+Austin Kopp I believe it was James Morrison himself, as this arrangement is somewhat very similar to "all of me" recording from James's album "Snappy Too"
Was also the the set piece for every school band at Generations about 20 years ago. I don't feel so bad now hearing these guys miss some of the counting... :-D
Throughout high school I was the "trumpet stud", no one could approach me and I was the amazing trumpet guy. Then I attended a university big band show and the shear wall of sound simultaneously blew me away and humbled me! I had never encountered such a powerfully sweet set! I wanted to be one of them, I was inspired, but I didn't have the technical chops. So I practiced and practiced, and got the praise of the second chair jazz band instructor and that was it for me. All these guys are off the chain first chair talents, only waiting behind the rare talent that leads them. They are singular except for the one who is better than them.
I don’t get Morrison’s hand waving. These guys are pros, they don’t him to keep the time or help them with their entrances. It’s just a distraction. Basie didn’t do it. Why should he?
It's James' own arrangement. You don't deserve to criticize him. Basie wasn't do that, but today most big bands conductor these days wave for ensembles. Whether they're pro or not doesn't matter.
perfect work of a sound engineer
the two great leads aside,...wow,....tight band!
2:41 The best lick i've ever heard
Gansch is a surprisingly competent soloist, I have never heard him before in this kind of setting. This was quite good!
Check out more of his straight ahead stuff, he has a really unique voice
surprisingly competent wtf :')
@@GeorgeCollier yea I just know him as the Mnozil Brass guy, obviously a hell of a player…. Didn’t know he had any jazz chops at all though.
@@CurtisL8.3066 He solos in Mnozil though lol
Wonderful. Someone commented that Thomas Gansch is a competent player! What? He's brilliant. Ask James Morrison for his opinion.
Both Gansch and Morrison are super; and that band is just so dead-on tight! A wonderful performance!
Sehr gutes Arrangement. Ein Bravo an alle Musiker.

Excelent !! Very good arrangment, backgrounds and tuttis well done. The drumer as a clock with they. Congrats
2:22 Gansch quotes "Hot House"
mando What is ”Hot House”?
a song by charlie parker
I felt TG also has not his own jazz language. He can just play trumpet very well and easy.
"just"
Killer arrangement & playing!
Für meinen Geschmack unter den Top 3 der Besten der Welt👍🏻
Dizzy lick at 2:22. Most excellent.
It's the tune hot house
Brilliant charts and execution. I love these guys! Man!!!!
Who knew DJ Beats could play trumpet so well! Viva Kurupt!
Magnifique !!!!!!!!!!
Thomas and James are Both just brilliant !

Is that Bryan Davis playing trumpet? (Middle left).
I think yes.....;)
Guilty as charged. This was such a great festival to be a part of!
Приторно: в базовый сироп добавлено еще несколько стаканов сахарного песка. К.Бейси это могло бы не понравиться! 🤔
Wonderful!!!

Looks like you guys had a great time! 🎺
Maravilha!!!
Quel arrangement!
J'adore les pupitres de sax des big band et quel arrangement!
Que improviso top do Gansch
I play like the guy in the white suit but lower high range
If you play like this guy you need to sign a recording contract . Thomas Gansch is a virtuoso level talent.
Who wrote the arrangement?
+Austin Kopp I believe it was James Morrison himself, as this arrangement is somewhat very similar to "all of me" recording from James's album "Snappy Too"
it is the exact same one from that record
Was also the the set piece for every school band at Generations about 20 years ago. I don't feel so bad now hearing these guys miss some of the counting... :-D
calatria2949 I heard them perform it this year, it was awesome!
While Gansch might not possess the same range as some of the session monsters like Wayne Bergeron, he is most certainly on the same level as Marsalis
Nice to hear
Mazing playing
One of the finest bands
❤❤❤❤
Is Thomas flipping the bird through his solo?
Great!
This is a whole lot of fun.
Супер бенд
Ein Vergnügen.
Uu
OMG!
Тоже неплохо.

Is the sax section lined up weird
I thought it was bari, tenor, alto, alto, tenor. Not sure tho
Failed to swing someone said. As ex big band drummer, couldn't stop feet on base and h.hat.
the gay in grey between the trompetist and the bassist..?WTF
That's Marc Osterer - check him out - real cat
Nice but failed to swing.
I don’t get Morrison’s hand waving. These guys are pros, they don’t him to keep the time or help them with their entrances. It’s just a distraction. Basie didn’t do it. Why should he?
For show, I guess
plenty of band directors do this eg John Clayton
It's James' own arrangement. You don't deserve to criticize him. Basie wasn't do that, but today most big bands conductor these days wave for ensembles. Whether they're pro or not doesn't matter.
Um women?
