Super helpful video! I’m about to head over to Europe for 6weeks, half tour and other half solo) and want to try carry on only. How much does your bag typically weigh and does the 7kg limit AUS include your personal bag? Would love if you have any ideas 🙏🏻 Great video thanks 😊
Hey girl! Sorry for the delay ❤️ So it’s usually 7-10kg carry on and then your personal bag which they won’t weigh (unless it really looks overly large- but I’ve never had my personal bag weighed or considered). My carry on wasn’t over 8kg, and I only had it weighed once with Ryan air in Europe. Australia is honestly pretty flexible, so getting it out of the country isn’t a problem at all. Aw thank you so much! So kind of you ☺️ I travelled throughout Europe with this set up and honestly I didn’t have any issues. I think because my setup is quite light, even though it’s spread between two bags. Always pack less and then you’re generally safe 😆
@@libbiby ok, so I shall give it a try the next time. My only "problem" which keeps me from packing less is my passion for photography. So, when I travel to beautiful places like Sicily in Italy with its beaches and awesome sunsets with amazing colors, I would love to take my best camera with me and also some lenses. Because photos are really a diffferent kind of quality compared to shots with a smartphone. But still, I guess, I could handle it and try it to reduce to the really essential. :)
Oh wow, that sounds amazing. Definitely bring your camera equipment! I think that’s more important than “packing light” or taking carry on only. The extra weight is definitely worth capturing such beauty when you travel!! 📸
I just pack one sweater and a lightweight one at that, either in merino or cashmere. It's going to be covered by my coat anyway. Plus it's Merino, not touching my skin therefore it takes a long time to smell bad that it requires washing or changing that often. This was my packing list for one month in Hokkaido, Japan in the middle of winter. Just an urban travel holiday staying in cities. 1 x Faux Leather Jacket 1 x Faux Fur Knee length coat, which was stored in a 14 litre Sea to Summit Event compression bag while it was packed. 1 x Light Cashmere Sweater 1 x Muji Down Vest Liner 2 x Icebreaker 260 Merino Thermal long sleeve top. For 95% of the time, this was all I needed as my mid layer under my coat. 2 x Merino Singlets/Vest 1 x Cotton Band T shirt, mostly to sleep in but also to layer over my long sleeve Thermals. 1 x Wool Twill Cargo Pants 1 x Jeans 1 x Track Pants 1 x Fleece Lined Leggings 1 x Thermal Leggings 3 x Pairs Merino Socks 5 x underwear 2 Bras. 1 x Insulated and Waterproof boots 1 x Palladium Platform Combat boots. 2 x Hats 1 x Wool Blanket Scarf 1 x Pair Gloves My toiletries and electronics are pretty much the same all year round. To be honest, I could have left the sweater, one of my boots, my jeans and one of my leggings home. I found I was rarely wearing them. Minus the items I was wearing (usually the heaviest and bulkiest pieces), it all fitted in a 40l Durston Kakwa Backpack, including my tote bag, altogether weighed under 7 kgs. All the hotels and Airbnb I stayed in had washing machines.
Yes so true! This is something I will make in the future ☺️. My best approach to dealing with this is to pack thermal clothing as they are thin and easy to layer ☺️
Great video, thank you. Am thinking of doing a carry on only for my next international trip. But lugging a backpack around does not seem exciting and am actually thinking of going for one with a stroller. Do you think that's good enough? BTW love the idea of packing cubes. I used them for the first time recently and absolutely loved them.
Yeah that’s perfect! Do whatever feels sustainable and good for you and your travels. My trip called for a backpack, but my next trip I’ll be taking a wheeled one. It really just depends. So yes, I think your idea is good enough 😊. How great are packing cubes! Life changing 😍
Thank you ☺️. Yes, try to find the foldable ones. They’re so handy! I’m thinking South Korea could be my next destination. It looks so interesting and full of culture. And sooooo many foods to try 🤤
Oh oops!! I must have accidentally cut that out in my editing and not realised 😹. It goes into my ‘main’ carry on bag. I just squish it in really close to my other packing cubes. It works well because it’s small and the packing cubes can fit against each other. Thanks for pointing that out 😁
Hey girly! Honestly any cheap ones available to you will be perfect! I got mine from Temu, and they are great. I’ve also seen you can get “compression packing cubes” which will be extra helpful if you really want to compress down your clothing ☺️
