@user-tq4lm7qk3l There's a show he took a huge part in called Taboo. I don't think he directed any of the episodes, but he worked hard on it behind the scenes.
This movie is absolutely brilliant. I loved the vibe and everything about it. The performances were fantastic, the set and sound design, the costuming, the authenticity... It's just 10/10 for me. It will become a cult classics in years to come. Jeff is a visionary director and I really dig his style of filming, although it is widely different from most theatre releases these days. I hope the movie funds its audience. Thanks for the great interview.
It's awful it's flat it dose not represent Biker culture at all Tom's part is miserable and he knows it He's hardly given any interviews to promote it I was very disappointed A total waste of Tom's time
@@SamDios-c8t what are you smoking?? Toms part was just enough for the film, he delivers in every role, regardless of how many lines he has. His presence is felt.
I held my breath during that entire campfire scene - probably my favorite moment in cinema in long time. so exquisetly quiet and intimate. I’m still holding my breath watching them confirm my suspicions! amazing.
Jeff Nichols often using the word "covet" for how Johnny feels about Benny, coupled with the first scene spoken about here, as Johnny offers his "kingdom" to Benny, he gets close enough to be obscured/consumed by Benny and it feels sooo transcendent the more I think about it. Fantastic work from these two. I've seen the film twice in the past week and it still is rattling around in my brain constantly.
Jeff was fortunate to get Tom to do this movie! He brought the intensity of that character and sounds like he helped just being there. The whole cast was the best. Austin was able to show he can play other kinds of roles too.
Not seen Tom Hardy last couple of years or so, but I think he'll be coming out with some movies next year. Just one of those talented actor that happens to have the looks also. I mean, have you seen his solo play in Locke? He's just fantastic!
Jeff Nichols' "passion project" which is 20 years in the making, is one of the better films of 2024. After viewing "The Bikeriders" I now compare Tom Hardy as the modern day version of Marlon Brando!
I love Tom Hardy. He is the best actor since he played Bronson. He started getting really popular! He is best in playing real people. Hope he gets some good scripts, I've missed him the last year or more!!!
Really interesting to listen to Jeff Nichols talk about his vision for the film, filming and writing. I didn't know him before this movie. And Tom Hardy, I guess it's the first time seeing his interviews, pleasant, genuine person. It's quite a recent thing for me to follow actors outside the movies...
if you find out more about Tom, you will see that he is a very smart and talented actor. He does a lot of charity work and loves dogs very much. He is a father of many children. He has three sons and is married to actress Charlotte Riley. ♥
Really good writing! And scene movement. Jodie Comer (couldn't' take my eyes off the nuance in her face) and Tom Hardy definitely deserve Oscar nominations. I'm off to see it again.

I was surprised how much I actually love this movie. I grew up during the 1970s and early '80s and have been surrounded by motorcycles pretty much my entire life in the Midwest. I attended Easyrider Rodeos where the Outlaws MC were out in force. I never met an Outlaws member, but have grown to respect the MC more than any other. I lived out West for 13 years and turned down patches in two of the big 1-percenter MCs and was a prospect in one of them. The other just followed me around for about six months, which eventually annoyed me to the point that I got sick of them and refused to join. I walked away from the one in which I prospected, mostly due to the chapter I was prospecting being mostly a bunch of assholes and deadbeats who relied on their women to put a roof over their heads. Only one had a real job and was a truly responsible person. The journey here is based on the Outlaws MC and the book The Bikeriders. We see how the club changed from a racing club with genuine motorcycle enthusiasts into a "proper gang," which turned off many of the older members. That's pretty much what I experienced while prospecting a chapter/club and never regretted walking away. At the end of the movie, the guys who enjoyed their lives the most were the ones who walked away. I never met someone who walked away from the 1 percenter scene who regretted doing so. Many of these clubs started as genuine motorcycle clubs populated by genuine bikers. Unfortunately, many have morphed into criminal organizations whose members only buy Harleys because they have to in order to join the club and advance their criminal interests. The club with whom I prospected was shot up a Hells Angels chapter along a freeway near Las Vegas in broad daylight and in front of a lot of witnesses and cameras, which affirms just how stupid things can get. The Outlaws MC, though, mostly operates smartly and isn't that incredibly dumb. I can't help but wonder: What prospect/hangaround/patchholder with the 81s heard that plan and thought, "Yeah, let's do it! What could go wrong??" All of them will be spending many years behind bars for it. I also have to wonder -- why the Hell did they go after the Las Vegas Vagos? Did they think some of them shot and killed an 81 in a bar in San Bernardino a year or so earlier? It really makes no sense, and neither do a lot of MCs and various chapters.
haven't seen this yet. but man. Hardy bringing his head up straight with that stare, not even a blink "fists............................or knives?" intense. "eh, fuck it, fine. no chapter" lol

Growing up on the West coast in the sixties....with friends older brothers in a couple local clubs....th whole vibe of the time.....I kept saying "fuck yeah" through much of the film. Oh well, 72 this year and still riding most days.
Honest question but is this movie supposed to have gay overtones? The director in another interview said the main reason he cast Butler is because hes "very attractive". And that first "intimate" clip they played and analysed, the two characters are practically kissing.
I don't think that was the intention. The scene just came off that way, and it was very well done. I don't think Johnny wanted to be WITH Benny. Johnny wanted to BE Benny.
I was looking for this comment it was so gay! What was he trying to same how homoerotic men are? He seemed so indifferent towards his wife and making sure the wives and girlfriends are protected
This is an amazing role for Tom, people are going to lose it when they see him as Jurek Walter in the Lazarus show. Hope we get more news about that series soon.
Chicago resident here...last time my sister saw me with my blackeye and it all busted up and my head all up she just asked what happen to you? and my reply I fell lol.
The ending was bad! No one avenged Johnny after he was killed, thought Benny would have did it. Then some of the guys joined up with that sorry dude, SMH......
They might have been high making this with wicked coming out and all the drama with Ray and Nick mixed in. The college bs with Arianna and Cristina. It’s very interesting with Lisa Marie’s death too and Austin Butlers emotions. And Tom Hardy getting shot because of my connection with Nick. Also Ray liking Arianna very strange. Me losing my temper and going to Chicago. And Arianna telling me to date a metro guy instead of my Tom hardy Vegas bs. It’s a lot of emotions going on here. I don’t know it gave me anxiety that Tom wants to date Arianna being a Johnny character like her old favorite movie Cry Baby. I really doubt I’ll talk to those girls ever again. Or have a connection with Ray
But Frodo, without any clear idea of why he did so, or what he hoped for, ran along the path crying help! help! help! It seemed to him that he could hardly hear the sound of his own shrill voice: it was blown away from him by the willow-wind and drowned in a clamour of leaves, as soon as the words left his mouth. He felt desperate: lost and witless.
Tom and Jeff are not Frodo, like the rest of us they are fallible human beings, but due to their crazily immense passion they endured and managed to be productive. With productiveness come inevitable mistakes which sometimes can damage the end product, but sometimes they can (unexpectedly) make it better. Time to work, for all of us.
I’m sorry went to watch it. I would call this a ‘TV Movie’ . Films like this don’t give a Cinematic experience. I was waiting for it to warm up but it then it just ended. I might sound cynical but a trip to the movies is becoming increasingly frustrating as everything is over rated and lacking substance.
