I'm in the middle of coaching another poet with a similar problem. Start small: write all of your ideas on paper for about a week or two. Then see what you can pull together from there.
I really don't write enough, I get discouraged easily. Like I don't have enough passion or effort to go back and edit. Maybe a video on how to make editing fun or easy breezy?
Hey, that sounds excellent! I sometimes get in a slump with writing as well and my fire seems to fade. The passion is always there though, that is why we're the only mammals who have an alphabet! Editing can be quite fun since many of us always strive to reach perfection. Watch out for a video where I talk about easy ways to edit.
I no longer do the blogs as they're too time consuming and I've been able to help a smaller group of people in bigger ways by meeting them through Zoom/phone calls. When I did do the blogs, they happened after the TH-cam videos, therefore they have a bit more information than what's provided in my videos most of the time.
I would totally agree. Historically, this is the explanation of writing residencies and MFA programs. My partner and I have also moved recently, and it has changed my writing habits as well.
@@DimitriReyesPoet Easier said than done;) mostly i end up with forty a year. Sometimes writing one poem leads to others other times the one i write takes hold of me fully and there is no room for another one till i turn the page week or so later. Short stories though needs a lot of work to make presentable. And takes about 3 months. Unfortunately i write in a different language so no use sharing here.
Hey Harshavardhan. It is totally acceptable to write a poem inspired by other poems. In all actuality, in the 21st century where there is a lifeblood of talent voraciously and/or sincerely writing we often get inspired by the writings of others as well as what we experience around us. When we draw in the two together is when the poet could produce something really great! Poets even write poems deliberately inspired by other writers. For example, Gwendolyn Brooks' "We Real Cool" in the inspiration for David Hernandez' homage, "We Real Nerds." Check that out below and please comment back with any further questions. Maybe I'll make a video about it? (G.B) www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poems/28112/we-real-cool (D.H) www.versedaily.org/2014/werealnerds.shtml
Diana hey! Thanks for stopping by I will definitely take that into consideration as I'm trying to find the fine line between education and comedy! Stay tuned.
I don’t write as much as I want to because it’s stressful thinking about how to expand or how to even start a poem off

perhaps setting and environment change has some sort of influences on writing quality and quantiti.

one poem a week, one short story a month.
Nice! That's a good goal. Have you been sticking to it?