Hey hey! Unfortunately the foldable backpack is out of stock but it was originally purchased from H&M Australia. They usually rotate their stock and you might be able to find a similar one online :)
I am wondering how you packed liquids in different bags. They request to put all liquids into one plastic bag not more the 500 ml all together and if it is not packed like this they do not let you go through the security check. Where do you travel like this?
Hey ☺️ I didn’t have a problem when I went through security in Australia and throughout Europe. I think maybe because it wasn’t an excessive amount of liquids? Maybe if I had taken more then it would have been an issue. Ive travelled through Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia with this. I have heard that it might be different in the USA though. I haven’t been there with carry on so I’m not too sure!
I actually just came back from Europe with this exact back and flew Ryanair and they let it through 🙊. If you made sure not to overpack it too much, I think you’d have a good chance of squeezing it in. Let me know if you try!! ☺️
Hey lovely! I’ve linked as many products as I could in the description ☺️ but the two main bags are from IKEA! They are awesome bags. I’ve just completed several weeks travelling around Europe with them and they were perfect 😍
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the video! I’d say my main tips are to try and pack light clothing items that can be easily layered. That way you get the option to pack a few more pieces and if you are going between climates then you can layer your clothing to keep you warm. Also, if you have a rough idea of where you might be going (whilst you’re still at home) then you can plan quite effectively the types of clothing you’ll want to wear and bring. To keep things light, I’ll bring jackets that are light weight but offer a lot of warmth such as the raincoat I packed in the video. As it’s close to my body, it adds a lot of warmth without the bulk. As for things like extra shoes, or basics like toiletries, I purposely under pack because it’s so easy to stop at a convenience / grocery store in your destination country to stock up on toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, etc. Then I sometimes like to buy a pair of cheap shoes that I’ll use solely on my trip that can be thrown out during or before flying home. This is to prevent me from ruining good pairs that might not withstand my destination or if I know that destination will need something highly specific. Then as for other small tips- Reddit is a life saver! I like to google my destination and see what others have brought/packed/described about the place to help me understand my different locations. At the end of the day, most things can be bought, and/or sent back home if you’re really in a pinch. And my most important rule of thumb- if I haven’t worn the item at home in the last few weeks (weather dependent) then it’s likely I won’t wear it whilst I’m overseas. So bring the items you love, to ensure you’ll actually use and enjoy using them! Lastly, for long term travel, pack clothing that will get you through about 1 week. If you’ve got one week covered, then you’ve got 4,5,6 weeks covered. Get to a washing machine and you’ve got fresh clothes! Oh and actually lastly (haha), I pack multi use charges and tech equipment. Try to limit cables and tech stuff and possibly look at purchasing multi connection devices so you’re carry 2-3 electronic things, rather than 4-6 (ie cables). I hope that helps!! I have a video coming soon on more travel tips and hacks ☺️☺️
@@libbiby Thanks, you have some great useful, practical tips and advise 😀 Defo useful information to have as i've booked a multiple destination european trip this month. you have experience of staying in hostels too?
Oh how exciting!! I have stayed in hostels before, but that’s when I did the traditional “backpacking” around Asia/Europe early 20s travel haha. I don’t stay in hostels anymore. But when I did, I always checked the reviews across multiple sites, ensured I checked for bed bugs, stayed in smaller rooms (2-4 people rather than 6+), and always read reviews about bathrooms (as they tend to be the icky factor with hostels). But, they are great places to meet others! Good luck on your travels 🙏🏼
@@libbiby definitely will need the good luck with this new adventure. I do prefer hotels, but trying something different. is there a way to contact you directly for further tips and advise?

