Late Taiwanese singing legend Teng Li-chun, commonly known as Teresa Teng, has been brought back to life by a Beijing firm. The digital production and visual effects company Digital Domain has made use of technology to create a virtual-reality hologram of the famous singer. The virtual character is able to converse and sing for users. Companies have been eyeing a lucrative market using this technology in virtual performances, exhibitions and gaming.

Teresa Teng really was a charming lady! She had the "it" factor coupled with her beautiful voice, truly a pity she died young.
And that's not a 3D image of her, tho. The reporter/interviewer was talking to a screen. A screen is 2D. I don't think it's the same with 3D objects like hologram, a 2D animation is 2D.

@@Neo-jty Nah, not really. Taiwanese accent or even Taigi dialect is not Fujian accent. Teresa's parents are Guashenglang or Waishengren, not originally from Minnan region. Dad's Hebeiren and Mom's Shandonger. None of those are Fujian. But I'll concede that Taiwan is part of Fujian province, no one can change that immutable fact.

there's no "taiwanese accent". There is a south Fujian accent which is widespread in taiwan but that's about it.

Her music is beautiful. The Moon Represents My Heart is my favorite Teresa Teng song although I listen to her discography a lot. This looks surreal and maybe this technology can help those who can't let go of their loved ones.

I'm a millennial who was only less than six months old when Teresa Teng passed away.
I only discovered Teresa Teng when there was a Google Doodle in the search bar to commemorate her 65th birthday. I read her biography on how she rose in her legendary and GOAT status today not just in Chinese-speaking nations but also in the entire Asia particularly in the Philippines, my home country.
Four years later, Teresa Teng resurfaced in my Google algorithm through news about her hologram concert as early as midyear of 2022. It was also resurfaced when I started listening to Mandarin Pop Songs such as Xie Hua Piao Piao, Luguwo, Super Idol, and Shanghai Beach that are used in social media as memes. I kept listening because it was fun.
Along with the Chinese meme songs in the random Mandopop playlist, there was TERESA TENG that appeared in my playlist. Without any hesitation it's a love at first listen, and maybe at first sight, especially when The Moon Represents My Heart was played. Even though I might not be able to witness and listen to her songs in her lifetime, she sealed her mark to listen to her songs, no matter how young she left in this world. It's an honor to bear my responsibility to share your music to non-Chinese Gen Z kids to appreciate classical pop and ballad music.

It already exists. Revival of a few Japanese singers were done in 2010s. A recent one with Hibari Misora too. All within the VOCALOID technology.
