When great acting and great writing was the norm this movie was very popular when I was a boy. But after a decade or so it kind of faded away. Not enough action or explosions for most folks I guess. I'm so glad to see you appreciated and enjoyed it. As always GOD BLESS ALL HERE!!!!!

This could be in the top ten Westerns for me. The characters and storylines should always be the most important elements for a good film. Shoot-out scenes are always nice support in these Westerns.

Gregory Peck is ALWAYS rewarding to watch. What a great star.

You’re right, this one flies under the radar. My suggestions, as you’ve seen also with Cowboy, often do, as time seems to pre maturely bury some gems that for whatever reason fell by the wayside, & rightfully deserve some exposure. So satisfying for you to be providing such a rarely offered platform for such, Irish Guy‼️👌

So glad I came across this one. Such a good film. I need to find more of Gregory Peck's Westerns. Thanks for the kind comment.

    "Somebody after you?"
    "Three somebodies."
    "The law?"
    "Naw, this is personal."
"I don't want 'em to catch up with you here."
"I don't want 'em to catch up with me anywhere."
Fun Fact: This film has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 15 critic reviews.
Movie Magic Fact: Cinematographer Charles G. Clarke shot the title backgrounds using Gregory Peck's double.
Music Enthusiast Fact: Bob Dylan's Brownsville Girl (1986) song, co-written with Sam Shepard, alludes to watching Gregory Peck in this film. Peck himself thanked Dylan publicly when he delivered the speech when Dylan was given his Kennedy Center award in 1997.
Historical Fact: Based on the life and exploits of an actual western gunslinger named John Ringo, a distant cousin of the outlaw Younger family. The real Ringo was a ruthless murderer and survivor of the vengeance ride engaged in by Wyatt Earp and "Doc" Holliday after the ambushes of Wyatt's brothers, Morgan and Virgil, following the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Also unlike the movie's account, the actual John Ringo--his real name--suffered a severe bout of melancholy following a visit to his family in California in July of 1882 and went on a monumental ten-day alcoholic binge, which climaxed when he sat down under an oak tree, drew his gun and used it to commit suicide.

The Gunfighter was Gregory Peck's third Western, following Duel in the Sun (1946) and Yellow Sky -- both very strong films. Two other classic Gregory Peck films from way back are The Guns of Navarone (1961) and Cape Fear (1962).

Great choice Irish Guy, Gregory Peck was excellent. Millard Mitchell, the sheriff, was in "Winchester '73" as Jimmy Stewarts friend.

The bartender is the great Karl Malden. One of my favorite films of his, co-starring Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint, is On the Waterfront about mob influence in the longshoremen's union. I stop and watch it whenever I come across it.

Ringo is sort of a legendary character. As far as I know the one fairly historical Ringo is in the movie Tombstone.

Michael Biehn was brilliant in that role.

Actually John Ringo is a leading example of a western myth. See "John Ringo: The Gunfighter Who Never Was" by Jack Burrows.

Another off the beaten path Western, not the shoot ‘em up kind, Gary Cooper in Gentle Persuasion, Oscar Nominee for Best Picture/Writing/Directing/Supporting Actor (Anthony Perkins, who played Norman Bates in Hitchcock’s Psycho).

Great movie and great reaction. If your looking to grow your channel one thing I would suggest is to try doing some shorts. I have a small channel and normally get a few hundred views per video but when I upload a short I will get between 2k and 7k view and usually pickup 4-10 subs per short. youtube is really promoting shorts and usually within 15min of posting a short clip I will have 2k views on it. With all the work you put into this channel you deserve to have more subscribers. Good Luck.
