its alot easier if you just remove the whole assc bracket with everything attached to it

Great video! Question, so you put silicone sealant (very lightly) on the block and the water pump then put the gasket in-between?
Do you have to use silicone sealant?
I didn't see mention of using teflon tape or thread sealant by the tech especially on the bolt that connects into the oil galleys (upper right) is this needed or not needed?

Ok my Durango there is no cap on the radiator. It is on the hose. What year is this 5.9? Mine are 2000 and 2001.

Need to this to my water pump, but the question is what caused it to leak in the 1st place?
Depends on mileage. Also depends on how dirty your cooling system is. My pump started to leak after 2k after a flush. Previous owner never flushed the cooling system. Most important part before doing the pump is a full flush and even reverse flush to get all the debris out of the system. This will prevent the seals from being damaged when you change the pump. Look up super flush and reverse flush.
Why use the sealant and gasket?
The gasket is required, the sealer is not a required element of the installation. What it does do is hold the gasket in place and make sure that any deformities in the pump housing of engine block are sealed securely. In the case of a RTV sealer less is best. A thin film is all that is required.
is this different for a 2002 durango? the thermostat is on the bottom of mine, and it looks like it is on the top in this video.
What does it cost to have this done at a shop?

The ALLDATA Flat Rate Guide lists 1.8 hours to replace the pump, plus 0.4 for vehicles equipped with with power steering and 0.4 for A/C. Rates; dollars per hour, will vary by shop.
