Picked one up after watching your first video. It’s such a fun camera to use. I got the camera by itself since I have the Rode Wireless Pro and ordered the battery attachment separately. Going to shoot a mini doc in San Diego next week and I’m planning using it for some BTS video.
I have this camera and there are a couple of things that you need to watch out for. If you use the camera along side another camera you need to understand that just because you have the camera in PRO mode and set to manual it may still be performing some automatic functions. ISO for example. You can set the camera to a 'range' of ISO like for example 50-100 or 100-400 etc. What this means is it will choose the best ISO within that range automatically therefore adjusting the brightness. I didn't realise it was doing this and when I went to match the two cameras, my DSLR and the Pocket 3, it took me a while to figure out what was going on. It was set by default that way. I sussed it in the end and just made sure I chose a single ISO that was set and didn't function within a range.
I think the combination of having the gimbal and the camera built-in to one little unit just makes so much sense for years we bought cameras and then we bought gimbal separately. I guarantee you go pro will copy this and I wish that they did as well. I used my GoPro for a lot of vlogging for a long time, but the issue I had was that the gimbal is quite big and cumbersome and just useless. To be honest. I'm looking forward to getting one of these as I'm getting into TH-cam eventually I'm actually a professional photographer and I do think that doing some TH-cam will help grow my Photography not looking at trying to get 100,000 subscribers. Not really caring about that at all but well done mate forgetting to 90 K that's awesome I stumbled across your channel. great video
The Osmo Pocket 3 is the best camera I've ever used for making videos. The quality is incredible at 4k 60fps! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a small, portable camera that can shoot amazing footage.
There's a selfie stick that has a built-in battery charger (power bank), and I think you could even connect a power bank to the separate LAV microphone and just tuck it into your shirt. I would think that this method would extend your battery life for several hours more.
it is not really true that if you forget to charge it you have to wait before using it, because you can always use it with a small powerbank (and it also charges very fast)
@@DeBroodjesRacing The extra battery is nothing more than a powerbank that powers the osmo with usb-c. It's not essential to buy the creator combo (I don't have it and I live just fine anyway)
It charges outstandingly fast for a camera - 0 to 80% in 16 minutes! Nowadays charging isn't really a problem, as you've mentioned, power banks do the job in the go too! (And the battery handle is great!)
I'm a wedding videographer and been contemplating vlogging family holidays, but I tell you what ... Micro Four Thirds (my panasonic G9) + the tiny lenses that come on that system ( i usually just take my 14-140mm) is my perfect set up for holidays. Come home, edit the raw images with a simple LUT and then send them off to photobox for a layflat album and then I have something tangible to look through over the years. I just don't like video personally unless i'm being paid to film a wedding. For personal stuff I prefer photos.
DJI Osmo Pocket 3 also has a battery handle that provides an additional 100 minutes of shooting time, so its battery level is not a problem at all. Didn't you buy this battery handle?
I recently won a mini 3 pro in a competition and fell in love with DJI, as I've next to none video making skills I wasn't getting much use out of it. So long story short I bought the osmo pocket 3 to get a better learning off the skill without the fear the off flying and it's blowing my socks off my footage still doesn't look professional but I'm slowing learning by watching every video known to man on TH-cam ❤ I'd recommend the osmo pocket 3 for beginners
The ideal camera doesn't get between you and the experience. That is one way the Pocket 3 can score. Easy to get good results, low profile, can act as your very own cameraperson. Fragility - check out the ScottyMakesStuff cases. Zoom - don't use it. You would get the same results in editing, as the sensor hasn't got the spare pixels that the Pocket 2 had. Battery - the battery handle gives you real hot swap capability, mid shot, and few cameras have that ability with their internally mounted batteries.
I do believe that they need to make an action based one same camera same setup just make it waterproof making something waterproof is actually not that difficult. It doesn't need to be waterproof but just be able to handle a shower or two and I do think that an action based one, even if it's $1500 Australian people will jump all over it
Did you use manual exposure? I notice some "jumpiness" and lack of motion blur in movement and motion usually seen with inadequate shutter speed 😅 Once I switched to manual exposure that "jumpiness" was gone and natural motion blur was back (1/60 shutter speed when recording in 4K30) Also you can definitely use the camera as it is charging from a power bank (or the battery handle) - it also has fast charging: 0 to 80% in 16 minutes! Active track is a cool feature but it doesn't really apply well for cinematic shots. 2:40 The panning is still too rigid and distracting which ultimately takes away from the shot. Hoping for more optimizations in the future!