Hey lovely! I got the packing cubes from Temu (but eBay, Amazon, aliexpress, Kmart or any local luggage store will have them in stock!). The foldable backpack I got from H&M. Sadly they don’t have that one in stock anymore but they do have a couple other semi similar ones under “men’s accessories” on their website. I hope that helps a little!
Good tips thanks 😊 one thing I will say though is it’s easy to pack just in a carry on when the majority of what you’re wearing are shorts and tank tops
Yes 100% agree! It is very easy to pack for summer weather. I’ll do another video in the future when packing for “winter” / cooler weather. It’s definitely still doable 😉😊
Really nice video very helpful. Just a few questions, what company is the foldable backpack from I don't see a link? And another question, what is the bag you used to put your passport in, I don't see a link to it? If you can provide a link for these that would be great. And again really great video, I'm going on a trip to Europe for about 3 weeks and might consider taking this bag. Also I love shopping at ikea.
Hey lovely! Thank you for your lovely comment 🥰. Unfortunately I don’t think the foldable backpack is still in stock - it was originally from H&M and it was called “Water Repellent Backpack”. I’ve linked a similar one in the description for you to check out. It’s not exactly the same, but similar ☺️. Also, the small green passport pouch was actually given to me on a Qantas flight, I don’t think those ones can be purchased. But any small structured pouch or passport holder will do the trick for your passport! I hope that helps a tiny bit. Have an amazing time on your trip to Europe! Safe travels 😍🌞
Hey! So I do always make sure to keep my gym clothes in one packing cube so they stay together. But I always air out or rinse my gym clothes after working out so they are super dry (and not smelly haha) when I’m ready to pack them up again. This works pretty well and seems to control the amount of sweat being absorbed 😊
Hey lovely! It really depends on my destination. Places like Europe, then I will do a bit of shopping because I will have access to so much more than in my home country. In those instances I really try to pack very light/under pack slightly so I have room to buy and add things. My little hack is to bring a tote bag which I had in the video. Tote bags are amazing because they can be almost 45L of volume, and are really inconspicuous when packed. The fit under an airline seat and no one seems to question them as they just look like a normal “carry bag”. So you could always takes a foldable tote bag in your main bag in case you do want to buy stuff in your travels 😇
I’ve actually never ever had to open my toiletries bags! As long as the liquids stay under 100ml then you’re good to go. I’ve flown small European airlines and I’ve never had problems with having a “main” toiletries bag (like my pink one) and then a smaller little makeup bag 😊
Wait…how do you take so many liquids? I have gotten scolded by TSA. I don’t even bring shampoo/conditioner, makeup is minimal. The 311 rule ruins me. I live in the US, is this totally different in other countries?
Hey lovely! Oh wow, that’s very interesting. I’ve never had an issue before! Maybe it is more strict in the USA? I’ve flown a lot- Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and as long as my liquids are under 100ml per bottle and fairly compact (usually 1 bag), and then a smaller makeup bag I seem to be okay. This could definitely be a USA thing! 🤔
At least YAY for international travel!! ☺️ Really good to know about the US though. Thanks for taking the time to comment and ask. Very helpful to know!
Oh I totally see how that could be an issue!! At the moment I’m very light on tech equipment. But I’ll have to do an updated video for sure when my equipment grows and I add a better quality camera 😹
Yeah totally! Could be a tad big. Although I did just complete my Europe trip and managed to successfully take my bag on Ryan air! They didn’t check the size, only the weight. Could have just been very good luck and a nice airport lady that day haha. But if you’re strategic and don’t overpack this particular bag, it’s very squishable and couldddd work! 🙊
Thanks 😊….. what’s the total weight? Because now, even if you have a small backpack if you are over 17 lbs/ 7or8 kg (i think 🤔) you will have to pay extra money 🤨😔
Yes, you’re right ;). My main bag is around 7-8kg. My smaller bag is a a few kgs because of my laptop, but I hide that one behind me if I’m near the airline staff so they don’t see it haha. I also sometimes take a smaller bag just to fit my laptop so it looks like a “personal bag” and they don’t weigh personal bags (in my experience) 😁
Many budget airlines only let yoi have 7 or 10 kg altogether or just 1 bag. How does that work for summer/winter. Does a hip strap really help with weight of pack please?
Hey lovely! @lbunnygordon113 I found the waist strap on my old bag only useful when I was walking for long period of time from destination to destination. I would say at that time I was doing more traditional “backpacking travel”. Now, I do less budget/backpacking travel so find that I can get away without having the waist strap. It’s really a personal preference! The waist strap just helps support a heavier backpack as the hips carry the load as opposed to your shoulders. If I were you I would consider the type of travel you want to do, and then go and try out a few backpacks in store :). If you are taking a heavy backpack, then likely having waist straps is the way to go! ❤️
