This brings back so many good memories, 140 Breaks/Jungle aka Future Jungle. Schoco, D-Audi - Sent for you (love that song), Mshcode, Boomsha, Otter, Rolling Paper, Bay B Kane, Lucas, Galvatron, Aitch, to name but a few and of course the man himself Graish.
Oh man, all of the producers you named are amazing. Most of them released on Boomsha and Top Drawer Digital. D-Audi - No Man Stands Alone is still a go-to for me. What a killer producer he is. And bigup Digitally Mashed, he was showcasing all our tunes every week on Nu Rave Radio 🥰
5:05 "it takes away the sixthteenthsness about it" is so good actually, changed the way I think about doin breaks lol, ive always wondered how to have a bit more "space" like u hear in songs but never properly heard it in words like that cheers man
Haha! Glad you learned something bro. It’s amazing that a drum sample from 60 years ago is still being used in new and different ways! If you wanna make some half-time breaks (snare on the 3rd beat instead of the 2nd and 4th) that 8th slice is very useful. I might make a dubstep tutorial if theres some interest. 😊
really dope turotial, I learned so much. Especially the importance of a glue compressor. I have also just been chopping breaks in midi but the audio work was super eye opening, I will be utilizing these techniques. Thanks Graish!
Tune! Sounds Tuff! Absolutely buzzing to see another top video from you! Looking forward to working through this over the weekend.. keep em coming man.. right up my street this!!
Thank you so much for your support bro, I really appreciate it! If you have a go at making a 140 breaks tune let me know, I’d love to hear it and I’d be happy to give you some pointers. Have a great weekend! 👊🏼
Great video. I love chopping breaks in aduio in ableton.I think its way quicker and esier than messing around with midi. I picked up some great tricks from your vid. Thanks! (Also just fyi that perc in the Amen is a ride not a hi-hat 🙂)
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you learned something. You can hear the half-time section towards the end of the vid where I use that particular slice a lot. And yeah you’re totally right. It’s a ride cymbal.
Its just a folder of jungle breaks that I’ve had for years. I think I downloaded it for free, if you google “jungle breaks samples” you should find it :)
Tuning samples. Hit middle C, look at the note tuner gives you and then move the sample on C to the key tuner gives you in the key groups section. Tunes the sample, but keeps the sample untouched. MUST USE SAMPLER NOT SIMPLER.
@@djgraish I found that adjusting the pitch altered the sound of the original sample. So instead, I went into “Zone” and moved the actual sample from Middle C to its real root note on the sampler keyboard. I found the result better.
This would be a great technique, but my 808 sample isn’t an exact note it’s almost exactly in between 2 notes, that’s why I had to use detune as well as transpose. I’m not sure how that would work doing the “zone” technique. The great thing about Ableton is that there are multiple ways of doing things so you can find the best way for you!
@@djgraish it derives from old school hardware sampling. Regarding the 808, moving the sample will carry the same tuning. I was basically saying that rather than alter the pitch to the note value via the timer and De tuning, just physically move the original sample note to the actual key, instead of using the detune function.
what is 140 breaks? When I clicked I assumed u just meant breakbeats at 140bpm? But ur making it at 145bpm i tried googling “140 genre” and didn’t get a clear answer either
Hi, thanks for your comment. You could call it a subgenre of jungle which is at a slower tempo, around 140 (or 145 in this case) instead of the usual 160 - 175. Some people call it “future jungle” but I never liked that name, especially for tracks that sound the opposite of futuristic!
140 is just a popular tempo (or tempo range I guess in this case) that is very closely linked together with the old-school-ish UK sound that people are trying to bring back. There is 140 dubstep music too, just general 140 bass, I've heard garage in 140 too... It's more like an umbrella term than it is a genre.
@@defendrr_ru got it got it. its funny cause i was just thinking abt trying to make some old school uk dubstep. that was probably the first genre of music that i got into as a kid that wasnt just regular music on the radio. thats cool its making a comeback
@@djgraish very nice tune. It def a jungle track bordering breakbeat with tempo. Not trying to be a diq or nothing but you'd find it hard mixing that tune into the majority of where jungle ends up
Very informative, I'm gonna do this in the morning, love me a chopped up Amen, respect due👍
Yes! I’d love to hear what you come up with!
Thanks for this tutorial....I have learned so much! I have followed other great tutorials, but still learned so much on yours! Cheers
Amazing, thanks for watching 😃

This is SUPER useful info, even if your DAW isnt Ableton. Idk how to managed to cram in so much good info without being overwhelming.
Thanks, Glad it was helpful! 😀
thank you for this one, as a seasoned producer found this one very useful for updated techniques
Glad it was helpful! 👊🏼
One of the best vids I have seen about cutting and chopping breaks, That beat is HEAVY and is exactly my style! Wicked Stuff, Subbed! 👊👊😎

Nice one.
Thanks John
Where to get that amen break? It has good sound quality, really nice video anyway
You can either sample The Winsons -Amen Brother, find it in a sample pack… or even sample the part of this tutorial where I play the whole sample!
Do we have to use the vocal part of the Think break every time? Woo yeah!
😂
23:52 i recommend using command+1 or command+2 to change the grid, much faster than navigating the menu. great tutorial though
Great tip! Cheers 😊
Nice.
Thanks!
What is the library of breaks you have used on 23 min?
Its just a folder of jungle breaks that I’ve had for years. I think I downloaded it for free, if you google “jungle breaks samples” you should find it :)
I did this and I've only been able to make like 45.. Can someone please advise how to make more
Got crazy confused for a second and thought the title meant 140 different amen breaks in 27 minutes
😂Next video idea? 🤔

Bit of an oxymoron that. No such thing as 140 jungle :/

@TeslaDanser Jungle is not just defined by the Bpm mate
