You wondered about Avi doing this song in concert. While I don't know if he did it this year or if he will on the European tour, he did do it on his US/Canada tour in Winter 2022. I went to his concert in Berkeley, California and recorded the entire show and VIP songs on my iPhone. This was shot from my seat up in the balcony area, and you can hear all the way through the song that the audience was doing exactly what he asked of them - singing along. I think I prefer the original one with the instrumentation but since it’s Avi, they are both gorgeous.

Yes! I've been waiting for this one just as much as last week's reaction. 🥳 Thank you, happy you enjoyed it. I hope you get to see them next time they go on tour. As for the song, yes it does have a great rocky vibe, but like all Poets songs, this one is a deep one as well, even though it might not come across as such during the first listen. As you can see in the video, we have the dapper, businesslike version of Marko, the "prolific designer" he talks about in the lyrics. He's the version generally accepted by today's shallow society that is all about hard work and success (whatever that means) and outward appearances. On the other hand, there's the manic, crazy "madman" version of him, representing what is going on on the inside. I think the line "we're poets of the fall" in this context doesn't refer to the band alone, but to all of us. Each of us are authors of our lives, including potential downfalls. I think the song is partly based on Marko's very own experiences - it was the severe burnout he suffered working as a graphic designer running his own business that led to the realization that he could not go on like this. The "perfect, near-fatal headlong dive" he speaks of in the lyrics. So he sold everything he had, moved into his parents' basement, and together with Olli formed Poets, hoping to succeed as a full-time musician instead. And what a great decision that was in retrospect, wasn't it? Proof that sometimes we need to take risks in life to achieve good things. 😊👍

Never thought of this, but this song could have been part of "control" soundtrack perfectly, even checked but this album was released 3 years before Control came out, the speedy vibe of the song fits some of their songs on control quite well. And funnier even I at first didn't liked this song that much when it came out in 2016, it defenitley grew in my liking from then until now. Considering possible suggestions: within Poets, I would suggest you to listen the song that brought me to them around 2006, Illusion and Dreams from their first album is on the more quiet side outside Poets I without stating obvious names I would suggest two bands that are often overlooked Pyramaze - Tides that won't Change for a calmer one or if you prefer something with higher production Earthside - "Dreams in Static" or the later one "Let the Truth Speak" either of them is worth it.

There is a kind of live version of this song. It is a Geneleg music channel live video without audience and its even better version. Maybe not for reacting again but worth to listen.

I think you’ve probably done the reaction to We Don’t Talk about Bruno. That was Ashley Diane in that one as well as If I Were Rich Man, Running up that Hill, and quite a few of their minis. One of the things that always surprises me is how much more I pay attention to the lyrics when VoicePlay does a song. I’ve heard this song a lot of times but I never really realized that it’s pretty much about a break up. When I first watched it I couldn’t figure out why they kept showing them together then alone. When I went back and paid more attention to the lyrics I realized that it’s about losing your love.

I love this song so much. i mean, with Poets you can't really say they have a single style or anything but the first time i heard this, it was like - what the fish? then i had to start the song over again and hunker over the screen intently because now i was prepared for how fast those lyrics were coming. i think the vibe is great and the message is couched in really erudite language - but man, that chorus is catchy as heck!

The pendant he gives the girl near the end was given as a replica with the album "Jealous Gods", was one of the nice times to get a deluxe edition. Still wear the pendant quite often. This year, Eli has been in the rotation with Layne and Geoff to head projects. I love his setting for this video and I love the depth of emotion that his projects draw out. He had Cesar do the costuming, but he filmed all the incidental footage with a handheld camera and Layne’s help with lighting (it was Layne’s hand you saw handing out the bear).

Ashley is an old friend of Cesar from Puerto Rico, She has appeared in VP" Running Up That Hill, If I Were a Rich Man'Girl. We Don't Talk About Bruno, to name a few. The Spanish version of this song was very popular in Puerto Rico so they included a bit of that here.
