It just kinda depends on what you wanna see. This is my favorite for information on new rides and stuff going on in the coaster community while airtime thrills I prefer when looking for an opinion on a specific coaster. If I just want a perspective of someone at a park I’ll watch el toro Ryan but his problematic coaster series is also pretty good for information on specific coasters
The reason that it never happened is because of a non-compete agreement with Busch Gardens right down the road. A friend of mine worked there - in upper management - and told me that it wasn't just a loose agreement, they were NOT ALLOWED to have B&M coasters. Not even specifically just certain models that would compete, but no B&M products AT ALL - since they were Busch Gardens' primary supplier of roller coasters for a long time. (3 in a row - Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, then Griffon) I think this may have relaxed a bit since Cedar Fair took over because no one could tell CF they weren't allowed to relocate Batman Knight Flight from Geauga Lake; they owned the ride and it was theirs to do with as they pleased. My friend literally said verbatim back when Dominator opened: "We weren't supposed to have a B&M, but Cedar Fair had one in stock, so we got it."
Not true at all. Otherwise the park NEVER would have been allowed to install Dominator regardless of the fact that it was a relocation. Those park logos didn't mean a THING as to what rides the individual cedar fair parks would install so the conspiracy theory behind this video has long since been debunked.
We do love our rumors in VA, but it’s not true. They just don’t want to have similar attractions. Let’s also mention the fact that a non-compete clause would include more than one independent manufacturer from Switzerland, and Pantheon wouldn’t have been built.
Your videos are extremely well edited, scripted and narrated. For sure some of the best theme park related content being released at the moment, I can definitely see your channel taking off.
Tbh, I think a B&M wing coaster in the style of Thunderbird, would work quite well at KingsDominion, but in regards to a hyper, I personally couldn't predict a certain type of hyper, there are many routes they could go with a hyper
You are one of the best coaster channels I have ever seen -- The editing is very good, your predictions, reports, and theories are very intelligent and engaging, and you upload pretty regularly. I can just tell you will become big in the community, keep it up!
That makes zero sense considering the fact B&M never really does that type of thing and are the ‘biggest manufacturer’ and require years of planning in advance. That would really sour the good relationship B&M had with Cedar Fair, too and has zero basis in facts whatsoever.
Uh it’s actually the other way around... Twisted Timbers was originally planned because it’s significantly cheaper than a B&M hyper, so they ran with it. I305 caused a major deficit and didn’t profit as anticipated, so Cedar Fair denied the hyper (the hyper was supposed to be built in 2016, this is true! It was supposed to be built in the Dino’s plot and extend in an “L” shape to the front gate and back!). Twisted Timbers, now having a larger budget, was supposed to be significantly larger and was supposed to open in 2017. Cedar point caught wind of what KD was planning and approached RMC. Thereafter, they struck a deal with RMC to do a sort of “2 for 1 deal”, which drastically cut the budget for Twisted Timbers. This all explains why the 2016 announcement for the 2017 season left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth - it was supposed to be much bigger than it was. Granted that CP brings in significantly more money than KD does, it only makes sense for CF to run with this operation. Some of my best friends worked on this project, so I hope this helps :) I love your content!!!
they still need that hyper more then ever now that volcano is gone and hypers are good with GP they honeslty should have done the hyper before TT and CP doesnt need anymore coasters
I thought the whole thing with i 305 not bringing in as much profit was debunked with air time thrills vid on it and the real reason KD hasn’t been getting major investments like carowinds is because of tax incentives keep in mind carowinds and Kd bring in about the same amount of profit a year
What about a 200ft Wing coaster? May not be a traditional hyper but still gives them a 200ft coaster. To my knowledge it’ll be the tallest wing coaster but not sure if a wing coaster has gone over 200ft
LOVE your videos! Everything you said was very true, and the quality is BREATHTAKING. I live in Spain and I'm 12, so my credit count is shit (24). When I see your videos, I feel like I've been in those parks a thousand times.
I think just by the artwork alone you can assume it would’ve been a larger hyper coaster, because the lift hill has the same support scheme as diamondback.
I think that if KD wants to outclass BGW,they will first open the Free Spin for replacing the Crypt and then getting a worthy succesor to Volcano, what about a Mack hyper?I think it would make a perfect fit at KD
Believe it or not someone uncovered documents showing that Kings dominion was supposed to have been the real recipient of Afterburn at Carowinds with a slightly altered layout which featured a inversion over the lift hill like Banshee at Kings island.
I think the hyper at the back of the artwork is quite telling that it didn’t mean anything. If they were planning to build a hyper and went through the effort to add it to their artwork they would have made it stand out more. As it would be one of their headlining attractions. They just hid it in the back which makes me think it’s just filler art.
I think it comes down to economy and corporate budget. KD, could care less what Bush thinks of them copying coasters. It was less money for them to do the RMC and it brought in just as many people as the B&M hyper did.
