just discovered Michael Hurley. been listening to his tunes for hours now on Utube. love the stories and seeing the videos. heard the music at the end of Deadwood the movie and played Hog of the Forsaken back 5 times. Googled it and found a diamond of a man and a picker. Wow!!! One of my favorites now!
Ya know, the first time I read your comment, I thought: "that's odd...rather hyperbolic! Best song she/he ever heard?" After a month of almost constant listening....I heartily concur. My apologies.
Nice to see snock get recognition for a long road from bucks county to Europe,Ireland,Scotland, Australia, congrats Michael miss seeing you in Oregon, had to get outta that drastic changed city...long live real folk n folk music....

Na, Harry's long gone. The photo could be PA, could be Vermont or Oregon, too. Michael has the original, I think. Lewi Longmire said the only time he ever saw Michael cry was at Harry's wake. He said they burned money for Harry to use on the other side.
Mark Dougherty thanks for sharing these stories. it’s really interesting to hear about the type of folks Michael chose to spend time with. You must all be pretty fun.

Which version of hog?
I first heard him on WHFS in Bethesda Maryland around 1981 Robing banks and bought the LP Ohhhh Sweet Lucy!❤
This is the best song I ever heard. I knew it the first time I heard it
wow! that you can narrow down all of the best songs you ever heard to one, single song!
@@jenniferbeetz7335 don’t know if you’re being condescending, but yeah sometimes you just know when a piece of art is especially moving to you.
@@halenjoe17 I wasn't being condescending at all- I was in a state of admiration
@Halen Joe this and "Rake" by Townes Van Zandt

Michael immortalizes Harry, who's actual name was Thorne Huber, in his song Sweet Lucy.