Hahah love it. I swear men can get away with a tiny little bag every single time! Less clothes, less toiletries, less everything 😅. Thank you for taking the time to comment ☺️
@@libbiby No make up tools, no perfume, we would need one shampoo 🧴 for everything 😇. Men are simple and somewhat minimalist. Give me tips to earn while on the go for international trips.. I mean should I do robbing,loot..How about spending time in jails of different countries. Enjoying Jail hospitality of different countries ..I am actually good for nothing. Suggest something.
So that’s two carry on bags then? The second bag is in no way a handbag and it really cheeses me off when passengers turn up at the departure gate with two bags of this size. It is taking up two carry on slots…
Yes, so technically a carry on and a personal bag :). Granted this tote bag is a big chunky and I often don’t end up using that on the plane, and instead just open for the smaller foldable backpack that is super condensed and doesn’t take up much space. Mostly for my laptop! I often just fold the tote bag and add it into my bigger backpack in case I do happen to need an extra bag. But it does fit under the seat so it’s usually okay! Totally understand how it could be frustrating though. Thank you for watching anyway and sharing your thoughts ☺️
Ahh! I promise I did 😂 this was my first “packing” video and I forgot to film a few smaller items, like my electronics haha. But I pack using multi use plugs, I’ll bring a global charging plug, a power bank that is strong enough to charge my laptop but still allowed on the plane (planes have voltage restrictions), and I love bringing my magnetic apple charging cable because I can charge my AirPods and iPhone easily without needing to worry about the usbc outlet. Thank you for pointing out I missed my cables! I hope this helps a bit though ☺️
So this is for 3-4 weeks! I usually pack with the mindset of packing for around 1 week (with a few extra tops 😅). That usually covers me for multiple weeks because it’s hard to wear more than one weeks worth of clothes in reality 😊
I personally had success with flying Ryanair just a few weeks ago with this bag. I packed the “tote” bag into this bigger backpack and just used my smaller hand bag to carry my laptop as to not draw attention. They did weight my bag, but it was under the weight limit. They didn’t check the dimensions!
Yes good point! Japan is high on my bucket list. I was considering taking carry-on on the flight over with another smaller soft bag inside so I can buy stuff and then check one or two of the bags in if needed on the way out (as long as I’m heading straight back home) 😁😁
@@libbiby you need to go! You can fill a checked bag pretty quickly depending on what you buy. Some people just buy a checked bag there to not pay the bag on the way there I've never been to Europe but I'll make it out there eventually 🤙🏼 I want to return to Japan again next year I enjoyed it that much
Ohhh I bet there are just so many amazing things to see and do there (and buy 😅)!! I can’t wait, it’s a place I’d love to get to within the next year. Europe is cool, but soooo different to Asia. I honestly love SEA so much, I have no doubt I’d fall in love with Japan. I like your idea of buying a checked bag over there, something I will likely do when I go 😍
Usually no more than about 8-9kg. I try keep my main carry on at around 7-8kg and then my little backpack/smaller bag at around 1-2kg. This is usually a good way to do it and avoid the bags being weighed 😊
Haha they do fit me like a normal shirt though 😁. But it helps if they are thinner so you have space to squish and pack with flexibility! Thanks for watching ☺️
I wish I lived where you live where you can be so willy nilly with the liquids. That wouldn't fly here. You're allowed one 1L clear plastic zip close bag for all liquids, gels, and aresols. The airport security provides the bag. Nothing that isn't a liquid, gel or aeresol is allowed in it so the makeup brushes need to find a new home. It needs to be removed and placed separately in a screeing tray and they will examine it and ruin your day if you don't stick to all of the rules. It'd be a dream to be allowed to use an actual toiletry bag instead of a security sandwich bag haha. One day we will catch up with the rest of the world.
Haha love this comment 😂 luckily it was summer on my travels so I could get away with thin and light materials! I’ll do another video in the future about heavier weight clothing ;). Thanks for watching!! 🥰
Haha well this is for about 1 month of travelling! Honestly it’s been a perfect amount with my bag only weighing around 8kg. I took out a few shirts tbh lol, only ended up with about 5. I purposely took an old pair of Nike walking sneakers so I could throw them out as I knew I’d only need them for a portion of the trip. But apart from that, it has been a perfect amount of items! 😉😁