The thing missing in this conversation is whatever Six Flags may finally throw at SFA (#strugglebus). Will it be a Single-Rail? Will it be an Vekoma Bermuda Blitz? KD will likely counter with the missing link for Virginia... maybe they contract Intamin to steal/improve someone else's idea. Will Cedar Fair tap Intamin to just make something simultaneously unique and pedestrian. Like it or not, KD sits between BG and SGA - Cedar Fair's main competitors. All three see interested in co-existing in Virginia, so don't expect something mind blowing... just something interesting enough to warrant a visit.
The question of the KD hyper is a big one but a bigger question is why do people consider steel track with wooden supports a hybrid coaster yet they consider wooden track with steel supports wooden coasters. I. bet the best coaster you tuber in my opinion could maybe make a video about this. Although hunters probably busy fanboying over mako and itai is probably dreaming about iron gwazi so why don’t you make it zach. I’m only joking of course. You are the best coaster TH-camr in my opinion
While Intamin has made a name in the US for aggressive coasters, I wouldn’t count them out for smooth hypers. I haven’t been, but Hyperion at Energylandia looks great. The only issue I could see with KD getting a B&M is that the BGW sycophants will claim they’re copying Apollo’s Chariot.
I think a B&M hyper with staggered seating and the newer-style layout would be different enough from Apollo, but KD still likely went with one (or both) of your options here. Both parks did build Arrow Loopers, tho 13 years apart and vastly different layouts
If you look at the promotional art there is no Volcano. Therefore they put a hyper there to hype up the fans and will eventually built a hyper in Volcanos place. Have it un around the park a bit.
I got a theory. Twisted Timbers was originally designed for Kentucky Kingdom but the cost to convert Thunder Run was too costly so Storm Chaser was born
how come you didn't discuss the possibility of a B&M flying coaster? I know it's not the most likely thing in the world, but it would definitely spice up their current line up just as much if not more so than a B&M wing coaster.
they should relocate goliath from six flags magic mountain to kings dominion. (yes I know it's two different, competing companies) but it would be nice if magic mountain to get a good hyper.
It's up to you, but I would do the Hersheypark/Kennywood trip. They both have just gotten new coasters and have good supporting ones. Phantom's Revenge, in my opinion, rivals Skyrush. It's really that good. Plus, they both have great food options.
Alot of those Cedar Fair arts look really unfinished. Some supports float, KI's has 2 diamondbacks, and Michigan's Adventure ferris wheel is floating on top of their SLC. So maybe this is unfinished art?
I don't see why Kd can't just get a b&m hyper. Itll be better than Apollo anyways. Kd needs it so Y not? If Kd doesn't do something soon bgw will crush Kd. If they get a wing I hope it isn't mediocre like those old plans.
Okay, hear me out... What if KD and CF weren't going for just any hyper... What if they wanted to get another giga at this park that would be more gp friendly?! 😲🤯
The B&M Hyper in that art is literally Diamondback. Rougarou/Mantis is also in that art. I wouldn't take it too seriously... but interesting video nonetheless. I don't think Kings Dominion will ever get a B&M Hyper. But then again, I also said Kings Island will never get a giga, so you never know.
Nathan Lamoreaux That isn’t King’s Dominion’s drop tower either. It isn’t uncommon for Cedar Fair’s marketing teams to get these type of things mixed up. I’ve seen a few examples of promotional material placing the wrong rides at the wrong parks.
There was NEVER a hyper coaster planned for this park to begin with!! That was just a random logo that cedar fair produced for their parks and was NOT indicative of any future attractions planned for the park.
I keep getting twisted timbers and mystic timbers confused. I hate kings island/Kong’s dominion and their refusal to not be confusingly similar at all costs
I honestly don't think Kings Dominion will ever get a Hyper, Inverted, or a Dive coaster because you got Busch Gardens Williamsburg not too far away that has all of those coasters so if KD would want to build another B&M coaster, they would have to choose either wing or sitting.
Of all the hundreds of coaster channels, yours is by far the best!!!!

My theory is that Mako was originally for KD but they couldn’t afford it so Seaworld bought it up and repainted it.
That's why mako has the signature turn at the end just above the lake.
That makes zero sense considering the fact B&M never really does that type of thing and are the ‘biggest manufacturer’ and require years of planning in advance. That would really sour the good relationship B&M had with Cedar Fair, too and has zero basis in facts whatsoever.
Nathan Graveson no
If cedar fair could not afford mako, they can’t afford half the coasters they bought in the past ten years so that is NOT TRUE
Actually Busch Gardens Tampa was going to get Mako, it was then shipped to SeaWorld Orlando and BGT got Cobra's Curse, a family spinning coaster.
most consistent coaster youtuber without a doubt. Keep up the great work!
i’m praying 🙏🏼 to the gods that they get a new intamin hyper
