a good option?

    • @GiraffeStudentAthlete
      @GiraffeStudentAthlete  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Girls basketball is no different. It's awesome that you're getting the opportunity to play against older , bigger and stronger competition. That's going to be something that will separate you from a lot of your peers when you get into high school. I'm not knowledgeable about North Bay Elite to give you advice if it's worth your time. You just have to do your research and look at their track record as it relates to the players that have played for them that have ultimately went to schools that you deem desirable but also you have to look at the type of competition that they play as well. ALL AAU OR SUMMER BALL IS NOT CREATED EQUAL! Thank you so much for checking out the channel. Considering subscribing if you haven't already done so. I have some things I've been working on that I don't want you to miss. Feel free to give me some video topics you feel will help you and your teammates out. - Big Brotha Bel

    So I’ve heard mixed reviews on aau, and I also never played aau before. Ive grown into basketball by mostly playing alone, but a few months ago I realized in order to get better I need to play for a team. I want to make my hs basketball varsity team this upcoming year and I’m looking to explode this off season and get really good. People tell me to join aau, but I also hear that it’s a waste of money unless you are already really good, and are simply looking for attention from college coaches and media. Personally right now, I feel as if in a team setting I’d be a role player, not someone who’s a terrible pick but not anywhere near the first pick or second option. Not necessarily because of skill but because of my lack of experience in a team setting.

      Sounds like you need to borrow a lawnmower in the summer time and a shovel in the winter and get work. Again, AAU is not the end all be all but it can help you if you're playing on the right team and playing against elite competition. - Big Brotha Bel
