You certainly did a fine job of showing the complexity of choosing. I was surprised that you made no reference to the engines. The Promaster engine has been refined over 11 years of production and 11 MILLION engines. The 62te transmission of the Promaster got a bad rap. Mine was slipping at 122 thousand miles but it's 2014. I suspect there have been improvements since then. MY PM has 140 thousand miles on it and runs like the well oiled machine that it is. I think you made the best choice. Enjoy it like we do ours.
I went with a 2021 Ford E350 cutaway van with a 14'5" box and it has a 84" interior height and 79" interior width. A 12,500 lb towing capacity. The 7.3 gas motor with a 5star tuning package is good for around 450hp and 470 pounds of torque. It's a great platform for a van conversion.
Your process sounds very familiar!!! 😅 We're leaning on the Transit, but looking at the AWD Ecoboost option. Haven't decided a hundred percent on it, so it's great to see other people's processes and choices. Would love to see more of your progress too!!! 🙋🏽♀️
Wow, so many factors to consider. You both really put a lot of thought into things. Can’t wait to see how your vehicle turns into your “home sweet home”.
Hopefully you find our video helpful. Different vans offer something for everyone. What van did you pick and why? Thanks for watching and subscribe for New Episodes coming! bit.ly/jrnyfwd
Not a bad choice but I'm a bit puzzled, the Transit all wheel drive is a very popular option and from my research seems to do better than the Promaster in challenging road conditions.
You're right! AWD and 4WD were some first considerations actually. But 2 things got in the way 1) Availability was limited when we were looking, there was chip shortage and short supply and 2) Price, all vehicles are pricier now and the Sprinter was out range of what we wanted to spend. Transits just not readily available and a little higher priced. But AWD is great choice.

The AWD was something we really wanted to look into. And 4WD Sprinter of course 😅. Just wasn't readily available when we bought.
Starfish sleeping is something I am familiar with I feel your pain…
Hahahaha 💫
Great info! Thanks! I'm a retired Soldier getting ready to start the van life...you just helped me pick a van!!
Awesome, James!! Glad we could help. Would love to hear about your van build updates 🚐

Really good video, but can you do me a favour and get your wife to button up? It’s hard to concentrate on the content of what your both saying.
Hahaha... umm no :)