Do you have a video for autumn or winter travel? Sweaters take up huge space
1 x Faux Leather Jacket
1 x Faux Fur Knee length coat, which was stored in a 14 litre Sea to Summit Event compression bag while it was packed.
1 x Light Cashmere Sweater
1 x Muji Down Vest Liner
2 x Icebreaker 260 Merino Thermal long sleeve top. For 95% of the time, this was all I needed as my mid layer under my coat.
2 x Merino Singlets/Vest
1 x Cotton Band T shirt, mostly to sleep in but also to layer over my long sleeve Thermals.
1 x Wool Twill Cargo Pants
1 x Jeans
1 x Track Pants
1 x Fleece Lined Leggings
1 x Thermal Leggings
3 x Pairs Merino Socks
5 x underwear
2 Bras.
1 x Insulated and Waterproof boots
1 x Palladium Platform Combat boots.
2 x Hats
1 x Wool Blanket Scarf
1 x Pair Gloves
My toiletries and electronics are pretty much the same all year round.
@@isleeptillnoon5256 Thanks for sharing! I'm surprised you managed to fit both coat and a jacket
@@libbiby That's a good tip!
@isleeptillnoon5256 thank you for such an awesome detailed response!! 🤩🥰
Life changing 😍
thanks for the video! I'm planning to travel soon with a carry on only. I like your editing🌱
Oh yay! I’m excited for you to experience it for yourself 😍. And thank you for your lovely comment 🥰
Great tips! I need to get one of those small packable backpacks.
Where's your next destination?
Thank you ☺️. Yes, try to find the foldable ones. They’re so handy! I’m thinking South Korea could be my next destination.
It looks so interesting and full of culture. And sooooo many foods to try 🤤
Oh that Pink *yutulu* bag
🥰🥰🥰
Hi Libby, great video! Thank you :)
Where did you get your microfibre towel from? Xx
Hey Georgi!! The towel is from a brand called ‘AQUIS’ ☺️xx
Where did you put your smallest cube with gym wear? It's not in your backpack and tote.
Oh oops!! I must have accidentally cut that out in my editing and not realised 😹. It goes into my ‘main’ carry on bag. I just squish it in really close to my other packing cubes. It works well because it’s small and the packing cubes can fit against each other. Thanks for pointing that out 😁
i love you so much! I recently just found your bbkbags and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
You’re so sweet 🥹 thank you for your kind words!! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos. More to come!! 🥰❤️
Loved this video! You fit everything you need ❤
Thank you for watching!! ☺️ yes, it’s so easy to pack carry on. I love it 😍
Loved the tips, what packing cubes do you recommend?
Hey girly! Honestly any cheap ones available to you will be perfect! I got mine from Temu, and they are great. I’ve also seen you can get “compression packing cubes” which will be extra helpful if you really want to compress down your clothing ☺️
TIP get individual shoe bags as its easier to pack each shoe in diff slots in the bag
Oo love this idea! A game of Tetris with the shoes always 😅. Thank you for taking the time to comment 🥰
Can u share the link for the shoulder bag which is converted into backpack.
@@libbiby in Germany it would never work

