Welcome to my country! This bald guy used to service my ex Husqvarna many years ago, he had his private serviceshop for huskys, I see he is employee of Akrapovic now. Great guy! So are you Lyndon, keep up posting interesting video material.
Thanks Lyndon! What an impressive facility. This helps explain the cost of Akrapovic products. You get what you pay for. For me it also helps hearing/seeing this from a qualified person like you.
Great video, Lyndon! Watched yesterday and shared it and thought about it since. It's great to see a company that's led by someone with passion and vision. The insistence on actually doing something, owning the design and the process, is refreshing. Too many "leaders" in business want to buy crap from China, slap a label on it, and rely on "marketing", aka lies, to simulate value. The recycling of titanium into investment castings is the sort of thinking that makes companies great, but gets dismissed by financial-only thinkers who fail to see value in a things that carry risk and can't be leveraged by Sales into luring buyers into paying a higher price.
Great informative video Lyndon. In my book Akra are the best exhaust now. Back in my days I used Devil exhaust system if anyone remember them! They are still being manufactured 0:)) Cheers
Having owned a '05 950 Adventure since new, I would have loved to ride the Rally 950. Lucky you. Even though I have a 1190R, the 9 50 is a bike I would never sell, it is very special.
The information provided was short and interesting, been looking into akrapovic pipe for my yamaha XT660 and this convinced me to spend the money and order one. Cheers for another good video mate. All the best to both teams.
Outstanding job Lyndon! I did not realize so much technology went into an exhaust. Like you, I've fabricated several of my own parts over the years, so I found this video absolutely fascinating. Well done!
Astonishing that someone from Slovenia can enter the car market in 2009 where super rich Austrian and German companies have been dominating since the begging of time and yet make a better product.
Been to slovenia a couple of times, great country. Beautiful mountains, rivers and forests, and the people are nice. Totally forgot akra was based in slovenia
Thanks for sharing this. I understand better why they are so expensive. But quality has his price! And someone says in german: ´wer zweimal kauft, kauft öfters’ 😉
" First v-twin, twin cylinder big bike to win the dakar and I believe the only one " The NXR750 rolls in it's grave hearing you say things like that. Get your history straight Lyndon !!
Fantastic tour, especially because to talk about stuff is a proper engineer (and awesome guy) instead of the usual bumbling journalist that has no idea of what he/she is talking about.
Very interesting, I had no idea that this level of manufacturing went into commercially available exhausts. I would be interested to see how this compares to other brands in the same price range like Austin Racing... I have a feeling the economy of scale allows Akra to make a much better product.
I remember when BMW owned Husky, a BMW engineer said they liked v-twins. They had a V motor concept, but then sold Husky. They continue with 180 degree V-twin.
I've had a very bad experience with them on the KTM 690 SMC-R with two slip-ons broken in less than 20,000km.. First the rivets start to come loose, the $100 carbon cap flies off and finally the whole end comes out and can throw the whole thing in the bin.
@@lyndonposkitt That was my thought but confirmed authentic by one KTM garage and another exhaust dealer (both slip-ons). It might be the heat here in Thailand combined possibly with a too lean tune on the bike.
Not to split hairs here but Honda won the Dakar on an NXR V twin and so did Cagiva with their Elefants before KTM...now you could say that the Cagiva was an 'L' twin but its still a V...and the 650 Africa Twin was a V...52 degree V twin I seem to recall. It was for sure a V configuration...I owned both 650 and 750 versions...also owned a 750 Elefant,a 900 elefant and the Lucky Strike injected 900. One thing is for sure is that Honda and Cagiva won Dakar races befoer any V Twin of KTM...they did not have a V twin engine in the Dakar for maybe ten years or so after Honda...unless someone can correct me here of course....BMW and Yamaha were also winning on twin (not V) engines before KTM.
@@lyndonposkitt I wish Akra all the best, but expensive premium aftermarket options tend to be fitted to new vehicles. Current EV trend is really picking up. Governments are actively funding change. Akra needs to change to survive, (as well as the whole automotive industry) but it's hard to think of a suited new product line. Maybe fake Tesla exhaust with boom boxes?
Not gonna happen fast. I imagine Mr Akropovic already sleeps in a very comfortable bed and isn't sweating it too much. I just bought a gas powered new car. I really wanted to buy an EV but the math doesn't stack up yet. Also range anxiety was an issue for me.
He's rich beyond belief now. But if they are still one of only two or three places in the whole world with a Titanium foundry they can easily pivot to making other Titanium parts, that is always in demand for luxury level cars to reduce weight.

