What an undertaking! Your follow through is well focused. I have watched all 4 episodes and your progress is exemplary! A screamin lot of work done in 4 (i think) days! I am enjoying watching. Not a wasted moment! Keep up the great work!👍
My fellow, you are living my dream that I've had since I was your age. I'm a truck driver here in the U.S. I wish I had the time and shop n tools that you do. Keep it going I will follow.
Brilliant. You can tell exactly what you are looking at and what you have to do with it to move it to your desired end result. There's no drawing or, paper plans in sight. Just experience and vision. It is fascinating to watch.
Bloody brilliant way to modernize a kool classic. They're called a prefect here in nz. I used to drive one that had mark1 gt escort running gear retrofitted to it was a super fun wee beasty to drive especially in the gravel. Good show sir keep cranking out those little Brit rod's
Good job. Watching from Orlando, Florida. Similar project was done in the states. !962 ford Uni-Body pick-up truck, was slid over the top of a late model Ford Crown Vic police car chassis.I like that you are somewhat organized and keep you workshop clean.
I've watched a few of your videos, and just started on this playlist. I'm doing a 68 Rambler American Wagon on a Lexus SC300 chassis. The lower sill pinch weld on the two cars were within 1/4". Close enough I just clamped the two together and filled in the holes from where I drilled out spot welds.
Yet again great content, good editing and music! Came here trough my feed of must see vids (mx5/carthrottle) and always looking for cool project vids, and this one is great. Subscribers gaining fast! Good job, continue posting ! Greets from the Netherlands
This will be quite the project when completed. I almost wish we had 100E’s over on this side of the pond since it’s such a cool looking car for this project. Of course over here I think I would go with Monster Miata for a little more power under the bonnet. 😁
Just my pennies worth--when you drop the body (or what's left of it ) onto the Mazda roller skate you don';t want anything to touch--yet .Sort of hang the thing in place with the side sills acting as datums but crucially position it such that the front wings/wheel arch shape is exactly over where it was originally over the Ford front wheels , Any stretching can be lost at the rear. By having the front the same the finished job looks professional rather than a railway arch bodge-up. Then weld up a couple of temporary tags and you're away You know what I mean. Jonny
Great work, can’t wait for the next video. I don’t think our lass would too impressed if I took a grinder to her mx5 , but so harm in making secret plans for when it fails its mot though : )
Mega technical stuff coupled with raw talent, good to see the skinny lad has moved his ass he’s been leaning on your work bench all vid. Yellow top n pants don’t hit it Mr B rush 😂
One thing I really like is that you work quickly & you post almost daily. My favorite show on the You Tube right now. Quick question: How's dealing with the MOT to get this thing street legal. Out here in Oregon our rules for registering a vehicle for street use are almost as restrictive as California. But, as long as we have a vehicle with a proper VIN number & it was manufactured before like 1972, we can get by with a body swap like this.
Bought at mk1 yesterday. Got a nice surprise at the rear quarter inner panel and thought it was maybe unfixable.. after seeing this there's hope yet lol
I'm really curious to see how you handle the fact that the Miata has a 5" longer wheelbase, I'm thinking about a similar project with the exact same issue.
Great video Great music Jason keep it up !!!!why don't you and Edd china join up and make a great show!!!not like so called wheeler dealers!! that's such a flop since Edd gone!!!
I feel the mx5 diddnt have enough leg room for me, im 6’ tall. I would move the gas tank back more to the trunk area if possible and make more leg room for the driver or room to store a bag behind the seat
I used your mode of patching a panel. Sorta. I'm trying to upload a video of the build if you're interested it's on my channel. Have you credit for the mode i used, also made sure viewers knew you're much better than me at it lol
@@Urchfab thanks. It's not uploaded yet. Signal sucks out here in no man's land. As soon as it is uploaded ill comment a link here. But feel free to watch some of the other crap i have lol
Would it be if benefit for you to build yourself a vehicle rotisserie? Would make your life so much easier than trying to work under a car. Just a thought 💭. Keep up the good work though, loving the channel.
Maybe it's only hindsight talking, but you may have been better off simply (hah! simply, :) ) making your own space frame/roll cage to hang the engine and axles. Then you could have built a perfect fit for the 100E shell, and less aggro. As I say, looking back is always so easy, and I suppose it would be less of a mongrel.
Suppose that is one good thing about living in New Zealand, they don't put salt on the roads in winter!! About the only good thing though, which is why I'm moving back to Blighty!
@@Urchfab that would be great, if my lease wasn't about to expire! Currently working on how I'm going to ship all my gear, my dog and me back home.... 😕
ok, have to ask, why not just make a tube frame and attach the miata parts? We know you have the skill to do that. Not sure the value in keeping what is left, maybe if it was licensed as a miata still? need some parts of it to still be a miata? Don't you want it licensed as the ford?
In the USA, car body determines title/registration, doing a 53 willys panel body onto a ford explorer chassis now. btw, I had a 58 Ford Escort, don't see these cars anymore! Put in a toyota truck drivetrain, my first custom built car when I was 18.

Absolute total guess work. No way of knowing the strength of this concoction . Better to use a full tube chassis and have a safe structure. Eyeball engineering it is called .
There is a full roll cage going to be welded in there. That will give all the strength it needs. Rather an eyeball engineer as a keyboard mechanic... 🙄

not really, apply for a new VIN from the DVLA, take it for an IVA test then register on an age related plate based on mx5 parts