Hi, there! Could you share the brand of the towel? Thank you in advance!
Hi lovely! The brand is ‘Aquis’. It’s actually a hair towel, but I’ve found it to be incredibly useful in other scenarios if I need a towel 😊
@@libbiby Yes! Looks great, thanks for sharing and taking the time to reply. Cheers!

Hi, where did you purchase that bag? It’s so functional!
Hey lovely! I’ve linked as many products as I could in the description ☺️ but the two main bags are from IKEA! They are awesome bags. I’ve just completed several weeks travelling around Europe with them and they were perfect 😍
Next up, do a winter edition. ;)
Yes exactly!! I am going to do one 🥰
love the video and tips. do you have any tips for multi country destination to travel to with just a carry on?

Aw thank you!! Yes, totally. They didn’t pull me up for the make up and hair oil when I went to Europe, so fingers crossed it works for others 🙊
So sad I can’t find the carry bag from ikea! The link is not exactly the same one from the video! I really want to find the one from the video (if you could help me thks). Loved the video and editing ❤️❤️

Aw thank you Helen!! 🥰
Where did you get the packing cubes and foldable backpack?
Can you do a video on hair care and growing your hair long pls? your hair is beautiful!
Thank you so much lovely 🥰 yes absolutely! That video is on my list and will be something I get to in the very near future ❤️
Thank you so much for replying. I just really liked how the pouch looked so I wanted to ask. 😊
You’re welcome ☺️
How do u manage/segregate the gym clothes after use since they have absorbed all the sweat from exercising?
@@libbiby thank you Libby!
Do you usually shopping during your travel when you pack light as shown on the video? 😊
So you could always takes a foldable tote bag in your main bag in case you do want to buy stuff in your travels 😇
what about jewelry?
Do you then have to open several bags to put all of your liquids together going through the airport?
@@libbiby Wow..I feel so duped by US travel 🥲 This is great news for international travel though!! 💗

You dont take a camera? That's where I struggle because its so bulky!

No not yet! :). I’ve linked them in the description, you should still be able to get them or something very very similar ☺️
This ikea backpack is nice, but unfortunately with its 33x17x55 cm size its out of the carry on league (at least at wizz and ryanair).
Hi, we have travel backpack and would like to seek your review.
Oh how great! Feel free to share more 😊
Thanks 😊….. what’s the total weight?
Although i’m a man and probably carry like 2-3 pair of clothes 😂, but this video still very helpful.
Hahah love it. I swear men can get away with a tiny little bag every single time! Less clothes, less toiletries, less everything 😅. Thank you for taking the time to comment ☺️

That tote bag isn't full and can be pushed under a seat.
@@electrictwilightyes exactly 😎 it’s so easy to squish and make smaller, that’s why I love it!

You didn’t pack any chargers !
What is the portrayal of Indian history in your educational resources, particularly regarding Mughal invasions and British colonization?
how many days/months is this bag for?
So this is for 3-4 weeks! I usually pack with the mindset of packing for around 1 week (with a few extra tops 😅). That usually covers me for multiple weeks because it’s hard to wear more than one weeks worth of clothes in reality 😊
Is this too big for ryanair?
I personally had success with flying Ryanair just a few weeks ago with this bag. I packed the “tote” bag into this bigger backpack and just used my smaller hand bag to carry my laptop as to not draw attention. They did weight my bag, but it was under the weight limit. They didn’t check the dimensions!
You should take a look a solid cosmetic options like shampoo/conditioner/body oil bar.
Oh that’s a great idea! I will check those out 🥰. Thank you!!
I would not travel carry on only in Japan. Absolutely so much stuff to buy at a very affordable price
Some people just buy a checked bag there to not pay the bag on the way there

Ohhh I bet there are just so many amazing things to see and do there (and buy 😅)!! I can’t wait, it’s a place I’d love to get to within the next year.

this only works for summer, imagine taking boots or thick jeans with you
Yes a lot harder for winter!! Luckily I love to travel to mostly warm places 😹😁❤️
How many kgs in total?
Usually no more than about 8-9kg. I try keep my main carry on at around 7-8kg and then my little backpack/smaller bag at around 1-2kg. This is usually a good way to do it and avoid the bags being weighed 😊
Well yeah, of course they fit easily in a packing cube - those half shirts you packed are only marginally longer than a sports bra!
Oh wow! That’s very interesting, I didn’t realise it was so strict in some places. Hopefully it doesn’t stay like that forever haha 😅
Nicely done, however upon seeing the selection of little bitty shirts & shorts - unfortunately won’t work for this old woman 😆
