    Thank you so much for the clear visual and written directions. I have started this project and love it so for. I am curious to know if I could to do a traditional scarf with this cast on? Obviously I would just keep knitting and probably need another skein but I’ve yet to make a scarf. Thanks again and please keep looming!

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Summer! A different cast on would have been better for a traditional scarf, but it won't be the end of the world. Once you have it finished, if you think the two ends look too different... you can add tassels to them (here you will see how I add tassels: th-cam.com/video/hO0RjeljBns/w-d-xo.html) or, if you are familiar to crocheting, you could work a chain where you have your cast on row...

    I am trying to make a loom knit cowl for a man, who drives a forklift 12 mph, i like the seed stitch and very much like the purl but am not understanding the knit first stitch, i like them because it has a closer gauge and less wind can pass thru, he need something to cover lower chin and neck, less wind. I am hoping you can give some tips because i am using a 41 peg loom. It would be ok if i can add buttons on the back to remove and replace, i would like help to accomplish this. I know you cannot give all of us tailored help, but men need help too. LOL im just the one who love this man

    I love the pattern - and your great tutorials - so if I wanted to make an infinity scarf what would you suggest doing to adapt this pattern? Make it a little narrower and longer? What about a thinner yarn? I am new at this so I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you.

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mmelic1 hi! (sorry for this late reply! Happy new year!) Yes, you could make it narrower by using less pegs (choose an even number of pegs for this project) and make it longer (120cm - 140cm long should be fine). Thinner yarn leaves more space between pegs, so the result is more loose and "holey".

    • @HeavenlyInspirations

      You can try using stitch markers. Put a marker everywhere you do a purl or a knit stitch. That way, you always know where you left off.

    Hi, I'm new to this, is the yarn equivalent to size US 5, 6 or 7 yarn? I don't want to get the wrong thickness. Thanks!

    Love your videos and this was not an exception! I've now made several Loom projects thanks to you! One thing I'm wondering is : is there a way to bind this off instead of using the needle? My seam is always visible in the headband projects I did through your channel. Is binding off only for an edge?

      Hi Rouhina! Maybe you could try this other method: th-cam.com/video/hO0RjeljBns/w-d-xo.html

    HELLO IM NEW TO ANY TYPE OF KNITTING, LOOMING ETC... COULD I USE THE PURL METHOD FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE COWL? ONCE I KAST OFF? I LIKE HOW THE PURLS LOOK, I GET CONFUSED AND FORGET WHERE I STOPPED WHEN I DO THE PURL, THEN KNIT, THEN PURL PATTERNS. I WANT TO MAKE MY OWN COWLS AND HAVE ALL MY SUPPLIES.

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dana Cason hi! Yes, you can work the whole cowl in purl stitches... just try to knit the first peg of each row (when starting a new row). If you purl that peg at the end of a row and then you knit it at the beginning of the next one this will avoid the edges to curl up...

    • @untameddana4733

      +Tuteate OMG! I wish I would have waited Til you responded to do my first cowl, that's exactly what happened lol! The top of the cowl curled and the bottom was too tight when I binded it. So I bought a straight loom and it work much better

    Is it possible to make the whole scarf with the basic stitch, by just wrapping it around and pulling over? I made a beanie like this but i'm not sure if it will work with the scarf too. Thanks!

      @Tuteate  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      actwin66 hi! Yes, you can work the whole scarf with the basic stitch too :) At the edges, wrap the last peg in one direction, knit it, wrap the peg in the opposite direction, knit it, and go to the next peg (in the same way we do it here: th-cam.com/video/5tSJMYzMdMsm/w-d-xo.html )

    I'd love to do a scarf in this stitch. The effect is really nice and the hat I did came out really well. How would I do this? x

      @Tuteate  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sam Young hi! You can follow the same directions given in this video and work it as long as you want. When you want to bind it off as a scarf, check this other video: th-cam.com/video/8xXkFoEbYKY/w-d-xo.html

    I don't know what I am doing wrong but I cannot getb this stitch to turn out right! I was going g to use this stitch to make a hat not sure if that matters and when I did it it just turned out looking like a smaller spread out version of a regular knit stitch. not sure what I am missing. wrap knit....purl...wrap knit purl right? idk. lol

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BeautyandBaby24 hi! Yes, you just need to cast on an even number of pegs and then start every row working 1 wrap knit - 1 purl, 1 wrap knit - 1 purl. You will see that you end each row with a purl, and then you start the next row with a knit...

    Is there a way that this project can be done on a 31 peg round loom? I don't have any other sizes and can't afford them right now.

    • @Tuteate

      Julia Kitzing hi! Sure, you can use a 31 peg loom for this project :) You will see we just use 22 pegs of the loom to work this cowl.

    Hey Tuteate, I have a quick question, there is a scarf I got for Christmas and it has a really cool looking knit pattern in it, I'm pretty sure it can be accomplished on the loom, if I send a picture of the scarf, is there a way you can make a tutorial for it?

      Chris Pilarski hi! You can work to the right or the the left of the loom, it will be the same, the way you prefer :)

    I have another question. If I want to make this a 'möbius' and have a twist- do I simply twist what I have made before seeing them together?? Thanks much! This tutorial has been so helpful. All your videos are. I'd love to make a capelet on my loom next.

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Heather Peatman hi! Thank you :) You could make a twist before sewing the ends together or simply make a longer "circle" or "cowl" and then twist it while you wear it (here you can see an example: blog.stitchfix.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/tumblr_mkdtc4CpxF1r7158co1_r1_12801.jpg )

      +Tuteate Thanks! It came out great!! I'm so happy. I can't stop wearing it!!
      I want to make another cowl, I've been looking at pictures online and I rather like this one: img0.etsystatic.com/048/0/9046682/il_570xN.661982182_opgp.jpg
      It seems that it is a bit wider and longer. I have a petite frame, so I'm wondering if I can just use all 21 pegs on the round loom to make it wider, make it a bit longer then add a twist to it? I also want to try the cabled look from your cabled mitt tutorial- I did one and it came out great (a little too long in the finger, I should have left more room to cast off. I'm not sure how to go back and shorten it) but I love it. I need to get more yarn to make a second now.
      Also, is there a way to "convert" crochet/knitting patterns to a loom? Is it almost the same??
      Sorry for the many questions. I love how simple your tutorials are and how gorgeous they've come out! I've been at this for less than a month and have already made two things I'm super proud of!

    This may be a silly question, but can you use the long oval looms instead of this round one? Maybe the pegs are too close to one another in compared to this one? Thanks for this lovely tutorial!

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      montrealstars60 hi! I think it should be the same (you could use the oval looms). If the pegs are closer one to another, then better use thinner yarn to work on them.

    • @montrealstars60
      @montrealstars60 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know that the pegs are closer, I was asking wondering if you knew. I will give it a try. Really love this stitch. Thanks for responding so quickly.

      Ally Uy hi! We normally use yarns for knitting needles of 6mm and above (I think that is size 5?). Hope this helps!
