Not for a reaction, but just to show you how Avi's done this song live. This video will take you way back to July 12, 2019, in San Francisco, which was just the second stop on his first solo tour. He had 4 backing musicians, including Kaleb Jones (who's still with him), and Daniel Ellsworth (who played piano on the 4 Sunset Sound Session songs, piano on "Healing", and keys on the rest of the latest EP). I was standing right next to the stage at audience left, just a few feet from Daniel, so my perspective didn't capture all of the musicians, but the audio is good (although the sound guy didn't readjust the level on Jeremy Lister's mic from his solo opener set just before, so he's overpowering Avi's vocals somewhat). The song was very new then and hadn't even been formally released, but he was using it to open each concert, and continued with that as sort of a tradition in later tours. As always with Avi, it's interesting to see how each performance of a song can be different, sometimes not by a lot, but still... th-cam.com/video/JzZYziJDHF0/w-d-xo.html
You are so right about the accompaniment helping to drive the song. Add Avi's wonderful voice to it, and you really get the feeling you're going someplace very special! ☺
Thank you very much for your reaction❣ This song is really dear to Avi's heart and I like every version of it. But which songs or versions do we not like? There is nothing by Avi that we don't like. That is the incredible thing about this singer. I took a look and compared which songs you are still missing. There are still not all of them, because Avi also sings songs that not everyone knows, like Yellow Bees or When I Die.... Here is a list: Aberdeen (official music video) Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair - Peter Hollens & Avi Kaplan Fields and Pier - Avriel & the Sequoias Floating On A Dream Full Moon - Avi Kaplan (Annual Choir Fesival - McNary) Full Moon (Live from TH-cam Space LA) Into The Blue Lean On Me On My Way Sage and Stone - Avriel & the Sequoias Song For The Seeker - Avriel & the Sequoias Song for the thankful The Summit Try To Get It Right Uncanny Valley Without Your Lovin' Home Free - Ring of Fire (featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix) [Johnny Cash Cover]
Great to see you back with another Avi Thursday, we need our Avi fix😊 When I listen to “On my way”, I feel that the melody is also moving forward, not the rhythm of a train but what I (who doesn’t know about music) call “Avi’s wandering guitar”. There is a studio version and a 7 Layers Session th-cam.com/video/RPFjC2VWN5A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sCcFhGSz7yQj3k4N Look forward to next Thursday😀
