      @@mpalmer7800 we do have some cops who get in trouble, it's easier for us to put in complaints. With the military it's a different breed where even locals cops don't get access to investigate. Military even has there own in house court system.

      The problem with that is in order to be "prosecuted", there must be criminal culpability. That is an element which is almost impossible to prove unless they were directly involved in her murder or their negligence was intentional and so callous that any reasonable person would know that such negligence would likely put this soldier in grave danger of physical harm. Good luck proving any of that in a court of law.

      @@Teporame Soldiers are well aware of issues within our ranks and I don't know a single one that excused anything about the way they handled this at Fort Hood. Fort Hood has been known to be corrupt before this. Sex trafficking rings, drugs, etc. There was constant talk about her case all over bases when it happened and people were outraged. Sadly, social media was a big reason why this case was solved. Attention on cases like this highlight corrupt leadership in the Army and bring about negative feelings from the public. What's fucked up is that this case went without serious investigation for so long because Fort Hood didn't care until it gained attention across social media.

    My dad was a recruiter twice, once in the 70s and again in the early 80s. He told me he would never allow me to join the army or marines because they didn't protect their women or treat them well enough. He said at the time he thought maybe the navy and air force did a bit better. I never forgot that and here's a prime example.

      The Feres Doctrine makes it illegal to sue the military. It allows so many coverups and abuse by leadership. I'm stationed at Ft Hood and while I haven't personally experienced sexual assault, it would surprise me if it isn't even more widespread than this report indicated. Leadership treats enlisted soldiers like slaves there.

      Some People in the military go AWOL(absent without leave) for what ever reason.
      The military doesn't go looking for them, they just put out a warrant for their arrest.So if any L.E. stop them they get arrested and returned to the military.
      That's probably why these people weren't found out about until this young Army
      woman's body was discovered.

      I was stationed there from 2000-2003. It hasnt changed then It hasnt changed when I retired in 2014 and now in 2023 nothing has changed. you replace one toxic command team and now enters a new toxic command team. nothing will change unless you embedd an operative to do some time in the unit and observe.

      Nowadays many specialists think they're sergeants, and many sergeants act like specialists. The military really needs restore respect and accountability of the leadership roles. I've heard specialists and pfc's say they will outright ignore sergeant commands and say they only answer to staff sergeants, which would literally put soldiers lives in jeopardy during wartime. Don't get me started on PT failures, and the obesity epidemic happening throughout the military.

      We've come a long way. We've got a ways to go, but this nation addresses its vices and sins slowly.
      Boys are raised much better than we were when i was growing up. Looking back, I can now see loads of subtle (and not so subtle) ways that toxic masculinity reigned for my gen.
      I dislocated my shoulder stopping some douchebag from violating my friend when she was asleep. I was 15. That's proof that i'm on right side.... right? Well, there's lots more I could've/should've done in HS and college.
      My 4-yr old daughter will hopefully have a safer time in college than her mom and aunts did. I hope to see a day when women are treated equally - TRULY equal - for first time.... ever.
      Fact remains that Children are taken advantage of worldwide. Especially little girls. SLAVERY is a pretty big problem.

You have crappy leadership who are supposed to protect the victim in cases like this but they don’t. You can report it and in 2.5 seconds the whole battalion will know what’s going on and they shouldn’t. Next thing you know the victim is on the chopping block instead of the perp. It’s sad but true most of the time.

They spoke at one of the initial press conferences and tried to rationalize that sexual harassment is not a crime, hence, they had nothing to investigate. I’m very curious if that Fort Hood representative was disciplined in any way. That was such an outrageous stance after what had happened.

However, sometimes there are lesser charges such as manslaughter and negligent homicide. What would that look like? Perhaps an awareness by those in charge that sexual harrassment, rape and other forms of violence were widespread and unchecked, and not doing anything about it, or perhaps even covering it up, or even engaging in some types of harrassment personally (anyone remember Navy TailGate scandal?). Ignoring, burying, or participating in these types of behavior especially when a pattern of behavior can be shown, is grounds for prosecution. Depending on the facts, a case might even be made for accessory to murder or conspiracy. Certainly it should be investigated. And maybe not by the military internal investigators, but some sort of independent investigation, perhaps the Texas Rangers should be called in, since we can't really count on the military or the FBI to do a real investigation.

My father taught me as a small child that men or half man and half dog. I haven't strayed from that and I still think about what he said to me. So, if you are a woman reading this, please keep this in mind. I pray for her family and asking God to calm their souls. I commend them for sticking together and demanding answers.

There is so much fucking crime in Fort Hood. That post needs to be shaken from top to bottom. If enough is uncovered, the base can be ordered to lock down, but, things like that are an act of God, but Fort Hood needs that.

If you hear your neighbors having a yelling argument but ignore it and in the morning you find out the husband killed his wife, do you go to jail too? I mean you heard it right? The base CO never touched her, he probably never even met her, his fault is not fostering a safe environment where reports from his subordinates are taken seriously, so he is fired and will be forcecibly retired as the Army tries to change the culture for the better.