🤩 WOW 🤩 As a person with a full Akrapovic fitted to my R1200 GSA and 500 EXC that was so awesome for me to see. I enjoyed every minute of it 👍🏾
Impressive company and capabilities. 💪👍 Thanks for taking us along!
Nice Akra evo for the bmw S1000RR in your thumbnail! Awesome vid man!
Thanks Lyndon! What an impressive facility. This helps explain the cost of Akrapovic products. You get what you pay for. For me it also helps hearing/seeing this from a qualified person like you.
Loved learning about the funder's history and passion for racing - nothing like life experience to truly make your work quality!
Fantastic video, must have been brilliant to have the opportunity to see inside this amazing facility. Great video, thank you.
Thank you Lyndon! Great video!!
Really interesting!!...thanks for sharing an example of what happens inside of a production in one component of the motorcycle!
Very well presented. Living the dream.
Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it. I have a KTM 690 and wasn't going to get an Akropovic silencer for it, but now I really want one!
I routinely check in with your channel to get guidance on what to buy for my ktm. Your knowledge and experience is key!
Fantastic video. Very informative!!!
What I always loved about bikes was the space aged materials used just so we can go faster harder

Very informative video and you could tell you were in your element! Once again well done Lyndon!
Wow, just being able to put a hand on the throttle of that Meoni 950 would be awesome. What a legendary beast. Great that they let you ride it!
WOW!, great video. Thanks for sharing.✊️👊✊️👊
Fabulous Tour loved it!👍
Great vid.....more of this please !

Learned something new about Lyndon! He is an aerospace engineer!
Worked at bae systems

Interesting,thank you.
That was awesome Lyndon 👍👍
That was awesome. Thank you.
Cool......Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for showing us. As a mech eng student, this was very interesting to see. Slovenia is a great country!
Great video... I will definitely get this exhaust next
Outstanding job Lyndon! I did not realize so much technology went into an exhaust. Like you, I've fabricated several of my own parts over the years, so I found this video absolutely fascinating. Well done!
Nice exhaust
I really enjoy your vids! these informative ones i really appreciate! Thank you
AWESOME VID! great to see the processes that go into making these exhaust systems....👍Now i understand why they cost so much to buy👍😉🏍
Astonishing that someone from Slovenia can enter the car market in 2009 where super rich Austrian and German companies have been dominating since the begging of time and yet make a better product.
you have great job an make great video
fantastic info !!
You and Basil bike made it to Slovenia from Namibia pretty damned fast! 😜
Thanks, great insight into one of my favourite brands
very interesting topic, really enjoyed it Lyndon
Been to slovenia a couple of times, great country. Beautiful mountains, rivers and forests, and the people are nice. Totally forgot akra was based in slovenia
So how did Basil do on the Dyno?
Thanks for sharing this. I understand better why they are so expensive. But quality has his price!

Great video!!
And that’s why a brand name system costs so much more than a Chinese knock-off!
Thanks. That was very interesting.
Hey, that A-Class is the car of Sidney Industries. A german tuning company. Nice to see!
mate this is amazing.
12:37 i think thats the Exhaust from the Koenigsegg Regera
I sat on the Meoni bike at a bike show in Germany about 15 years ago.
That was awesome mate!
17 years.....i thought you were in your late 20's early 30's right on man!!!
Excellent! Keep moving, we won't age ;)
Well done for saying titanium properly 👍
Hey Lyndon, Why no Dakar this year?
How much power did Basil make on the dyno?
Well Lyndon, was Basil a bit quieter? Great vid.
Fantastic tour, especially because to talk about stuff is a proper engineer (and awesome guy) instead of the usual bumbling journalist that has no idea of what he/she is talking about.

Fantastic Ep. Love akro but still a bit pricey In Aus. Paying for quality and they do have the best sound.
Maybe you can do a segment, how do they do it with lyndon poskit :)
WOWWW SUPER INTÉRESSANT 👍👍👍👍
You looked like extasis the hole day dude, nice vid
Well Mr Celebrity, nice job & you sure didn't hurt their sales any did you?
well, if I would know that you'r in Ljubljana I would come to ask you for autograph ;)
I remember when BMW owned Husky, a BMW engineer said they liked v-twins. They had a V motor concept, but then sold Husky. They continue with 180 degree V-twin.
Colin won the first world championship for Akrapovic in 2000 on his SP1. The bike in the video is the SP2 on which he regained the title in 2002.
Next bike , Lyndon poskitt Dakar 2018 maple Moto 2nd
I'm really surprised that they have their own material testing lab and a foundry

Probably a Chinese copy, my LC4 bike has over 200,000km with Akrapovic and never had an issue.
@@lyndonposkitt That was my thought but confirmed authentic by one KTM garage and another exhaust dealer (both slip-ons). It might be the heat here in Thailand combined possibly with a too lean tune on the bike.
But this year title winning bike of Marquez has the exhaust from SC Project
I thought it was pronounced ak-ro-pov-ich not a-crap-a vik?
A-kra-po-vitch. The rest is just a western imitation.
"The first V Twin twin cylinder big bike to win the Dakar" was NOT a KTM of course. What about the 1986 Honda NXR 780 with four Paris-Dakar wins?
Not to split hairs here but Honda won the Dakar on an NXR V twin and so did Cagiva with their Elefants before KTM...now you could say that the Cagiva was an 'L' twin but its still a V...and the 650 Africa Twin was a V...52 degree V twin I seem to recall. It was for sure a V configuration...I owned both 650 and 750 versions...also owned a 750 Elefant,a 900 elefant and the Lucky Strike injected 900.

It's a bit sad really. Electric drives are on the move. In ten years time Akra will be out of business.

A-crap-ovic? Sounds a little negative......Thought it was pronounced Akra-povic?
