As I write this comment (Dec 2015), alas, the great flute maestro N Ramani is gone, but his wonderul music has been mostly preserved in recordings and are bound to delight and fascinate musicians including flautists, listeners, musicologists and researchers and scholars doing cultural studies. Ramani's music was characteristised by straightforward and simple style conforming to the vocal traditions in pure melody. Long associated with his Guru Mali, a flute genius non pareill who verily changed the horizons of South Indian flute music with ptofoundest mellofy and mind boggling depths in laya (roughly, l0rhythm).
