i picked this book up on a whim, i had some spare change and happened to go to my favorite comicbook store because i feel safe there. i bought it, brought it home, sat down and took a peak. What i found was someone just as fragile and hurt and scared as myself. And i saw my thoughts articulated more elegantly than i had thought doable. And lastly, if only fleeting, i felt less alone, less weird, less alien.
all in all, pretty good book. would recommend 10/10

When I read it, it was the best thing I read in a loooong time. It reminded me a bit of pun pun as both comics tackled depression. This one is a first-hand highly subjective account of her own life. It's a bit messy, rumbly it works perfectly here. There are some quotes that are sublime. My favourite has to be : "Maybe I’d be dead if not for this. But instead I’m going to make something that didn’t exist before. And I think that’s beautiful"
I don't know if she is the future of comics. This might be her one-hit wonder or she might become the new Alan Moore. Who knows. All I know is that I'm buying her next work.

I just finished this book and loved it. I agree with the Scott McCloud comparison

As someone who is also new to Zoe’s work I can agree. The profundity of her work is somewhat effortless, leading the reader into deep thought. Not many people can understand the journey but can appreciate the experience. Zoe harnessed pain and made it earnest, a beautiful formula that has ruled storytelling. Age has no real value when it comes to creating, only experience - she moulded a deformed experience into captivating anecdotes whilst still holding its original value.

Wonderfully said. It’s very inspiring because I’ve had many people find my own comics journey to be somewhat “unearned” because I’m so young but age and experience can sometimes be overrated. Artists are artists, you know? They feel things others don’t and interpret them in ways others never could.

The future? She's more like the present of comics.
