വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക്‌ മുൻപ് എം. പി. നാരായണപിള്ള ബാലചന്ദ്രമേനോന്റെ ഒരു സിനിമയെപ്പറ്റി മാതൃഭൂമിയിൽ ഒരു റിവ്യൂ എഴുതി. വളരെ തരംതാണ ഒരുറിവ്യൂ ആയിരുന്നു അത്‌. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സിനിമകളെ ഒക്കെ quote ചെയ്തു തന്റെ അറിവിന്റെ ഗർവുമായി എഴുതിയ റിവ്യൂവിൽ മേനോന്റെ "ബോറൻ തലേക്കെട്ടെന്ന "പരാമർശം
വരെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു..
നാറാപിള്ള അന്ന് ബാലചന്ദ്രമേനോനെക്കാൾ പ്രസിദ്ധനായിരുന്നു. വലിയ സുഹൃത്വലയം ഒക്കെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
ഇതൊന്നും ഗൗനിക്കാതെ അതിനു മേനോൻ കൊടുത്ത മറുപടി ഞാൻ ഇന്നും ഓർക്കുന്നു." പിള്ളേച്ചാ --ഞങ്ങൾ സിനിമക്കാർ ജാടയുടെ പുറത്തു ജീവിക്കുന്നവരാണ് --- എന്ന് തുടങ്ങി നാറാപിള്ള യുടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സിനിമയിലുള്ള അറിവ് വെറും superficial ആണെന്നും തെളിയിച്ചു. ആ ചങ്കൂറ്റം ഇന്നും കാണിക്കുന്ന മേനോൻ ഒരു സിനിമ കൂടിയെങ്കിലും ചെയ്തു കാണുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