4:52 Battery draws down like crazy in my opinion. Spare battery pack, that comes with Combo Creator throwing charge into built in battery only about 60%, then it's depleted. I got additionally Smatree Portable power bank with 5000mAh (vs Pocket 3 battery handle 950mAh). That one helps to survive through, lets say, the whole day in Disneyland, filming parade, fireworks, other shows and walking arounds. But with built-in battery- No WAY, especially if you filming in 4k.
@@Fil_Staros Nobody's talking about continues whole day shooting. Of course you can do it in cycle if you near by a wall outlet like if you sit and film at home whole day. Depends on how much time you spend on reviews of your footage, changing camera settings and so on it could be much, much less. I charge built-in battery to 100% and at first power on the P3 shows 99%. Camera is new and so is battery. Spare battery which comes with Pocket 3 kit is not really of big capacity. It charged my P3 internal battery with spare one that came with kit from 30% to 67% and it went dead. So it's practically adds about 33% - another 15 minutes or so for 4k30 filming. Anyone know if the battery handle can be charged while not connected to the main body? That way a spare battery handle could be charging while another one is in use on the Osmo body.

Ever used the instago 360? How does it compare?
I haven’t yet! I’m hoping to get it at some point soon
I have the insta 360 X3 and Pocket 2. Both amazing.
what type of focus mode are you using when you film sceneries or inside the church? I am very curious
If you talking about Pocket 3, just turn off tracking for sceneries. Whatever get in yellow square in the middle is where your focus would be.
Which cam did you take this video?
It is linked in the description 👍
I’m gonna have one
i love ur grading.. any tips?
I may work on a grading video soon. Keep an eye out
Anyone know if the battery handle can be charged while not connected to the main body? That way a spare battery handle could be charging while another one is in use on the Osmo body.
Yes
Yes
Is this worth upgrading from the Pocket 2?
1" sensor ( better quality at high ISO )and better stabilization is what sold me out. I was waiting for Pocket 3. Low light performance definitely superior over Pocket 2
it is less aggressive than my phone. which I like the most
The best travel camera
im super tempted for this camera, what a great idea to have a 1inch sensor with build in gimbal and being that small and neat. however im sweating hard now because the images I see in your and others videos suck ass. i sold my fujifilm xt4 for scraps to afford this one and its a downgrade in quality. crap. im the worst business man ever.
It’s not an Arri Alexa bro, it’s a phone camera replacement. Expect the quality to be similar to that. If that’s not your thing, don’t get it.
no i know. im just crying over how bad i am at making business decisions. buy high, sell low is my motto. but im gonna get this sucker anyways :) @@connormccaskill
The lack of zoom drives me insane
There is a 2x digital zoom in 4K and 4x digital zoom in 1080
Looks like the perfect camera
Until you read DJI is Chinese company ….. and we all know Chinese quality
i like your transparent review :D
Do you sell your own LUTS?
I will soon! Meeting up with a proper colorist to make some looks
Iamfrominsta
OKAY, I KNOW THE DJI POCKET CAMERA 3 IS A GOOD CAMERA, BUT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF SEEING : "CINEMATIC" TH-camRS SPOIL THE FOOTAGE WITH THE LUTS EXCUSE. COLOR GRADING ETC.. AND THEY TURN THE VIDEO INTO A THING WITHOUT QUALITY, SEPHIA OR BROWN LIKE THIS VIDEO, BETTER MAKE THE VIDEO WITH AN OLD CAMERA AND YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME "CINEMATIC EFFECT" THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY IS CRAP EVEN IF THEY WANT TO CALL IT "PROFESSIONAL", HENCE THE PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS ARE ADJUSTED IN COLOR (BLACK AND WHITE BALANCE TO GIVE A REAL COLOR...
Yo why are you yelling ha
video is great.... but as a camera?
Third!
👏
You're right. I always have the feeling that the Osmo might break. Last week on the motorcycle taxi in Bangkok, for example. ;-) I was happy when I was able to stow the Osmo at a red light and then took out the iPhone instead.
Yeah exactly. I still like the Osmo, but it is concerning
@@connormccaskill same here 👍🏻
It’s missing 2 things to be the literal ultimate camera. Durability and weatherproofing
Agreed
That's a big additional ask considering the price and existing feature set.
