- Join GM Simon Williams as he breaks down the best moves from GM Hikaru Nakamura!
Nakamura has been one of the world’s top players for over a decade. He was clearly the top American player for much of that time, and is now a key contributor to one of the strongest chess scenes in the world.
He is a five-time U.S. champion, claiming the title in 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2019. Only Samuel Reshevsky and Bobby Fischer (eight each) and Walter Browne (six) have won more U.S. Championships since the tournament format began in 1936.
Nakamura was also a participant in FIDE’s 2004 World Championship tournament and a candidate for the world championship in 2016. He is further renowned for his blitz prowess.

This series is the best of its kind, anywhere. Well done, bro. Very well done, indeed.
We want to see Simon's 5 greatest moves....
I don't make good moves.
He doesn't make moves, he helps us showing the greatest moves. That is what he do often😆
That jumpscare at 7:03 tho
I found them all and I'm only a 1700, I think it's due to the fact that I know there's a brilliancy next move (because the title say so), so I look for a strange move and so I find it... So in my opinion it's not so difficult to found them when the title say so, but it's difficult to find them on your own games
Agreed. And there is also the time: probably naka spotted most of them in a couple of seconds
I mean, finding the first move on instinct is not hard - Calculating the whole thing to confirm that your move wins in any variation, on the other hand, might not be so easy.
Confirmed, actually im 0 but i FOUND every move expect Qd3
I find too in seconds (1-2 min max)
1700 players not experinced players but can find some tactics

Dude, seriously, you're the best! Your videos are pure fun.
7:03 when the edibles kick in
Simon, I love your narration and humour. Would love to see your five most brilliant moves delivered in the same style with explosives and all.
As a beginner, I thought: Rxg1+, Kxg1, Bc5+, Ne3, Bxe3, Qxe3, fxe3 and white losses the queen.
And Hikaru: "Nahhh, I'm gonna go Qd3!!!"
These videos are awesome, keep doing it
I got all of them except for the first one where I thought the move was Rxg1 followed by Kxg1 followed by a check by queen , the white knight defends and is taken by a pawn. (black would be up materials, have a passed pawn, the king will be open and in lot of threats and the white passed pawn won't be able to cause any problems since rook defends the queening square)
5:30 is that not a stalemate? Someone pls help me out
other pieces can still move, it's only a stalemate if there are no more legal moves that you can play
@@FatLarry95 ahh thanks big man

coolest video from GM and author i ever seen
After the knight moves. actuallty he needs only 2 moves to win. rook take bishop and bishop to c5👽..
And Queen into action, still Hikaru wins the game but that's a great move you have found
Favorite move Qd3. Subbed.
1:10 Qd3
Me: my god what a terrible move is that. Take it back
Number 3 is my fave for sure
I really like the final one (Carlsen-Hikaru) because of the sacrifice leading right to mate.
the double rook check is the one that really amaze me
7:02 made me frightened a bit lol
BOOM! Nice commentary! 👍
I loved the explosion tric you made in the video.
In the first example, you should have shown the previous moves where Hikaru left his queen on prey on d8.
Thanks a lot Simon but why not 10 brilliant move? love them all and waiting to see your coming videos.
awesome queen sacrifices
at 5:23 why didnt the white rook go to f3? i think i am overlooking something....
